For instance, an image inpainting system can apply guided upsampling to an inpainted image result to enable generation of a high-resolution inpainting result from a lower-resolution image that has undergone inpainting. To allow for guided upsampling during image inpainting, one or more neural networks can be used. For instance, a low-resolution result neural network (e.g., comprised of an encoder and a decoder) and a high-resolution input neural network (e.g., comprised of an encoder and a decoder). The image inpainting system can use such networks to generate a high-resolution inpainting image result that fills the hole, region, and/or portion of the image.

    Abstract: A high-frequency composite impactor including a high-frequency axial and a torsional impact assembly is disclosed. The high-frequency axial impact assembly includes an upper self-excited oscillation cavity, a lower self-excited oscillation cavity, an adjustment block and a lock nut. The torsional impact assembly includes an upper end cover, a reversing switch, a pendulum, a lower shell, a lower end cover, a nozzle, a connecting block and a retaining ring. The high-frequency axial impact assembly converts the flowing drilling fluid into a pulsed jet to achieve a high-frequency axial impact. The torsional impact assembly enables a torsional impact through a shunt, and finally enables a high-frequency composite impact, which can effectively reduce the stick-slip of the drill string, jump drilling and other downhole accidents. By reducing the friction between the drill string and the borehole wall, the impactor can reduce WOB loss, increase the ROP, and improve the drilling efficiency.

    Abstract: The present disclosure discloses a method for modifying a DNA by utilizing a glycosylase and an oxyamine compound, including the following steps: conducting solid phase synthesis of a DNA strand carrying a non-canonical base; reacting the DNA strand carrying a non-canonical base under the catalysis of the glycosylase which selectively recognizes the non-canonical base, to produce a DNA strand carrying an abasic site; and reacting the DNA strand carrying the abasic site with the oxyamine compound to generate a DNA modified with a chemical functional group. This method can realize diverse site-directed modification of the DNA, can be used to study the base structure-function relationship of a functional DNA, and construct a functional DNA with higher activity. The present method is simple and easy to use, and can reduce the cost and the time required for modification. The modified functional DNA has higher activity and can provide better tool molecules for biotechnology, disease diagnosis and treatment.

    Abstract: Nanofiltration membranes and methods of using and making thereof are disclosed. The nanofiltration membranes contain a silk layer, a porous substrate, and a selective layer. The silk layer is an interlayer sandwiched between the porous substrate and selective layer. The nanofiltration membranes have high performance for filtering water, such as improved water permeance and/or high ion removal rate. For example, the nanofiltration show a water permeance that is at least 2-fold, such as about 5-fold, of the water permeance of a commercially available nanofiltration membrane, such as DuPont FilmTec™ NF270 and/or DuPont FilmTec™ NF90, and an ion rejection of at least 70% against a target ion, such as a divalent or multivalent ion. The greatly improved water permeance of the nanofiltration membranes can result in up to a magnitude lower energy consumption in water filtration applications.
