Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] 1. Field of the Invention

[0002] The present invention relates to an ice and snow remover, more particularly one, which is equipped with a heating mechanism for melting ice and snow, and temperature sensors and a display for displaying temperatures as sensed by the sensors.

[0003] 2. Brief Description of the Prior Art

[0004] In northern areas, snow accumulation on rooftops during the winter has always been a big problem and causes inconvenience to people. First, the continual accumulation of snow will form big weight on the rooftops of houses and cars, and will even cause house rooftops to collapse. Second, continual accumulation of snow and ice will also make roads difficult for people or cars to negotiate. Various types of snow and ice removers have been developed, and one among them is snow scraper truck, which can be used for scraping off snow on the ground, but can't be used on rooftops of houses and cars.

[0005] To remove ice and snow on rooftops of houses, cars and so on, a relatively small-sized ice and snow remover has been made available in the past, which is equipped with an electric heat generating device so that ice and snow can be melted by means of heat produced by the electric heat generating device, helping the users remove ice and snow.

[0006] However, because such ice and snow remover is not equipped with a temperature sensor, some users tend to touch the remover to try to find out the temperature of the remover while they are using the removers.

[0007] Consequently, they are prone to get burnt if the remover is very hot. And, people can't get more careful not to touch the ice and snow remover because there is not any mechanism for warning them of the high temperature of the remover.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0008] It is a main object of the present invention to provide a heat generating ice and snow remover, which is equipped with temperature sensors and a display for displaying temperatures as sensed by the sensors so that the users can use it more efficiently and safely.

[0009] One temperature sensor is arranged to contact an electric heating device positioned in a covering part for sensing temperature of the electric heating device, thus preventing the user from getting burnt due to touching the remover to try to find out the temperature of the remover when the remover is hot.

[0010] Another temperature sensor can be positioned in the covering part so that when the working temperature inside the covering part is too low, the user can stop using the heating device on ice and snow until the temperature of the heating device rises to such a degree that the present ice and snow remover can be used efficiently.

[0011] The circuit unit further has a connector to be electrically connected to a power source; the connector can take various forms so as to be connectable with batteries, ordinary wall sockets, or a car cigarette lighter; thus, the present remover can be used in many places outdoors, and on a car because it can be connected to a car cigarette lighter.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0012] The present invention will be better understood by reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein:

[0013] FIG. 1 is an exploded perspective view of the ice and snow remover according to the present invention,

[0014] FIG. 2 is a circuit diagram of the ice and snow remover according to the present invention,

[0015] FIG. 3 is a cross-sectional view of the ice and snow remover according to the present invention; and,

[0016] FIG. 4 is a perspective view of the ice and snow remover according to the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

[0017] Referring to FIG. 1, an ice and snow remover of the present invention includes a main body 1, a heating device 2 for melting ice and snow, and a circuit unit 3; the main body 1 includes a covering part 11, a handle 14 extended from a rear end of the covering part 11, a rear cover 18 detachably joined to the handle 14, and a removing block 13.

[0018] The covering part 11 is formed with an observation hole 111 on an upper side while the handle 14 is formed with a displaying through hole 141 on an upper side. A transparent plate 12 is fitted over the observation hole 111, and a protective plate 17 is fitted over the displaying through hole 141. The removing block 13 is fixedly joined to an upper side of a front end of the covering part 11, and has several striking projections 131 for striking ice with, and a scraping plate 132 for scraping off ice and snow with.

[0019] The heating device 2 is fixedly disposed within the covering part 11; the heating device 2 has a front heating part, a fixing board 22 joined to the front heating part and secured to an inner side of the covering part 11, and a fixing cover 21 joined to the fixing board 22.

[0020] The circuit unit 3 includes a temperature sensor 33, a display 34, a switch 32, and a lamp 35 electrically connected together and positioned in a holding space defined by the covering part 11, the handle 14, and the rear cover 18; the display 34 can be a LED display comprised of several light emitting diodes 341 or a monitor (not shown); the switch 32 is provided for controlling power to the lamp 35; according to a first embodiment of the present invention, the temperature sensor 33 is made to contact the heating device 2 for sensing temperature of the same; the display 34 is positioned under the protective plate 17 for displaying temperature of the heating device 2 as sensed by the temperature sensor 33; a control button 15 is disposed under, and connected to, the switch 32 so that a user can move the switch 32 between an on position and an off position with the control button 15. The circuit unit 3 further has a connector 31 to be electrically connected to a power source; the connector 31 can take various forms as to be connectable with batteries, ordinary wall sockets, or a car cigarette lighter.

[0021] A lamp holder 16 is fixedly positioned in the holding space and under the front end of the handle 14, and has a lamp shade 161 fitted to a front end thereof; the lamp 35 is held in the lamp holder 16.

[0022] When the connector 31 is connected to a power, the heating device 2 will generate heat so that the user can melt ice and snow by means of placing the covering part 11 on the ice and snow. The user can also observe the snow and ice being melted by the heating device under the present remover through the transparent plate 12, helping him remove ice and snow. And, the user can control the button 15 for making the lamp 35 provide additional illumination if need be. The user can also strike ice with the striking projections 131, and a scrape off ice and snow with the scraping plate 132 for helping him remove ice and snow.

[0023] According to a second embodiment of the present invention, the temperature sensor 33 is arranged within the covering part 11 instead of contacting the heating device 2 so that it can sense working temperature inside the covering part 11, which is then displayed on the display 34; when the present ice and snow remover is used, and when the working temperature is too low, it is suggested that the user stop using the heating device 2 on ice and snow temporarily until the temperature of the heating device 2 rises to such a degree that the present ice and snow remover can be used efficiently.

[0024] According to a third embodiment of the present invention, an additional temperature sensor (not numbered) is arranged within the covering part 11 and electrically connected to the display 34 while the temperature sensor 33 is arranged to contact the heating device 2 so that both working temperature inside the covering part 11 and that of the heating device 2 can be sensed and displayed.

[0025] From the above description, it can be easily understood that the ice and snow remover of the present invention can be used more efficiently and safely because of the temperature sensor and the display. And, people can get more careful not to touch the ice and snow remover when seeing high temperature readings on the display.
