One Piece Sandal with a flat die cut sheet of thin resilient material having a foot shaped portion and including an integral left wing extension and a right wing extension, and a hook type fastener strip fixedly adhered to the top side of the the left wing extension and a loop type fastener strip fixedly adhered at a ninety degree angle to the hook fastener on the bottom surface of the right wing extension. A preferred embodiment includes the flat die cut sheet is made of eighth inch thick mini cell foam plastic.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0004] This invention relates generally to the field of sandals and more specifically to a one piece sandal.

[0005] Sandals for wearing on one's feet are well known. Sandals have been made of a variety of materials including leather, wood, fabric and plastic.

[0006] Sandals usually include a relatively flat sole portion that protects the underside of the user's foot and a method of holding the flat sole portion onto the foot such as straps that cross over the top of the user's foot, and in some cases a heel retaining portion. Although many sandal designs have proven successful in their intended use, they do not tend to be inexpensive enough and pack small enough to be a give away type item that could be dispensed at a beach front hotel or swimming area or the like.

[0007] Additionally, most other sandals can not be easily adjusted to fit a variety of sizes of feet. Finally, most other sandals do not contain broad flat surfaces that easily lend themselves to printing of designs, logo's, advertising or the like.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0008] The primary object of the invention is to provide a sandal that is inexpensive to manufacture and is constructed of one piece of resilient sheet material.

[0009] Another object of the invention is to provide a sandal that can be easily adjusted to fit a variety of foot sizes.

[0010] Another object of the invention is to provide a sandal that can be rolled up for storage and packaging.

[0011] A further object of the invention is to provide a sandal that can be printed with decorative designs or advertising materials or the like.

[0012] Other objects and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the following descriptions, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, wherein, by way of illustration and example, an embodiment of the present invention is disclosed.

[0013] In accordance with a preferred embodiment of the invention, there is disclosed a one piece sandal comprising: a flat die cut sheet of thin resilient material having an oblong foot shaped portion and including an integral left wing extension and a right wing extension, and a hook type fastener strip fixedly adhered to the top side of the said left wing extension and a loop type fastener strip fixedly adhered at a ninety degree angle to said hook fastener on the bottom surface of said right wing extension.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

[0021] Detailed descriptions of the preferred embodiment are provided herein. It is to be understood, however, that the present invention may be embodied in various forms. Therefore, specific details disclosed herein are not to be interpreted as limiting, but rather as a basis for the claims and as a representative basis for teaching one skilled in the art to employ the present invention in virtually any appropriately detailed system, structure or manner.

[0022] Referring now to FIG. 1 we see a plan view of the sandal of the present invention 100. The one piece design is comprised of a foot shaped sole portion 2 and an integral left wing 6 and right wing 4. a strip of hook type fastener is fixidly attached to wing 6. The one piece sandal 100 can be made of a resilient sheet material such as one eighth of an inch thick mini cell foam plastic. Other materials may be used such as perforated rubber, urethane elastomer or the like. An ideal material will have good abrasion resistance and good flexibility with minimal cold set so that the sheet 100 can be rolled up and placed in a tubular packing container 20 with lid 22 as shown in FIG. 7. FIG. 2 shows a bottom plan view of the present invention 100. In this view loop type fastener 10 can be seen affixed to the underside of wing 4. FIG. 3 shows a person preparing to wear the present invention 100. His foot 12 is placed on sole portion 2. FIG. 4 shows the user in the process of placing wings 4, 6 in position on the top surface of the user's foot 12. There is a ninety degree relationship between hook faster strip 8 and loop fastener strip 10 so that the wing 6 can be folded over the user's foot 12 and the fasteners 8, 10 will mate with each other regardless of the user's foot size. FIG. 5 shows the user's foot 12 in the use mode with regard to sandal 100. The sandal 100 is meant to be a temporary solution to foot protection. The sandal 100 can be used when a more traditional sandal is not available for example in a health spa. Because of the flat nature of the sandal 100 construction, a design, logo 24 or advertisement can be printed on any portion of the sandal 100. FIG. 6 shows a side view of a person's foot 12 while the sandal 100 is in place. the sheet material is flexible yet stiff enough so that when the user lifts his foot 12, the sole portion 2 remains in alignment with the sole of the user's foot.

[0023] The above descriptions and illustrations show that the present sandal invention is novel and meets the needs of a temporary sandal. It can be manufactured inexpensively, can fit a variety of sizes of feet, can be printed on and can roll up for compact storage and shipping.

[0024] While the invention has been described in connection with a preferred embodiment, it is not intended to limit the scope of the invention to the particular form set forth, but on the contrary, it is intended to cover such alternatives, modifications, and equivalents as may be included within the spirit and scope of the invention as defined by the appended claims.

Claims

1. One Piece Sandal comprising:

a flat die cut sheet of thin resilient material having a foot shaped portion and including an integral left wing extension and a right wing extension; and
a hook type fastener strip fixedly adhered to the top side of the said left wing extension and a loop type fastener strip fixedly adhered at a ninety degree angle to said hook fastener on the bottom surface of said right wing extension.

2. One Piece Sandal as claimed in claim 1 wherein said flat die cut sheet is made of eighth inch thick mini cell foam plastic.

3. One Piece Sandal as claimed in claim 1 wherein said die cut sheet is printed with decorative designs or advertising materials or the like.

4. One Piece Sandal as claimed in claim 1 wherein a left and right set of said one piece sandals can be rolled up and inserted into a tube shaped package for compact shipping and storage.
