Line holder

Abstract

A single body holder for a random length of line. A convenient handle in the center is used to safely and efficiently control the unit while a line is wrapped either way around it. The main body is comprised of a center and four prongs that extend out past the handle. The item is unique in its design to effectively wind line while efficiently holding the line holder.

BACKGROUND OF INVENTION

[0002] The present invention pertains generally but is not limited to devices for holding a line several feet of length in an orderly fashion.

[0003] 2. Description of the Prior Art

[0004] in the prior art are several types holders for the storage of random lengths of line.

[0005] Three main problems not addressed by the prior work include but are not limited to, one, an efficient way to control the holder while in use; two, effective design to hold large and small amounts of line; three, an effective method to store the end of the line once finished.

[0006] U.S. Pat. D437,773 S contains a handle but of much larger size and one which comprises the majority of its body.

[0007] U.S. Pat. D437,773 S has unequal sides which do not allow for larger amount of line to be securely attached.

[0008] U.S. Pat. D437,773 S is void of a hole to safely tuck and store the end of the line once finished.

[0009] Other line holders utilize a crank system to wind the rope up on its body and to retain the line on that holder until unwound.

[0010] For these reasons many known line holders tend to be awkward to use, inefficient in design for line length and impractical for safely securing the end of the line.

SUMMARY OF INVENTION

[0011] The present invention is a single flat unit meant to hold a random length of line. The unique design allows for easy handling, efficient storage and easy containment of the lines end.

[0012] The handle is cut out in the center of one side within the unit. This allows for the user to hold and manipulate the piece in a more effective manner while the other hand is free to manipulate the line. Either right or left-handed persons can use the unit.

[0013] The four ends that extend farther out than the center are of equal and sufficient length to uniformly retain the line onto the holder. The equal length of the extensions does not allow for the line to possibly slip away from either end of the holder.

[0014] Finally, there is a hole in one extension that goes entirely through the holder. It allows for various kinds of line to be entered through it and knotted or tucked under line on the other side to keep it from slipping back through the hole and unraveling the line.

[0015] Important objectives include being able to wind a line while at the same time allowing efficient control of the unit. The small handle cut out of the top is large enough to accommodate most hands but small enough in relation to its size to manipulate the holder efficiently. The equal length of the extensions allows for ropes of many sizes to remain on the holder, whereas past inventions had uneven designs that could allow the rope to slip away. Finally, the hole in which the end of the line is entered through is unique to the holder in that other devices have not pinpointed a usable hole as its method for storing the end of the line. Past devices usually had a crevasse or edge to either pressure into or tie onto.

[0016] A final objective that is unique to the holder is that its flat, rectangular uniform shaping makes for easier storage with or without line attached to it. This differs from past holders that have more complex and awkward designs.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0022] With continuing attention to the drawings FIG. 7 and FIG. 4 are labeled with three numbers to distinguish characteristics unique to the holder.

[0023] Num. 1 in FIG. 7 and FIG. 4 indicates the handle which is large enough to accommodate most size hands but effectively placed in the center for maximum control of the holder.

[0024] Num. 2 in FIG. 7 and FIG. 4 indicates the hole unique to the holder in its purpose to receive the end of the line.

[0025] Num 3 in FIG. 7 and FIG. 4 indicates the four uniformly shaped and sized arms, which extend from the main body to contain the line on the holder.

Claims

1. An effective and adequately sized handle, cut out but combined within the holder proper.

2. Adequate and uniform lengths of the extended arms which retain the line on the holder.

3. A unique hole within one of the extended arms to store the lines end.

4. The flat and rectangular construction provides for easy storage.
