BACK GROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0008] The present invention concerns a laser beam incorporated inside a spear gun. The invention helps a spearfisherman correct the visual refraction distortions inside the water.

[0009] When diving, one of the most difficult tasks for a spear gun fisherman is to aim accurately at the target due to the phenomenon of refraction distortions. This phenomenon is responsible for most missed shots. To take good aim, it is necessary that the hunter's line of vision and the spear gun are on the same axis, and that this axis is perpendicular to the hunter's mask glass.

[0010] If the hunter's line of vision isn't perpendicular to the mask glass, in spite of the fact that the spear gun is aiming at the target, the shot will miss.

[0011] The laser sight corrects the refraction distortions by showing the hunter the real position of the target without requiring the alignments explained above. This device improves the shot performance of the spear gun fisherman.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0012] The present invention was designed to be waterproof and to withstand the water pressure during diving. The device is made up of 1) a capsule that is unscrewed in half and contains a laser light source and batteries, 2) a magnetic switch to turn the laser source on or off, 3) a cable that crosses the spear gun's barrel on the inside and connects the capsule to the magnetic switch, and 4) a floating cylinder across the barrel of the weapon, where the dimensions of the cylinder depend on the dimensions of the barrel of the weapon. The dimensions of the capsule that contains the laser light source and batteries can vary depending on the model of the weapon. All these parts can be changed. The adaptations that must be done to the weapon to incorporate the device are: an hole at the shooting end of the weapon for the laser ray to exit, an opening in the weapon the near the trigger where the magnetic switch will be located, and the extraction of the tampons that retain the air within the weapon's barrel in order to place the cable that connects the magnetic switch to the laser capsule.

[0017] FIG. 5 Is an enlarged detail of the FIG. 2 to illustrate the position of the laser device in the spear gun handle.

[0018] FIG. 6 Is a longitudinal cross sectional view of the extreme of the laser device, were there are the capsule that contain the laser light source and the batteries.

[0019] FIG. 7 Is a transversal cross sectional view of the spear gun who show the position of the cable and the floating bar

[0020] FIG. 8 Is a longitudinal cross sectional view of the extreme of the laser device who insert into the switch that control the laser device.

[0021] FIG. 9 Is a longitudinal cross sectional view of the switch that controls the laser device.

[0022] FIG. 10 Is an exploded perspective view of the laser device of the present invention.

DETAIL DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0023] FIG. 1 is a frontal view of the weapon with the incorporated laser. Near the trigger of weapon 24, part of the switch that controls the laser, switch 1, can be seen. The end of weapon 25 has an opening where Laser ray A exits. Laser ray A is parallel to harpoon 26.

[0024] FIG. 2 is a cross section of the weapon that shows the positioning of floating material 21 inside the barrel of weapon 23. The elements of the laser in the front and back of the weapon are better shown in FIGS. 4 and 5.

[0025] FIG. 3 is a perspective of the laser. Externally the device is made up of glass 6 by where it shoots the laser ray, front half of capsule 2, back half of capsule 3, connection rubber 5 that connects cable 20 to the back part of capsule 3, an optional cylinder of floating material 21, the final part of cable 9 that connects to switch 7, and the activator of switch 1.

[0026] FIGS. 4 - 5 are a detailed close up of FIG. 2, showing the positioning of the laser in the weapon. In the front part of the weapon is the capsule of the laser; cable 20 crosses the barrel 23 of the weapon; in handle 22 there is an opening near the trigger of weapon 24 to incorporate the switch 7 and its activator 1

[0027] FIG. 6 is a longitudinal section of the open capsule. It shows the positioning of glass 6 in the front half of capsule 2, has part of its inner surface in spiral for screw. The source of laser ray 10 is positioned in the front part of capsule 2, a connector 19 connects the batteries 8 to the source of laser ray 10. Another connector 18 connects source of laser ray 10 with connector 17 in the back of capsule 3, another connector joins one of the two poles of cable 20 with battery 8. An isolating rubber 4 prevents water from entering capsule through the opening on its back 3, has part of its outer surface in spiral for screw. Isolating connection rubber 16 allows cable 20 to go into the capsule but prevents water infiltration through the back part of capsule 3.

[0028] FIG. 7 is a cross section of the tube of weapon 23. This figure shows the positioning of the cylinder of floating material 21 and of cable 20.

[0029] FIG. 8 is a longitudinal section of the part of the invention that connects to the switch in FIG. 9. Cable 20 is connected to a closed box 9 which contains a fine sheet of stainless steel 13 that flexes when the device is connected and touches lower stainless steel 14, in effect closing the electrical circuit and igniting the laser ray; a small insulating sheet 15 separates the two stainless steel sheets when the circuit is disconnected.

[0030] FIG. 9 is a longitudinal section of the switch that controls the laser. It includes box 7 that receives in its upper part the end of the cable in FIG. 8; a piece that activates switch 1, this piece broken in its central axis, a magnet 11 placed in a cavity within the activator of switch 1. A sheet of stainless steel 12 that maintains the device in the off state, located in the lower inside part of the box of switch 7.

[0031] FIG. 10 is a zoomed perspective of the laser device, where the size of cable 20 and floating material 21 depend on the size of the weapon's barrel, and the barrel's diameter
