  • Patent number: 9762422
Abstract: A method of wireless communication by a user equipment includes determining an allocation of a set of tones in a symbol for conveying data. The method further includes determining to use m-ary phase shift keying (MPSK) to modulate the data onto a subset of tones of the set of tones. The method further includes modulating the data onto the subset of tones based on a mapping, wherein the mapping maps pairs of data values with a largest Hamming distance from each other to pairs of constellation points with a maximum Euclidean distance from each other.

  • Patent number: 9565686
Abstract: Co-channel operation systems, methods, and devices are discussed in this document. Some embodiments can include remote stations configured for co-channel operation with one or more other remote stations. Remote stations can generally comprise a processor and a memory in electronic communication with the processor. Instructions can be stored in the memory, and when executed by the processor cause a remote station to receive a first data sequence from a first base station; use the first data sequence to distinguish a first signal transmitted by the first base station from unwanted signals transmitted by one or more other base stations; and demodulate the first signal. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.

  • Publication number: 20160142950
Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure provide for an apparatus configured to receive a transmission from a serving cell utilizing a single antenna while the apparatus is operating in a first mode. While the apparatus is operating in a second mode, the apparatus may be configured to measure a signal quality of a neighbor cell utilizing at least one of two or more antennas and use receive diversity (RxD) to receive the transmission from the serving cell utilizing the two or more antennas. While the apparatus is operating in a third mode, the apparatus may be further configured to use only RxD to receive the transmission from the serving cell utilizing the two or more antennas. The first mode may be a single-antenna mode. The second mode may be a hybrid-antenna mode. The third mode may be an RxD-only mode.

  • Patent number: 9198180
Abstract: An opportunistic receive diversity scheme for VAMOS and similar deployments is disclosed. Receive diversity may be conditionally enabled when a VAMOS call is assigned to one of the SIMs of a mobile device. For example, receive diversity may be enabled when VAMOS data does not overlap with a time slot that is used by another subscription of the mobile device for receiving page messages. Also, receive diversity for a VAMOS call may be limited to situations where the VAMOS channel conditions are poor. Receive diversity may be enabled in cases where multiple subscriptions are assigned the same VAMOS channel, where VAMOS channel conditions have deteriorated, or where one of the subscriptions is not on a VAMOS channel. Also, receive diversity may be dynamically enabled for multiple subscriptions in cases where the subscriptions are assigned to different VAMOS channels.

  • Patent number: 9078147
Abstract: Apparatus and methods are disclosed to improve a user equipment's capability of performing time and frequency tracking by utilizing two carriers when the channel interference on one of the carriers is greater than a certain threshold. In one aspect of the disclosure, a user equipment (UE) determines that channel interference of a first carrier is greater than an interference threshold. The UE performs frequency tracking and time tracking in accordance with information received from a second carrier, and performs interference cancellation in accordance with the frequency tracking and time tracking. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.

  • Patent number: 9078118
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention include wireless communication systems having one or more network components that can communicate with at least one mobile station in an interference environment. A transmitter can transmit data indicating a set of communication modes in which a mobile station is capable of operating and for at least one mode of communication in the set an indication of interference rejection capability. The indicating data can be received by a receiver. A resource allocator can allocate system resources based on the indicating data for use during a connection between network components (e.g., a network apparatus and a mobile station). Allocation of system resources can fully or partially depend on a connection's communication mode, an indication of interference rejection capability of a mobile station for the mode of communication of the connection, and/or an interference environment expected during the connection. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.
