    Abstract: A system and method are provided for dynamically generating a query using touch gestures. A virtual magnet is movable on a display device of a tactile user interface in response to touch. A user selects one of a set of text documents for review, which is displayed on the display. The system is configured for recognizing a highlighting gesture on the tactile user interface over the displayed document as a selection of a text fragment from the document text. The virtual magnet is populated with a query which is based on the text fragment selected with the highlighting gesture. The populated magnet is able to cause a subset of displayed graphic objects to exhibit a response to the magnet as a function of the query and the text content of the respective documents which the objects represent and/or to cause responsive instances in a text document to be displayed.

    Abstract: Methods and systems input an energy consumption profile for each of a plurality of different sleep modes available for a device, and input a probability distribution of interjob times for the device. The methods and systems then compute the optimal time-out period for each sleep mode based on the energy consumption profile of each sleep mode and the probability distribution of interjob times. Further, such methods and systems monitor the usage of the device to determine the current interjob time, and switch between sleep modes to relatively lower power sleep modes as the current interjob time becomes larger.

The widget has two or more virtual sides, each of the sides being associated with a respective functionality. The widget is flipped, in response to a recognized touch gesture, from a first of the sides to a second of the sides, whereby the functionality of the widget is changed. The server generates pairing information and transmits the pairing information to the monitoring system. The server determines that a pairing key is received as input at the servicing device and/or monitored device and determines if the pairing key matches the pairing identification. The system includes a display device for displaying elements, such as images, textures, color palettes, ad textual elements, which are selectable as query elements for forming a query. A physical space is provided on the display in which a physical object can be positioned. At least one physical object is positioned in the physical space, which is recognized by the system as having an identifier stored in memory to which a query can be linked. A sensor is provided for detecting a physical manipulation of the physical object in the physical space which represents absorbing a query element into a query. A query generator generates a query based on the absorbed query element. The query is thus associated in memory with the identifier for the recognized object. In this way, several physical objects can be manipulated on the display device, each one corresponding to a respective, single query.

    Abstract: A system and method for reviewing documents are provided. A collection of documents is portioned into sets of documents for review by a plurality of reviewers. For each set, documents in the set are displayed on a display device for review by a reviewer and temporarily organized through grouping and sorting. The reviewer's labels for the displayed documents are received. Based on the reviewer's labels, a class from a plurality of classes is assigned to each of the reviewed documents. A classifier model stored in computer memory is progressively trained, based on features extracted from the reviewed documents in the set and their assigned classes. Prior to review of all documents in the set, a calculated subset of documents for which the classifier model assigns a class different from the one assigned based on the reviewer's label is returned for a second review by a reviewer. Models generated from one or more other document sets can be used to assess the review of a first of the sets.

    Abstract: A computer-implemented system and method for generating specialty imaging effects from layered documents are provided. The method includes providing a layered document that contains one or more effect layers and one or more visual layers. For each visual layer, the method includes identifying visual graphical elements within the visual layer. For each of the visual graphical elements, the method identifies, as a next effect layer, a closest effect layer above the visual layer which includes an effect graphical element that overlaps, at least in part, the identified visual graphical element. A new graphical element is created by merging at least part of the identified visual graphical element with at least part of the overlapping effect graphical element. The merging may be performed with regular specialty imaging techniques. The input layered document is transformed by replacing the identified visual graphical element on the visual layer with the new graphical element.
