Abstract: A hardware-independent proxy layer for synchronous processing of commands in a mobile telephone is disclosed. Such synchronous processing may include receiving a function call of an application program interface (API) that is associated with a function to be performed by a mobile telephone, waiting to receive from a driver layer a result notify event indicating that the function has been performed, and, after receiving the result notify event from the driver layer, passing to the client first result data associated with the first result notify event. The API may be translated into an input/output control (IOCTL) code, which may be sent to the driver layer.

Abstract: Systems and methods for transferring incoming single-ended burst signals of which at least one characteristic varies widely from burst to burst onto a pair of differential lines. The systems comprise an input for receiving an incoming burst signal, a signal adaptation block for adapting said widely varying characteristic and a single-ended-to-differential converter. In a first aspect a reset signal for resetting a settings determination block, which controls the signal adaptation block, is sent backwards over the differential lines, preferably using a common-mode signal. In a second aspect, a status freezing mechanism is employed for freezing the settings of the settings determination block after the end of the preamble of an incoming burst.

Abstract: Example methods and apparatus to upgrade communication services in subscriber distribution areas are disclosed. A disclosed example method involves installing an optical network unit communicatively coupled to an optical line terminal serving a subscriber distribution area communicatively coupled to the optical line terminal. The optical network unit includes a first subscriber downlink interface to serve a first subscriber premises and a second subscriber downlink interface to serve a second subscriber premises. A first communication service is provided to the first subscriber premises via a first electrically conductive medium communicatively coupled to the first subscriber downlink interface via a first removably attachable subscriber downlink module. A second communication service is provided to the second subscriber premises via a second electrically conductive medium communicatively coupled to the second subscriber downlink interface via a second removably attachable subscriber downlink module.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for protecting user information. The method includes receiving a request for accessing the user information from an application. When the request does not include an authorized token, the user is requested to temporally confirm the request for access. In response to the confirmation, a token is generated and the user on a mobile service platform is associated with the request for access by the token. The application is then allowed to access the user information based on the token associating the user with the request for accessing the user information from the application.

A plurality of unequal zone partitions is created, wherein an unequal zone partition of the plurality of unequal zone partitions represents a physical region of the at least one magnetic disk and wherein the plurality of unequal zone partitions are based on the information regarding the off-track displacement of the track and are used by the controller to compensate for the off-track displacement of the track.

The method includes providing a photovoltaic cell having a front surface and a back surface and forming a first grid pattern on the front surface and second grid pattern on the back surface. The first grid pattern includes a first plurality of strip columns in parallel in a first direction and a plurality of grid lines in parallel in a second direction perpendicularly crossing the first plurality of strip columns. The second grid pattern includes a plurality of blocks separated by a plurality of streets parallel in the second direction and a second plurality of strip columns parallel in the first direction. The method further includes dicing the photovoltaic cell along the plurality of streets into a plurality of photovoltaic strips. Each of the plurality of photovoltaic strips includes at least one of the plurality of grid lines.
