    Abstract: A method and an analyzer for detecting impurities in refrigerant (e.g. methyl chloride (R40) or Chlorodifiuoromethane (R22)), wherein the refrigerant analyzer (12) includes a first sensing device (16), preferably a non-dispersive infrared sensor (NDIR), in flow communication with a second sensing device (18), preferably an electrochemical sensor. The first sensing device is configured to determine a first characteristic of a refrigerant (e.g. absorbance in the IR range), and the second sensing device is configured to detect a second characteristic of the refrigerant (e.g. concentration in ppmv). Preferably, the refrigerant analyzer is a part of a system for detecting impurities (10) and further preferably it comprises flow regulators (20), a scrubber (24) and a processor (22). The scrubber is preferably in flow communication with the first sensing device and it preferably comprises a packing material comprising alumina (Al2O3, aluminum oxide).

    Abstract: In one aspect, methods of sensing are described herein. In some embodiments, a method of sensing includes disposing a fluorophore in a biological environment, wherein the fluorophore includes a dioxo-pyridine ring (DPR) or a thiazolopyridine acid (TPA). The method further includes exposing the biological environment to electromagnetic radiation having a wavelength corresponding to an excitation wavelength of the fluorophore, detecting light emitted by the fluorophore, and correlating the light emitted by the fluorophore to a presence or absence of an analyte within the biological environment in an amount above a minimum detection threshold. The presence of the analyte can increase or decrease the amount of light emitted by the fluorophore. The presence of the analyte may also shift the peak emission wavelength or alter the fluorescence lifetime of the fluorophore. The analyte, in some embodiments, includes hydrogen ions, halide ions, and/or halogens.

    Abstract: This invention belongs to the field of biomass energy utilization at the large scale. A material stirring device for a biomass bin includes a transmission mechanism, a main stirring mechanism, and an auxiliary stirring mechanism. The main stirring mechanism includes a cylinder connected to the transmission mechanism. The outer wall of the cylinder is provided with a hollow stirring rod. The auxiliary stirring mechanism includes a rotating shaft vertically penetrating through the hollow stirring rod. Both ends of the rotating shaft are provided with stirring blades and the rotating shaft is connected to the transmission mechanism. That the stirring device is easily damaged due to too high density of the biomass material is overcome through the automatic conversion adjustment of the main and auxiliary stirring mechanisms. The continuous discharge efficiency of the biomass bin is improved by the organic integration of over and partial stirring.
