Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The present invention relates to a deck chair and, more particularly, to a folding collapsible deck chair that keeps the stand received within the area of the seat frame of the seat to minimize vertical space occupation when collapsed.

[0002] In order to minimize space occupation, folding collapsible furniture are developed. FIGS. 6 and 7 show a folding collapsible deck chair according to the prior art. This structure of folding collapsible deck chair is functional, however it still occupies much storage space when collapsed because the frames are arranged in a stack when folded up.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0003] The present invention has been accomplished to provide a folding collapsible deck chair, which eliminates the aforesaid drawbacks. According to one aspect of the present invention, the folding collapsible deck chair is comprised of a seat, a backrest, a footrest, and two stands. The stands each have a width smaller than the seat frame of the seat for enabling the stands to be received within the area of the seat frame of the seat when collapsed, and two couplings respectively pivoted to two ends of front and rear side of the seat frame of said seat. The couplings each have a lug that limits the turning angle of the stands relative to the seat frame of the seat. According to another aspect of the present invention the backrest frame of the backrest and the footrest frame of the footrest are smoothly arched.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0005] FIG. 2 is an exploded view in an enlarged scale of a part of the present invention.

[0006] FIG. 3 is a perspective view in an enlarged scale of a part of the present invention, showing the stand received within the area of the seat frame of the seat.

[0007] FIG. 4 is a side view showing the folding collapsible deck chair folded up according to the present invention.

[0008] FIG. 5 is a top view in an enlarged scale of a part of the present invention when collapsed.

[0009] FIG. 6 is a perspective view of a part of a folding collapsible deck chair constructed according to the prior art.

[0010] FIG. 7 is side view in an enlarged scale of the prior art folding collapsible deck chair when collapsed.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

[0011] Referring to FIGS. From 1 through 5, a folding collapsible deck chair 100 in accordance with the present invention is generally comprised of a seat 1, a backrest 2, a footrest 3, and two stands 4. The seat 1 comprises a seat frame 10. Similar to conventional designs, the backrest 2 and the footrest 3 have the respective backrest frame 20 and footrest frame 30 respectively angle-adjustably hinged to front and rear sides of the seat frame 10 of the seat 1. The backrest frame 20 and the footrest frame 30 are smoothly arched. The stands 4 are respectively coupled to the front and rear sides of the seat frame 10 of the seat 1, and adapted to support the folding collapsible deck chair 100 on the floor. The width of the stands 4 is slightly smaller than the width of the seat frame 10 of the seat 1 so that the stands 4 can be received within the area of the seat frame 10 when folding up the folding collapsible deck chair 100 from the extended position to the collapsed position.

[0012] The stands 4 each have two couplings 40 respectively pivoted to two ends of the front or rear side of the seat frame 10 of the seat 1 at the bottom side. The couplings 40 each have a lug 41 that limits the turning angle of the respective stand 4 relative to the seat frame 10 of the seat 1.

[0013] When extending out the stands 4, the lugs 41 of the couplings 40 are respectively stopped against the seat frame 10 of the seat 1 at the bottom side, and therefore the stands 4 are stopped in the extended position to support the extended folding collapsible deck chair 100 stably on the floor. When not in use, the stands 4 are respectively turned inwards to move the respective couplings 40 away from the seat frame 10 of the seat 1, and then received within the area of the seat frame 10 of the seat 1 and closely attached to the bottom side of the seat 1. Further, because the backrest frame 20 of the backrest 2 and the footrest frame 30 of the footrest 3 are smoothly arched, the backrest 2 and the footrest 3 are received within the area of the seat frame 10 of the seat 1 and rested on the top side of the seat 1 when collapsed.

[0014] A prototype of folding collapsible deck chair has been constructed with the features of FIGS. 1˜5. The folding collapsible deck chair functions smoothly to provide all of the features discussed earlier.

[0015] Although a particular embodiment of the invention has been described in detail for purposes of illustration, various modifications and enhancements may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. Accordingly, the invention is not to be limited except as by the appended claims.
