  • Publication number: 20200008400
Abstract: Methods of utilizing light during incubation of avian eggs to influence characteristics of avian pre- and post-hatch. Specific amounts of energy are provided to incubated eggs through a light source, having particular wavelengths, to accelerate embryo development and promote myogenesis post hatch. Green, red, or blue wavelengths of light, or combinations thereof, are provided to eggs in a temperature controlled incubator to increase myoblast and satellite cell production in avian eggs. The light can be administered to avian eggs in a manner that entrains an embryo's circadian rhythm in the egg.

  • Patent number: 10506801
Abstract: A method of increasing the probability of breeding swine via a lighting system with a programmable timing device. The lighting system is programmed to present differing photoperiods such that the amount of light observed by a swine every day or week gradually decreases, mimicking a seasonal change, typically from summer to fall. As a result, swine psychologically and physiologically believe that seasons are changing resulting in increased probability of breeding for the swine.

  • Patent number: 10485072
Abstract: A light emitting diode lighting assembly that receives an electrical excitation signal that is varied from a dimming device. Driving circuitry receives the varying input and has first and second paths that each have a plurality of light emitting diodes. Each plurality of light emitting diodes has a threshold voltage with the threshold voltage of the first plurality of diodes being less than the threshold voltage of the second plurality of lighting emitting diodes. The current within the first path is controlled by a current limiting device that is controlled by a resistor that receives input from the second path to gradually turn off the first plurality of light emitting diodes as the second plurality of lighting emitting diodes increase in intensity. A shunt voltage regulator within the circuit having a threshold voltage that is above threshold voltages of components in the assembly to minimize voltage increases in the assembly.

  • Patent number: 10455819
Abstract: The sex of embryos in eggs is influenced or controlled through the application of light having selected wavelengths in order to promote the development of embryos of a selected sex. An incubating device is provided having an interior cavity that can be sealed from an outside, and having a plurality of lighting elements disposed on each of a plurality of trays disposed in the interior cavity. Eggs are disposed on the trays, and pre-determined environmental conditions are applied to the interior cavity to promote hatching of the eggs. Concurrently with the application of the environmental conditions, the eggs are irradiated according to pre-determined lighting conditions. The lighting conditions include applying light having wavelengths substantially concentrated in selected ranges, such as light wavelengths within the 390-419 nm, 410-450 nm, 420-450 nm, 450-495 nm, or other narrow range.

  • Publication number: 20190269809
Abstract: Sanitizing an agricultural facility by placing a chamber having an open interior within the agricultural facility. An item is placed within an open interior of the chamber and a door is interlocked. Then light having a spectral content within a narrow range of wavelengths is provided from at least one lighting device toward the item for a predetermined amount of time to inactivate a microorganism. Simultaneously, ozone may be discharged into the open interior to sanitize the item. Before the door unlocks the ozone within the interior of the chamber is directed to a filter for forming oxygen. Sanitizing the agricultural facility by detect humans, and in response, providing a first light with one spectral content when the human is detected, and providing a second light with a different spectral content within a narrow range of wavelengths to inhibit bacteria growth when humans are not detected.

  • Publication number: 20190174604
Abstract: A system and method for illuminating livestock within an agricultural dwelling. The system has a plurality of lighting assemblies that are electrically connected to a dimming device. The lighting assemblies are dimmed from a white color to predetermined wavelength to result in a predetermined behavior of the livestock. The predetermined wavelength and behavior includes a red wavelength that is undetected by the livestock thus resulting in the predetermined behavior of the livestock sleeping while workers can continue to work or function within the agricultural dwelling.

  • Patent number: 10314125
Abstract: An analog AC driven fully dimmable circuit that reduces the gap between peak current and a minimum current to improve dimming properties and provide additional functionality to a lighting device. The circuit provides ancillary circuitry that bypasses an analog step driving section of the circuit without the use of an ancillary transistor. The ancillary circuitry bypasses the analog step driving section of the circuit and has a capacitor to continuously provide current to the first series interconnection such that the first series interconnection continuously emits light during operation of the circuit.
