Baseball home plate for guiding pitching

Abstract

A home plate includes a pentagonal body and a plurality of marks are marked on a top surface of the body. The body has a tapered top surface so that the pitcher can see the marks on the top surface clearly. A line is connected to the body and at least one positioning member is connected to the line so as to indicate the position of the pitcher's rubber.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The present invention relates to a baseball home plate and marks are marked on a top surface of the home plate so as to guide the pitcher to pitch.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002] A pitcher is one of the key persons in a baseball game team and a good pitcher pitches balls to desired positions so that the batter is difficult to hit the ball or cannot hit the ball at good direction. The pitcher has to spend a lot of time to practice pitching so as to control the ball to be pitched at the desired height and position relative to the home plate. However, without a referee, the pitcher cannot know the ball that he or she pitches toward the home plate is a strike or ball.

[0003] The present invention intends to provide a home plate that has marks on the top surface of the home plate and the marks illustrate different types of strikes so that the pitcher may pitch the ball by the guidance of the marks.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0004] In accordance with one aspect of the present invention, there is provided a home plate that comprises a pentagonal body and a plurality of marks are marked on a top surface of the body. The marks represent the desired directions that the ball should be pitched.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

[0011] Referring to FIG. 1, the home plate of the present invention comprises a pentagonal body 10 having a plurality of marks marked on a top surface of the body 10. The marks includes three groups of strips 11 which are respectively located at the center and two sides of the body 10 and represent the area of outside strike, inside strike and the central strike. A line 20 is connected to the body 10 and at least one positioning member 21 is connected to the line 20. The positioning member 21 is a ring which can be positioned at the position where the pitcher's rubber is located.

[0012] By the home plate, the pitcher has guidance by which balls are pitched and this allows the pitcher to practice strikes.

[0013] FIG. 2 shows that the strips 11 located at two sides of the body 10 and in a form of triangle. The strip 11 at the center of the body 10 has two curve sides which allows the pitcher to practice curve balls.

[0014] FIG. 3 shows that the marks can be six spots “c” and the dotted lines “d” connected between the spots “c” show the that the ball may travel.

[0015] FIG. 4 shows an adhesive layer 43 is connected to an underside of the body 40 which includes a layer 41 made of sealed material and a releasing paper 44 is connected to the adhesive layer 43. The home plate can be attached to a floor in a gym for example so that the pitcher may practice inside.

[0016] FIG. 5 shows that the body 50 has a tapered top surface which allows the pitcher to see the marks on the top surface from distance.

Claims

1. A home plate comprising:

a pentagonal body having a plurality of marks marked on a top surface of the body.

2. The home plate as claimed in claim 1, wherein the marks are strips.

3. The home plate as claimed in claim 1, wherein the marks are spots.

4. The home plate as claimed in claim 1 wherein the body has a tapered top surface.

5. The home plate as claimed in claim 1 further comprising an adhesive layer connected to an underside of the body and a releasing paper connected to the adhesive layer.

6. The home plate as claimed in claim 1 further comprising a line connected to the body and at least one positioning member is connected to the line.
