Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] 1. Field of the Invention

[0002] The present invention relates to a ball member, and more particularly to a ball member for billiard and bocce games.

[0003] 2. Description of the Prior Art

[0004] Typical bocce games comprise ball members that are made of wood materials or the like, for being stricken by the users on grass lands. When the ball members are made of integral wood materials, the ball members of wood materials may be humidified by the humidity on the ground, and may thus be easily broken from the wood veins after use.

[0005] The other typical ball members may be made of wood power materials that are compressed or pressed together to form the ball member by such as molding or hot-pressing processes. However, the ball members of wood materials may also be humidified by the humidity on the ground, and may thus be easily broken after use.

[0006] Typical billiard games comprise ball members that are made of poly resin materials or the like, and that include a smooth outer surface or appearance. However, the poly resin materials are expensive, such that the cost of the billiard ball members are great and may not be reduced.

[0007] The present invention has arisen to mitigate and/or obviate the afore-described disadvantages of the conventional ball members for both billiard games and bocce games.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0008] The primary objective of the present invention is to provide a ball member for billiard and bocce games including an inner material of cheaper material and an outer material that is more expensive than that of the inner material.

[0009] The other objective of the present invention is to provide a ball member for billiard and bocce games including an outer material and an inner material that may be selected from the heavier materials.

[0010] In accordance with one aspect of the invention, there is provided a ball member for billiard and bocce games, the ball member comprising an inner core member made of cheaper materials, and including an outer peripheral portion, and an outer covering member engaged onto the outer peripheral portion of the inner core member, the outer covering member including a smooth outer surface. The inner core member may also be made of the materials that have different weights from that of the outer covering member, for determining or adjusting the ball member to the required weight.

[0011] The outer covering member may be made of or selected from the poly resin materials, the synthetic materials, or metal materials, that may include a resilience and a smooth outer surface or appearance to prevent the ball member from being humidified and broken.

[0012] The inner core member may be made of or selected from the recycled materials, the waste materials, the concrete materials, the metal materials, the wood materials, and/or the plastic materials, that may include a heavier weight and/or a cheaper cost.

[0013] Further objectives and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from a careful reading of the detailed description provided hereinbelow, with appropriate reference to the accompanying drawings.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0014] FIG. 1 is a cross sectional view of a ball member in accordance with the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

[0015] Referring to the drawing FIG. 1, a ball member 1 in accordance with the present invention comprises an inner material 10, such as an inner core member 10, and an outer material 20, such as an outer covering member 20 engaged onto or provided around the inner core member 10.

[0016] The inner core member 10 of the ball member 1 may be selected from or made of heavier or harder materials, such as highly pressurized wood materials, concrete materials, plastic materials, metal materials, etc., in order to increase the weight of the ball member 1.

[0017] In addition, the inner core member 10 of the ball member 1 may be made of cheaper or recycled materials, such as the recycled or waste wood materials, the waste concrete materials, the recycled or waste plastic materials, the recycled or waste metal materials, etc., in order to reduce the manufacturing cost of the ball member 1.

[0018] The outer covering member 20 of the ball member 1 may be selected from or made of lighter or softer or resilient materials, such as poly resin materials or the other synthetic materials, or the like, in order to control or determine the outer resilience of the ball member 1.

[0019] The outer covering member 20 of the ball member 1 may be engaged onto or secured onto the outer peripheral portion of the inner core member 10 of the ball member 1, by such as molding, mold injection processes, hot-pressing processes, etc., for allowing the outer covering member 20 to be easily and quickly engaged onto or secured onto the inner core member 10 by mass production.

[0020] The poly resin materials or the other synthetic materials for making or forming the outer covering member 20 of the ball member 1 may be more expensive than the inner core member 10. However, the poly resin materials or the other synthetic materials may form a smooth outer surface or appearance on the ball member 1, for allowing the ball member 1 to be smoothly moved on the billiard tables.

[0021] In addition, when the ball member 1 for bocce games include an outer covering member 20 made of the poly resin materials or the other synthetic materials and having a smooth outer surface or appearance, and when the ball members are stricken by the users on grass lands, the ball members will not be humidified by the humidity on the ground, and thus will not be easily broken after use, and may thus include a greatly increased working life.

[0022] The outer covering member 20 of the ball member 1 may also be selected from or made of lighter metal materials that may also include a smooth outer surface or appearance.

[0023] Accordingly, the ball member in accordance with the present invention are provided for billiard and bocce games, and includes an inner core material that may be selected from or made of cheaper and/or heavier materials, and an outer covering material that may be selected from or made of lighter or softer or resilient materials, and that may include a smooth outer surface or appearance for allowing the ball member to be smoothly moved on the billiard tables and on the ground.

[0024] Although this invention has been described with a certain degree of particularity, it is to be understood that the present disclosure has been made by way of example only and that numerous changes in the detailed construction and the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.
