Description
CROSS REFERENCES AND RELATED SUBJECT MATTER

[0001] This application relates to subject matter contained in utility patent application Ser. No. 09/371,876, filed in the United States Patent Office on Aug. 7, 1999.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002] The invention relates to a golf emergency kit. More particularly, the invention comprises numerous items that are useful while playing a round of golf.

[0003] Over the past couple of years, the sport of golf has enjoyed an increase in popularity. Players have taken up the sport for enjoyment, as well as a good source of exercise.

[0004] A round of golf, consisting of 18 holes, takes approximately four to five hours to complete. During this time, many situations could arise that would dampen a player's enjoyment of the game, or alternatively, cause the player to cease the game altogether. Had some items been accessible to the golfer at the time the situation arose, the game could be continued to completion. However, most players do not contemplate the possible obstacles that could occur; thus, the necessary items are usually unobtainable at the time they are needed.

[0005] There is a need in the field for a kit that contains items that could potentially be needed by golf players while playing a round of golf. The kit should be compact enough to enable the golfer to fit it into his/her golf bag.

[0006] U.S. Pat. No. 5,515,974 to Higson discloses an emergency and security kit, housed in a case, including a variety of articles needed in an emergency, namely a flashlight, first aid kit and fire extinguisher. While this kit may contain useful items in an emergency, it is not tailored to the needs of a golf player.

[0007] While these units may be suitable for the particular purpose employed, or for general use, they would not be as suitable for the purposes of the present invention as disclosed hereafter.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0008] It is an object of the invention to produce a golf emergency kit.

[0009] It is a further object of the invention to produce a golf emergency kit that is compact enough to be carried in a standard golf bag.

[0010] It is a further object of the invention to produce a golf emergency kit that comprises a variety of articles that are useful to one playing a round of golf.

[0011] The invention is a golf emergency kit that comprises a variety of articles stored in a case. The case, having a top compartment and a bottom compartment, is constructed of a durable plastic. It is compact to enable a user to store it in a standard golf bag. The bottom compartment is lined with a foam bed with cut outs that are specifically designed to fit a particular article. The top compartment of the case has a plurality of elastic bands that extend over the compartment. The remainder of the articles are secured under these bands in order to hold them in place when the case is closed. Some of the articles stored in the golf emergency kit are a water bottle, tissues, insect repellent, bandages and aspirin.

[0012] Objects and advantages of this invention will become apparent from the following description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings wherein are set forth, by way of illustration and example, certain embodiments of this invention.

[0013] The drawings constitute a part of this specification and include exemplary embodiments of the present invention and illustrate various objects and features thereof.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0014] In the drawings, like elements are depicted by like reference numerals. The drawings are briefly described as follows.

[0015] FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the golf emergency kit, illustrating the individual items stored in a carrying case.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

[0016] As required, detailed embodiments of the present invention are disclosed herein; however, it is to be understood that the disclosed embodiments are merely exemplary of the invention, which may be embodied in various forms; therefore, specific structural and functional details disclosed herein are not to be interpreted as limiting, but merely as a basis for the claims and as a representative basis for the claims and as a representative basis for teaching one skilled in the art to variously employ the present invention in virtually any appropriately detailed structure.

[0017] FIG. 1 illustrates a perspective view of various articles contained in a golf emergency kit 10. All of the articles are contained in a case 12 that is small enough to fit inside one's golf bag. The case 12, when in the open position, has a bottom compartment 14 and a top compartment 16 in which the articles are stored and is constructed of a durable plastic.

[0018] The bottom compartment 14 is lined with a foam bed 18 with cut outs that are specifically designed to fit a particular article. The articles contained in the bottom compartment 14 are a water bottle 20, a bottle of sun screen 22, a bottle of insect repellent 24, and a package of tissues 26.

[0019] The top compartment 16 of the case 12 has a plurality of elastic bands 28 that extend over the compartment 16. The remainder of the articles are secured under these bands 28 in order to hold them in place when the case 12 is closed. Examples of the articles that can be found in the top compartment 16 are safety pins, tape, bandages, alcohol swabs, lip moisturizer, eye drops, antacid tablets, repair kit for glasses, nail file, aspirin, disinfectant, and petroleum jelly.

[0020] The articles contained in the kit 10 are selected to meet any possible situation that may arise while one is playing golf. The case 12 is designed to hold a variety of items that may be customized according to the needs of the user. Once the articles in the kit are used, replacements can be added or substituted. The user, equipped with the golf emergency kit 10, is ready for an enjoyable round of golf, without fear of encountering a situation for which he/she is not prepared.
