Abstract

A bag personalization kit is disclosed that includes a bag and a plurality of adhesive stickers for adhering to the bag. The stickers are mounted to at least one backing sheet which may be coupled to the bag.

BACKGROUND

[0002] Embodiments of the present invention relate to bags and more particularly to kits for permitting the personalized decorating of a bag.

[0003] Users all around the world purchase various kinds of bags, ranging from simple paper bags to nicely designed bags made up of wide ranges of materials, to pack up their gifts for their friends and relatives. However, these bags typically do not provide the user with an ability to easily personalize or tailor the bag to meet their own personal needs or style.

SUMMARY

[0004] A bag personalization kit is disclosed that includes a bag and a plurality of adhesive stickers for adhering to the bag. The stickers are mounted to at least one backing sheet which may be coupled to the bag. With the bag personalization kit, a user may be afforded the ability to customize the bag using the stickers to suit their personal needs and/or style.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0008] FIG. 1 is a schematic representation of a bag personalization kit 10 in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention. In general, the bag personalization kit 10 includes at least one bag 12 and a plurality of adhesive stickers 14 for adhering to the bag 12. The adhesive stickers 14 are mounted to at least one backing sheet 16 which may be coupled to the bag 12.

[0009] In closer detail, the bag personalization kit 10 may include a bag 12 having a bottom, a plurality of sides upwardly extending around the bottom of the bag, and an upper edge 18 defining an upper opening into the bag 12. In one embodiment, the bag 12 may include a first pair of opposite sides and a second pair of opposite sides.

[0010] The bag 12 may comprise a variety of materials including, for example, a flexible plastic (e.g., vinyl) material and/or a paper material. In one embodiment, the bag 12 may be constructed to have dimensions of about 10.5 inches in width, about 6.5 inches in depth, and about 13 inches in height. 1

[0011] The bag 12 may have a pair of handles for carrying the bag. In one embodiment, each of the sides of first pair of opposite sides of the bag 12 may have one of the handles. In one embodiment, the handles may each comprise a cutout 20 through the associated side of the first pair of opposite sides of the bag. In such an embodiment, the cutouts 20 may each have a generally oblong periphery. As another option, the handles may each comprise an elongated flexible filament 22 that has a pair of opposite ends coupled to the associated side of the first pair of opposite sides of the bag, the handles each being a generally U-shaped (see e.g., FIG. 3).

[0012] In one embodiment, each side of the second pair of opposite sides of the bag 12 may have a longitudinal fold or pleat 24 extending between the bottom and upper edge 18 of the bag for aiding the collapsing of the bag 12 into a more compact shape.

[0013] In one aspect of the present invention, at least one side of the bag 12 may have a decorative design thereon. In some exemplary embodiments, the decorative design may comprise floral design (see floral designs 26, 28, 30, and 32), a star design 34, and/or a cake design 36. The floral designs may also include a graphic representation of a bee 38 and/or the sun 40. In embodiments of the present invention, the decorative design may include the words “Happy Birthday” 42 displayed thereon. As an option with the cake design 36, a graphical representation of a candle 44 may also be included.

[0014] FIG. 2 is a schematic representation of a set of adhesive stickers 14 of a bag personalization kit 10 in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention. In particular, the bag personalization kit 10 includes a plurality of adhesive stickers 14 for adhering to the at least one side of the bag 12 such as the side of the bag having the decorative design thereon. As illustrated in FIG. 2, the plurality of stickers 14 may be removably adhered on to at least one backing sheet 16 for displaying the stickers 14.

[0015] A protective cover 46 may be mounted to at least a portion of the backing sheet (s) 16 such that a portion of stickers 14 adhered to at the backing sheet(s) 16 is visible as depicted in FIG. 2. In one embodiment, the protective cover 46 may be coupled to the bag 12 to thereby couple the backing sheet(s) 16 and stickers 14 to the bag 12. As an option, the protective cover 46 may have a top portion 48 with a trapezoidal hole 50 therethrough. In such an embodiment, an elongated element 52 may be extended through the hole 50 of the protective cover and looped through at least one of the handles of the bag 12 to couple the protective cover 46 and stickers 14 to the bag 12 (see FIG. 3).

[0016] As illustrated in FIG. 2, in an exemplary embodiment, the plurality of stickers 14 may comprise a plurality of alphanumeric stickers each shaped or decorated to represent either a letter or a number. The plurality of stickers each have an adhesive face removably and adhesively coupled to the backing sheet. The adhesive back face of each sticker has an adhesive thereon for adhesively coupling the sticker to bag such as the at least one side of the bag having the decorative design. The stickers may each have a decorative outer face. In an illustrative embodiment, the decorative outer face of each sticker 14 may comprise a reflective material, a colored material, a glitter material, and/or a holographic material so that a holographic image may be seen when observing the sticker 14.

[0017] FIG. 3 is a schematic representation depicting the a method of use for personalizing a bag 12 with stickers 14 using a bag personalization kit 10 in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention. As illustrated in FIG. 3, the stickers 14 may be initially mounted to the backing sheet(s) 16 which, in turn, may be coupled to the bag 12 (see 1). As illustrative at 2, the protective cover 46 may be detached from the bag 12 by removing the elongated element 52, for example. Next, a portion of the stickers 14 may be removed from their associated backing sheet 16 (see 3) and adhered to the bag 12 (see 4 and 5) to personalize the bag to the user's taste. As illustrated in FIG. 3, the stickers 14 may be adhered to the side of the bag 12 having the decorative design, however, it should be understood that the stickers may be adhered to any portion of the bag that a user so desires. As illustrated at 6, the alphanumeric stickers 14 may be adhered to the bag 12 so that the stickers are arranged on the bag to form or spell out at least one word such for example a person's name (e.g., John)

[0018] With embodiments of the bag personalization kit 10 set forth herein, a user may be afforded the ability to create personalized bags that may be used for a variety of purposes including use a gift bags. In one embodiment, the bag personalization kit 10 may include a plurality of bags 12 of various dimensions, styles, colors and designs. In one embodiment, the bag(s) 12 and stickers 14 included in a kit 10 may coordinated to match each other. For example, the stickers 14 may be designed in a font, color and/or size to suit (i.e., coordinate with) the style, color and/or the bag(s) 12. In one embodiment, the choice of bag(s) 12 and stickers 14 to include in the bag personalization kit 10 may be made by a user at a point of sale from a selection of various styles of bags and/or adhesive stickers displayed at the point of sale. This way, a user may be able to customize the contents of the bag personalization kit 10 to suit their own individual needs and style.

[0019] While various embodiments have been described above, it should be understood that they have been presented by way of example only, and not limitation. Thus, the breadth and scope of a preferred embodiment should not be limited by any of the above described exemplary embodiments, but should be defined only in accordance with the following claims and their equivalents.

Claims

1. A bag personalization kit, comprising:

a bag;

a plurality of adhesive stickers for adhering to the bag;

the stickers being mounted to at least one backing sheet; and

the backing sheet being coupled to the bag.

2. The bag personalization kit of claim 1, the bag has a pair of handles.

3. The bag personalization kit of claim 2, wherein the handles each comprises a cutout through the bag.

4. The bag personalization kit of claim 1, wherein the bag has a decorative design thereon.

5. The bag personalization kit of claim 4, wherein the decorative design comprises at least one of a floral design, a star design, and a cake design.

6. The bag personalization kit of claim 5, wherein the floral design includes at least one of a graphic representation of a bee, and a graphical representation of a sun.

7. The bag personalization kit of claim 4, wherein the decorative design includes the words “Happy Birthday” displayed thereon.

8. The bag personalization kit of claim 1, wherein an elongated element couples the at least one backing sheet to the bag.

9. The bag personalization kit of claim 1, wherein the plurality of stickers comprise a plurality of alphanumeric stickers.

10. The bag personalization kit of claim 1, wherein the stickers each have a decorative outer face, the decorative outer face of each sticker comprising at least one of a reflective material, a colored material, a glitter material, and a holographic material.

11. A bag personalization kit, comprising:

a bag having a bottom, a plurality of sides upwardly extending around the bottom of the bag, and an upper edge defining an upper opening into the bag;

the bag comprising at least one of a flexible plastic material, and a paper material;

the plurality of sides of the bag comprising a first pair of opposite sides and a second pair of opposite sides;

the bag having a pair of handles, each of the sides of first pair of opposite sides of the bag having one of the handles;

the handles each comprising a cutout through the associated side of the first pair of opposite sides of the bag, the cutouts each having a generally oblong periphery;

each side of the second pair of opposite sides having a longitudinal fold extending between the bottom and upper edge of the bag;

at least one side of the bag having a decorative design thereon; the decorative design comprising at least one of a floral design, a star design, and a cake design;

the floral design including at least one of a graphic representation of a bee, and a graphical representation of a sun;

the decorative design including the words “Happy Birthday” displayed thereon;

the cake including a graphical representation of a candle;

a plurality of adhesive stickers for adhering to the at least one side of the bag having the decorative design thereon;

the plurality of stickers being removably adhered on to at least one backing sheet;

a protective cover being mounted to at least a portion of the at least one backing sheet such that a portion of stickers adhered to at least one of the backing sheets is visible;

the protective cover being coupled to the bag;

the protective cover having a top portion having a trapezoidal hole therethrough;

an elongated element extending through the hole of the protective cover and looped through at least one of the handles of the bag to couple the protective cover and thereby the stickers to the bag;

the plurality of stickers comprising a plurality of alphanumeric stickers each being shaped to represent either a letter or a number;

the plurality of stickers each having an adhesive face removably adhesively coupled to the backing sheet, the adhesive face of each sticker having an adhesive thereon for adhesively coupling the sticker to bag; and

the stickers each having a decorative outer face, the decorative outer face of each sticker comprising at least one of a reflective material, a colored material, a glitter material, and a holographic material.
