The classes of molecules include at least three segments—an electronic donor (“D”), a switchable bridge (“B”), and an electronic acceptor (“A”)—chemically connected and linearly arranged (e.g., D-B-A).     Abstract: The present invention is drawn to a surfactant initiator. The surfactant initiator includes a first hydrophilic chemical group bonded to a first hydrophobic chemical group to form a first portion. A second portion is also included, made up of a second hydrophilic chemical group bonded to a second hydrophobic chemical group. A homolytic cleavable group chemically bonds the first and second portions. At least one of the first and second portions is configured to initiate free-radical polymerization upon separation of the homolytic cleavable group. Such surfactant initiators can be used to produce latex particulates and associated suspensions and inks.

    Abstract: A method for updating display image of an electrophoretic display panel and an electrophoretic display apparatus using the same are provided. In the aforementioned method, the gate lines of the electrophoretic display panel are divided into a first group and a second group. The display data related to pixels coupled to the gate lines of the fist group need not to be updated. Furthermore, the display data related to at least one of the pixels coupled to the gate lines of the second group need to be updated. The first type gate pulses are provided to the gate lines of the first group respectively, and second type gate pulses are provided to the gate lines of the second group respectively. The second type gate pulse has a predetermined pulse width. The pulse width of the first type gate pulse is shorter than the predetermined pulse width.

    Abstract: A dental oral mirror has a handgrip with a holding end and a gripping end, and a mirror frame connecting to the holding end. The handgrip and the mirror frame form a selected angle between them. The mirror frame has two opposite holding sides to hold respectively a mirror so that more light reflective angles are provided for dentists during treatment of patients and usability improves. The invention also can reduce wrist turning of the dentists during treatment and protect the wrist and neck of the dentists, and reduce professional injury that might otherwise occur.

    Abstract: An electromagnetic thermotherapeutic system is adapted to treat a biological tissue and includes an electromagnetic thermotherapeutic apparatus and a high frequency induction heating circuit unit. The apparatus includes a needle assembly and a temperature monitor. The needle assembly is adapted to be inserted in the biological tissue, and includes a flexible and bendable needle seat, and a plurality of ferrous needles that are attached to the needle seat and that have needle tips extending in a direction away from the needle seat. The temperature monitor is connected to the needle assembly. The high frequency induction heating circuit unit has an induction coil capable of producing an electromagnetic field to induce currents in the ferrous needles and to thereby heat the ferrous needles.

The method can comprise steps of protecting functional groups present on polymerizable monomers with photo labile groups to form protected monomers; polymerizing the protected monomers to form a protected polymer; and exposing the protected polymer to a wavelength of light that removes the photo labile groups from the functional groups, thereby forming the functionalized latex particulates. Other steps include copolymerizing the monomers to form precursor latex particulates dispersed within the hydrophilic phase, and reacting the precursor latex particulates with a base to form epoxide group-functionalized latex particulates. These latex particulates can be used in a wide variety of applications, including in ink-jet ink printing applications.
