  • Patent number: 6063888
Abstract: A liquid radiation curable resin composition comprising a polydimethylsiloxane compound which has (i) at least two urethane bonds in one molecule, (ii) an unreactive organic group at at least one of the ends of the molecule, and (iii) a radical curable ethylenically unsaturated group at the other end of the molecule. The resin composition exhibits superior shelf life in a liquid state and produces cured products having slippery surface. It is suitable as a coating material for optical fibers.

  • Patent number: 5986018
Abstract: A liquid curable resin composition comprising a dialkylpolysiloxane particles with at least two urethane bonds and/or urea bonds in the terminal groups. The resin composition exhibits superior shelf life in a liquid state and produces cured products having a slippery surface. It is suitable as a coating material for optical fibers, particularly as a ribbon matrix material and a bundling material.

  • Patent number: 5913004
Abstract: Provided is an optical glass fiber coating composition which when coated on an optical glass fiber and suitably cured provides a coating having the combination of properties (i) through (iv):(i) a stable tensile modulus that is low at room temperature and over a broad range of temperatures below room temperature,(ii) an adhesion to the optical glass fiber sufficient to prevent structural defects and microbending in the optical glass fiber,(iii) the capability of being removed by stripping from the optical glass fiber substantially no residue left on the optical glass fiber, and(iv) which satisfies each of the following inequalities (I) and (II),X.ltoreq.0.2 kg/mm.sup.2 (I)X/Y.gtoreq.1/10 (II)wherein X is the tensile modulus (kg/mm.sup.2) measured at 23.degree. C. and Y is the tensile modulus (kg/mm.sup.2) measured at -40.degree. C.

  • Patent number: 5164469
Abstract: A transparent resin material consisting of a hydrogenation product of a (co)polymer obtained by subjecting at least one compound represented by general formula (I) or a combination of at least 5% by weight of said compound and 95% by weight or less of other copolymerizable cyclic olefin monomer to metathesis polymerization: ##STR1## wherein A and B are independently hydrogen atoms or C.sub.1-10 hydrocarbon groups; and X and Y are independently hydrogen atoms, C.sub.1-10 hydrocarbon groups, --C(CH.sub.2).sub.n COOR.sup.1 groups or --(CH.sub.2).sub.n OCOR.sup.1 groups [R.sup.1 is a C.sub.1-20 hydrocarbon group and n is 0 or an integer of 1-10] with the proviso that at least one of X and Y is selected from the above --(CH.sub.2).sub.n COOR.sup.1 and --(CH.sub.2).sub.n OCOR.sup.1 groups. Said transparent resin material is moldable and has sufficient optical properties, low hygroscopicity, good heat resistance and excellent adhesion to recording layer.
