Abstract: An automated teller machine (ATM) includes a movable bulk sheet acceptor disposed outside a secure chest, a sheet storage container disposed within a secure chest, and a movable sheet transport to enable sheets to pass from the sheet acceptor to the sheet storage container through an opening in the secure chest. The sheet acceptor and the sheet storage container may be pre-positioned relative to the movable sheet transport in an undocked position, and thereafter moved into operative positions as the sheet transport is docked. A driving gear carried on the sheet acceptor is placed in operative engagement with a gear member located adjacent the sheet transport. Operation of the driving gear is operative to move the components into the operative positions.

Abstract: An automated banking machine is provided. The automated banking machine may include a fascia in operative connection with a frame. The machine may include a plurality of hardware devices which are accessible through the fascia. The hardware devices may include a cash dispenser, receipt printer, and a card reader. The machine includes a frame in operative connection with a chest. A top panel and at least one side panel are slidably connectable with the frame. When a door of the frame is in the closed position, the top panel is not capable of being slid out of operative connection with the frame. When the top panel is in operative connection with the frame, the at least one side panel is not capable of being slid out of operative connection with the frame.

Abstract: Method for accessing and servicing banking machine components of an automated banking machine. The automated banking machine includes a processor case rotatably mounted on the machine housing. The processor case houses and supports various circuit cards and processor related components. A movable mounting tray supported on the chest housing, supports various banking machine components which may include a display, a card reader, a receipt printer, and input keys. When the automated banking machine is in an operable condition, the processor case and the mounting tray are housed in an interior area defined by a top housing. To access and service the banking machine components, the movable tray may be extended outwardly from a front opening in the top housing and the processor case may be rotated from an operational position to a service position.

Abstract: An automated banking machine that operates responsive to data bearing records includes a card reader (16) operative to read data corresponding to financial accounts from user cards. An exemplary machine (10) includes a fascia (12) which extends on the outside of a wall (14) and includes a user interface (15). Responsive to user inputs through the user interface, the machine is operative to receive a stack of currency notes (84) from a user. Notes in a currency note stack can be evaluated through operation of a currency note validator device (88). Acceptable currency notes can be stored for recycling.

Abstract: A cash dispensing automated banking machine, such as an ATM, has leveling legs. The legs are also used to fasten the ATM to a shipping pallet. Each leg has a support foot and an opposite free end. The free end is inserted through an opening in an intermediate shipping plate. With the shipping plate situated between the foot and the ATM underside, the free end is screwed into an underside opening. The leg is rotated until the plate is raised to be secure against the underside. The plate is then set on the pallet and fastened thereto by lag screws. The pallet includes horizontally adjustable stabilizing feet at sides thereof. The pallet feet can be extended outward to decrease the ability of a supported ATM to tip over. When not needed, such as during pallet storage, the feet can be retracted inward to reduce pallet size.

Abstract: An automated banking machine includes a top housing cover slidably mounted with respect to a top wall of the housing of a chest or secure enclosure. The top housing cover includes side channels for slidably receiving spaced upwardly extending flanges mounted on the chest housing. Various upper banking machine components are mounted in supporting connection with the chest housing about the secure enclosure. The components may include a display, a card reader, a receipt printer, a communications device, and a keypad. In an operable condition, the top housing cover is positioned so that a front opening therein is covered by an upper fascia. Removal of one or more fasteners allows the top housing cover to be moved rearwardly to expose the banking machine components for maintenance, replacement or other servicing activity.

Abstract: An ATM apparatus including a selectively removable sheet storage container supported within the secure chest portion. The sheet storage container is carried on a movable frame for movement into an operational position. The movable frame is movable from an out/down position to enable removal and replacement of the container, to an in/up position to place the container in the operative position. The frame is operatively supported through pivoting arm members for coordinated movement therewith. As the sheet storage container is moved into the operative position, a locking pin of a catch automatically slides into a locking recess to lock the storage container in the operative position and prevent movement of the frame. Upon operation of a lever, the locking pin is released and the frame moves toward the out/down position so that the sheet storage container can be removed and accessed.

Abstract: Method of accessing components of an automated banking machine for servicing. A top housing cover is mounted in slidable relationship to the housing of an ATM chest or secure enclosure. In an operational condition, a front opening in the top housing is closed by an upper fascia. AN operable chest door controls access through one of the openings in the chest housing by operation of a locking bolt mechanism. Multicolor light emitting devices (17, 31, 41, 43) are adjacent to and associated with a respective location where a user interacts with a particular transaction function device of the machine. One or more machine controllers (64) are selective to control the output color and duration of each light emitting device responsive to programming associated with the controller and an operative condition of the associated transaction function device.

The ATM includes a top housing cover having a forward region and an upper fascia having a rearwardly extending portion that selectively overlays the forward region. The ATM includes a lower fascia having first and second side extensions that selectively overlay first and second forward regions of a safe or secure enclosure. The ATM may include a pivotal processor case for ease of installation and/or servicing of banking components. The safe housing may include dual openings for use in either a front-load or rear-load ATM. Upon sensing multiple notes have been picked, picker device movement is reversed to function with the stripper device in returning notes toward the stack. The stripper device is driven to move a note engaged therewith at a faster rate or for a longer time period relative to a note engaged with the picker device to reorient returning notes to facilitate a subsequent note separation attempt.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for the shipping and installation of an ATM. The ATM comprises leveling legs. A pallet includes a plurality of readily separable components and a plurality of component fasteners. The pallet further comprises bracket openings which align with the leveling legs allowing vertical movement of the leveling legs therethrough. The leveling legs are extendable in the openings to lift and support the ATM from an underlying floor surface, allowing the underlying pallet to be disassembled. The ATM can be leveled using the leveling legs.
