  • Publication number: 20100142960
Abstract: An upgrading method, a system, and an apparatus of a low-density wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) system are provided. The method includes: detecting an output wavelength shift of a wavelength conversion unit, and adjusting an output wavelength of the wavelength conversion unit having the output wavelength shift higher than a threshold, so that the output wavelength shift of the wavelength conversion unit is lower than the threshold; adjusting an adjustable interleaved demultiplexer, until requirements for a demultiplexing parameter of a high-density WDM system are met. Thus, the problem that services are interrupted when a low-density MDM system is upgraded to a high-density MDM system is solved. A WDM system, and a wavelength multiplexing/demultiplexing apparatus and method are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20100021168
Abstract: A grooming apparatus for an optical communication network is disclosed. The apparatus mainly includes a first photoelectric integration unit and an electrical-layer grooming unit. The first photoelectric integration unit includes a wavelength division multiplexing/demultiplexing unit and a photo-electric/electric-photo conversion unit. The wavelength division demultiplexing unit is configured to demultiplex a multi-wavelength optical signal into single-wavelength optical signals. The photo-electric conversion unit is configured to convert the single-wavelength optical signals to single-wavelength electrical signals. The electrical-layer grooming unit is configured to groom the single-wavelength electrical signals. The present invention overcomes the fatal defect of light dispersion, light power estimation, light power adjustment, OSNR limitation for a conventional OADM/ROADM system. Also, the flexibility of the electrical-layer grooming eliminates the wavelength broadcast and multicast issue.

  • Patent number: 7091969
Abstract: A method of polygonizing an object calculates indicators that points within a set (Q) of points within three space representing the object likely lie near a surface discontinuity of the object. A global mesh is formed around a point that likely does not lie near a surface discontinuity (i.e. a reliable point). Local meshes are formed about reliable points on the frontier of this global mesh. Each local mesh is combined with the global mesh, thereby adding to the global mesh and advancing the frontier. Once a local mesh has been formed about each reliable point on the frontier and added to the global mesh, a local mesh may be formed about a point on the frontier that is more likely to lie near a surface discontinuity. The formation of local meshes can be repeated until no frontiers are left, or until all points have been added to the global mesh.

  • Patent number: 6931133
Abstract: A method of restricting access to private keys in a public key infrastructure provides for storage of an encrypted private key at a primary site. A masked session key is stored at a secondary site, where the masked session key enables recovery of the private key. • Patent number: 6825839
Abstract: This invention presents a method to extract atomic parts of a graphics model using its skeleton. A skeleton is a fully collapsed body of the model, and is obtained through a novel way to contract edges of the model. From the skeleton, atomic parts or features each is a part of the model that is distinctively autonomous from its connected or neighboring body is formed through space sweeping. Next, atomic parts can be connected into a hierarchy depending on the eventual interactive visualization applications. The operation of the method includes the steps of interactively computing, displaying and recording skeleton, atomic parts, and object hierarchies in response to user commands to, for example, modifying skeleton, atomic parts or object hierarchies. Object hierarchies are useful to various applications such as object scene management, view-dependent simplification, mesh-mapping, morphing, and building bounding volume hierarchies.
