Abstract

A hand-worn cleaning cloth dimensioned to be secured around a dorsal surface of a hand in order to permit the dorsal surface of the hand to clean glass surfaces with the cloth secured about the hand.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0001] This invention relates generally to cleaning cloths and, more specifically, to a cleaning cloth dimensioned to be attached to the dorsal area of a hand to enable a person to clean glass and window surfaces with the dorsal area of a hand.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002] Cleaning glass and windows often requires the use of a towel, shammy or glass cleaning cloth After spraying some kind of cleaning agent, a person often grasps one of the A aforementioned cloths and rubs it over the surface of the glass or window. It is often the case, however, that when cleaning hard to reach areas, such as the inside surface of the windshield and the inside back window of a car, it is difficult for a person to initiate a rubbing motion with the palmer surface of one's hand. Using the palm of one's hand to clean the inside windshield, back window and other angled or low windows is not only inefficient, but it also puts strain on the muscles and tendons of the arm.

[0003] Generally, when cleaning a window, cabinet or other item that requires rubbing a cloth-type material, one uses the palmer surface of one's hand for reaching areas that are roughly waist-high and above. When the hand is lowered below the waist, it is impractical to use the palmer surface of the hand without putting strain on the muscles and tendons of the hand and the arm.

[0004] It is therefore preferable to use the dorsal area of the hand to clean low or angled windows. It is extremely difficult, however, for the dorsal area of the hand to grip a cloth. The options left available to one cleaning such hard to reach areas is to use the palmer portion of the hand with the aforementioned deficiencies or to inefficiently use the dorsal area of the hand.

[0005] A need therefore existed for a hand-worn cleaning cloth dimensioned to be secured around a dorsal surface of a hand in order to permit the dorsal surface of the hand to clean glass surfaces.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0006] An object of the present invention is to provide a hand-worn cleaning cloth capable of providing the dorsal surface of a hand with a glass-cleaning cloth so as to permit a person to use the dorsal surface of their hand to clean low and angled glass surfaces.

[0007] It is a further object of the present invention to provide a method for cleaning glass capable of allowing a person to use the dorsal surface of a hand to clean low and angled glass surfaces.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

[0008] In accordance with one embodiment of the present invention, a hand-worn cleaning cloth is disclosed, comprising a cloth having a first end and a second end and a first side and a second side, wherein the first side comprises a male coupling mechanism proximate the first end and the second side comprises a female coupling mechanism proximate the second end and dimensioned to be coupled to the male coupling mechanism, wherein the male coupling mechanism and the female coupling mechanism are dimensioned to be coupled proximate a palmer surface of a hand so that the cloth is secured around a dorsal surface of a hand enabling the dorsal surface of a hand to clean a glass surface with the cloth secured about the hand.

[0009] In accordance with another embodiment of the present invention, a method for cleaning glass is disclosed, comprising, in combination, the steps of providing a cloth having a first end and a second end and a first side and a second side, the first side comprises a male coupling mechanism proximate the first end and the second side comprises a female coupling mechanism proximate the second end, coupling the male coupling mechanism to the female coupling mechanism proximate a palmer surface of a hand so that the cloth is secured around a dorsal surface of a hand, wiping the dorsal surface of the hand with the cloth secured thereabout over a glass surface to clean the glass surface.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

[0017] Referring to FIGS. 1-5, reference number 10 refers generally to the preferred embodiment of the hand-worn cleaning cloth of the present invention. The hand-worn cleaning cloth 10 comprises a cloth 12 having a first end 14 and a second end 16 and a first side 18 (shown in FIGS. 2 and 5) and a second side 20 (shown in FIGS. 1A, 1B, 2, 3, and 4). The first side 18 comprises a male coupling mechanism 22 (shown in FIGS. 2, 4 and 5) proximate the first end 14 and the second side 20 comprises a female coupling mechanism 24 (shown in FIGS. 3-4) proximate the second end 16.

[0018] The male coupling mechanism 22 and the female coupling mechanism 24 are dimensioned to be coupled to one another proximate a palmer surface of a hand 26 (shown in FIGS. 1A-1B) so that the cloth 12 is secured around a dorsal surface 28 (shown in FIG. 1A-1B) of the hand 26 enabling the dorsal surface 23 of the hand 26 to clean a glass surface 30 with the cloth 12 secured about the hand 26.

[0019] In the preferred embodiment, the male coupling mechanism 22 and the female coupling mechanism 24 are comprised of hooks and loops fastening material Preferably, the male coupling mechanism 22 comprises two male Velcro strips and the female coupling mechanism 24 comprises two female Velcro strips, although it should be clearly understood that substantial benefit could be derived from an alternative configuration of the hand-worn cleaning cloth 10 in which an alternative coupling mechanism is used, such as buttons, clips or the like, 50 long as the cloth 12 can be secured around a dorsal surface 28 of a hand 26.

[0020] Preferably, the cloth 12 is comprised of a glass cleaning surface, although it should be clearly understood that substantial benefit could be derived from an alternative configuration of the hand-worn cleaning cloth 10 in which an alternative type of cloth surface is used, such as something abrasive for smoothing a hard to reach area, so long as the cloth is secured around the dorsal surface 28 of a hand 26 for use in wiping a hard to reach area.

Claims

1. A hand-worn cleaning cloth comprising:

a cloth having a first end and a second end and a first side and a second side;

wherein said first side comprises a male coupling mechanism proximate said first and and said second side comprises a female coupling mechanism proximate said second end and dimensioned to be coupled to said male coupling mechanism;

wherein said male coupling mechanism and said female coupling mechanism are dimensioned to be coupled proximate a palmer surface of a hand so that said cloth is secured around a dorsal surface of a hand enabling said dorsal surface of a hand to clean a glass surface with said cloth secured about said hand.

2. The hand-worn cleaning cloth of claim 1 wherein said male coupling mechanism and said female coupling mechanism are comprised of a plurality of hooks and loops fastening materials.

3. The hand-worn cleaning cloth of claim 2 wherein said male coupling mechanism comprises two male Velcro strips and said female coupling mechanism comprises two female Velcro strips.

4. The hand-worn cleaning cloth of claim 1 wherein said first side and said second side of said cloth comprise a glass cleaning surface.

5. A method for cleaning glass, comprising, in combination the steps of:

providing a cloth having a first end and a second end and a first side and a second side, said first side comprises a male coupling mechanism proximate said first end and said second side comprises a female coupling mechanism proximate said second end;

coupling said male coupling mechanism to said female coupling mechanism proximate a palmer surface of a hand so that said cloth is secured around a dorsal surface of a hand;

wiping said dorsal surface of said hand with said cloth secured thereabout over a glass surface to clean said glass surface.

6. The method of claim 5 wherein said male coupling mechanism and said female coupling mechanism are comprised of a plurality of hooks and loops fastening materials.

7. The method of claim 6 wherein said male coupling mechanism comprises two male Velcro strips and said female coupling mechanism comprises two female Velcro strips.

8. The method of claim 5 wherein said first side and said second side of said cloth comprise a glass cleaning surface.
