The upper frame member is made up of a back and seat support portion and a lower leg support portion, and the lower frame member is made up of a ground-engaging portion with opposite sides terminating in upwardly and rearwardly inclined portions. Rotational connectors secure upper extremities of the inclined portions to the upper frame member such that the sides of the lower frame member are selectively movable between erect and collapsed orientations. The sides of the lower frame member fold inwardly in crossed overlying relation to one another against the upper frame member in the collapsed orientation. A cross member includes one end pivotally connected to a rearward end of a first of the sides and an opposite end provided with a clip for detachable engagement with either a latch bracket on a rearward end of a second of the sides in an erect orientation or alternatively with the first side in a collapsed orientation.

  • Patent number: 5460430
Abstract: A seat for an infant includes a base frame portion which includes a pair of upwardly and rearwardly extending inclined members, a pair of connecting assemblies, a collapsible back frame portion, a leg frame portion, and a cover on the back and leg frame portions. The connecting assemblies are operative for connecting the back and leg frame portions to the inclined members so that the back frame portion normally extends upwardly and rearwardly therefrom, and so that the leg frame portion normally extends forwardly therefrom, but so that the leg and back frame portions are optionally pivotable rearwardly and downwardly to a collapsed position of the seat without requiring disassembly thereof.

  • Patent number: 5435620
Abstract: A chair includes a seat frame and a base frame each having a pair of rods coupled to a support frame by four couplers. Each of the couplers has a groove for engaging with the rods of the seat frame and the base frame. The seat frame and the base frame can be supported in parallel with each other when the rods are engaged in the grooves of the couplers. The seat frame and the base frame can be rotated to contact with the support frame when the rods are disengaged from the grooves of the couplers, so as to form a compact configuration.

  • Patent number: 5429413
Abstract: A folding lounger with a frame having parallel longitudinal elements each of which is provided with two hinges defining a central portion forming the seat to which are hinged folding legs. The frame also has an upper portion and a lower portion each of which includes a fabric stretched between the two longitudinal elements, as well as at least two supporting crossbars arranged one at each end of the frame. The folding legs are mounted at each end of the seat on joints fastened to the respective hinges the joints being provided so that the folded legs can be juxtaposed in pairs. Support bars are provided with a joint so they can lie alongside the longitudinal elements to allow them to be brought together on folding, whereby the fabric becomes slack and lies outside the structure to avoid being damaged when the lounger is fully folded. The lounger further comprises locking devices for locking and stabilizing the chair when it is fully unfolded and ready for use.

  • Patent number: 4527829
Abstract: The present wheel chair, especially for invalids, is foldable in a vertical irection rather than horizontally to transform the chair into a very compact package. For this purpose all foldable components of the chair are equipped with journals having journal axes extending perpendicularly to a vertical central plane of symmetry of the chair. Further, the seat is vertically liftable and also horizontally guided on guide tracks (18) extending in parallel to the plane of symmetry of the chair. The guide tracks (18) are movable back and forth on guide rail sections (17) which are pivoted to the top of the support structure (4) of the chair. Hydraulic piston cylinder drives are connected to all chair components which are movable under a loaded condition with a person sitting in the chair. The chair seat is also divided so that the chair may be moved directly over a toilet seat, for example.
