  • Publication number: 20090143871
Abstract: Controller scaling and parameterization are described. Techniques that can be improved by employing the scaling and parameterization include, but are not limited to, controller design, tuning and optimization. The scaling and parameterization methods described here apply to transfer function based controllers, including PID controllers. The parameterization methods also apply to state feedback and state observer based controllers, as well as linear active disturbance rejection (ADRC) controllers. Parameterization simplifies the use of ADRC. A discrete extended state observer (DESO) and a generalized extended state observer (GESO) are described. They improve the performance of the ESO and therefore ADRC. A tracking control algorithm is also described that improves the performance of the ADRC controller. A general algorithm is described for applying ADRC to multi-input multi-output systems. Several specific applications of the control systems and processes are disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20090005886
Abstract: Multiple designs, systems, methods and processes for controlling a system or plant using an extended active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) based controller are presented. The extended ADRC controller accepts sensor information from the plant. The sensor information is used in conjunction with an extended state observer in combination with a predictor that estimates and predicts the current state of the plant and a co-joined estimate of the system disturbances and system dynamics. The extended state observer estimates and predictions are used in conjunction with a control law that generates an input to the system based in part on the extended state observer estimates and predictions as well as a desired trajectory for the plant to follow.

  • Publication number: 20070209068
Abstract: Embodiments are directed toward a method for Behavior-based Traffic Differentiation (BTD) that initially receives incoming packets and performs traffic classification to determine the protocol of the incoming packets. In addition, BTD performs bandwidth division/allocation to further support traffic classification amongst non-TCP traffic such as UDP and ICMP. For TCP traffic, the method for BTD determines whether a TCP connection has been established and performs at least one of rate limiting, waiting time reduction for half-open connections, and incrementing backlog queue size when the TCP connection has not been established. If the TCP connection has been established successfully, the method for BTD further includes proactive tests for traffic differentiation which identify normal traffic, which is admitted, and attack traffic, which is dropped.

  • Patent number: 7052591
Abstract: Thin films of transition metal complex-based redox polymers are electrodeposited on electrodes. When hydrated, an electrodeposited film conducts electrons by electron exchange between backbone-bound, but mobile, functional segments of its redox polymer constituents. These functional segments, or redox complexes, have labile ligands in their inner coordination spheres. The backbones of the redox polymers have strongly coordinating ligands. Electrodeposition results from coordinative crosslinking by exchange of labile ligands and strongly coordinating ligands between polymer chains. When a biological macromolecule or protein, such as a redox enzyme, is added to the solution from which the redox polymer is electrodeposited, it is co-electrodeposited on the electrode surface. When the co-deposited film contains redox enzymes, for example, the modified electrode may be used to catalyze the electrooxidation or electroreduction of substrates of the enzymes.
