Description

[0001] The invention relates to a device for finishing the edges of floors, preferably reinforced concrete floors, of buildings and possibly for supporting facades.

[0002] Currently, for the purpose of finishing the edges of reinforced concrete floors, the reinforced concrete floor is extended or widened as a single piece in the form of a thin overhang. The facade is mounted on this extension or widening section, which extends across the entire corresponding area of the reinforced concrete floor. Facing elements or covering elements are mounted on and a portion of the building-related mechanical and utility services are provided above and below this extension or widening section. The provision of such an extension or widening section in a single-piece design with the reinforced concrete floor results in a considerable formwork effort, which leads to an increased cost and requires more construction time. The assembly of the facing, covering and facade components is also complex. Moreover, only a portion of the building-related mechanical and utility installations can be accommodated.

[0003] It is the object of the invention to create a device for finishing the edges of floors, especially reinforced concrete floors, of buildings of the kind described above, which can be provided in a fast and inexpensive fashion and is essentially able to accommodate all conventional building-related installations.

[0004] To attain this object, the device for finishing the edges of floors, preferably of reinforced concrete floors, of buildings of the kind mentioned above is provided with the features disclosed in claim 1.

[0005] By utilizing an embodiment of the present invention, the complicated and complex formwork associated with forming a reinforced concrete like finishing edge is avoided, and a support frame, which is easily mounted after producing the prestressed concrete or reinforced concrete floor, is created instead. The building-related mechanical and utility installations can be easily accommodated within the support frame. Depending on the embodiment corresponding to the features of claims 2 and/or 3, the support frame may be composed of cantilevers mounted side-by-side and one after the other on the reinforced concrete floor or affixed as a complete prefabricated unit on the reinforced concrete floor so that the complete support frame of a building edge is delivered preassembled to the construction site. The embodiment comprising individual cantilevers, either individually or in a combination, produces a weight reduction. The support frame is preferably made of steel or aluminum.

[0006] Preferred embodiments include, in particular, adjustable mounting parts for attaching the support frame to the building floor or to a facade provided on the support frame having the features recited in one or more of the claims 4 through 7.

[0007] Depending on how the building-related mechanical and utility installations of claim 9 are accommodated, the support frame of claim 8 is equipped with corresponding facing and/or covering elements. The building-related mechanical and utility installations may include, for example, cable conduits, underfloor convectors, antiglare fixtures, sprinkler systems and the like, wherein the support frame may be provided with a correspondingly perforated sheet metal covering or top air grille and otherwise perforated or non-perforated cover plates.

[0008] Pursuant to claim 10, the support frame or the individual cantilevers preferably exhibit an approximately channel-like configuration in cross section, wherein this also includes cross sections in which the bottom side leg is not arranged in a horizontal configuration, but is inclined with respect to the horizontal plane of the building floor.

[0009] Further details of the invention are disclosed in the following description, in which the invention is described and explained in more detail based on the exemplary embodiment illustrated in the drawing.

[0010] The single FIGURE shows a partially broken off schematic representation in vertical section through a building at the outer edge area of a building floor.

[0011] In the building 10 depicted in the drawing, a prestressed or reinforced concrete floor 11 is represented seen from the edge, which rests on a column 12 arranged below the floor 11 and supports a column 12′ that extends upwardly from the floor to support other structures. Although only one column is illustrated, it will be appreciated that typically a number of columns will be utilized and will be arranged across the floor and separated by various longitudinal and/or transverse sections or distances. The building 10 is surrounded or covered by a facade 13 supported at a distance outward from the longitudinal edge 14 of the building floor 11.

[0012] An edge finishing 16 of the building floor 11 is provided through a support frame 17, which both accommodates building-related mechanical and/or utility installations, such as installations 31-34, and provides a mounting connection between the facade 13 and the building floor. The support frame 17 may be made of stainless steel, aluminum or a similar material and may be composed of several cantilevers 18, which are arranged periodically along the edge 14 of the building floor 11. The support frame 17 or the cantilevers 18 are fixed or mounted on the building floor 11, specifically on the face edge 14 as well as also on the adjacent surface area 15 of the building floor 11.

[0013] The cantilever 18 has an approximately channel-like configuration seen from the side and comprises an inner leg 21 adjacent the building floor 11, an outer leg 22, which is adjustably mounted on the facade 13, and a bottom side connecting leg 23. In the illustrated embodiment, the inner leg 21 is longer than the outer leg 22, while these legs are arranged approximately at the same upper edge height, so that the connecting leg 23 is inclined with respect to the plane of the building floor 11. Instead of this trapezoidal channel-like cross-section or lateral view of the support frame 17, the cantilever 18 can also be arranged to provide approximately U-shaped channel shape.

[0014] The cantilever 18 rests with the lower area of its inner leg 21 attached to the face edge 14 of the building floor 11 via a first adjustable mounting device 26. As illustrated, a mounting leg 24, arranged along a middle portion of the inner leg 21, may extend horizontally over an upper surface 15 of the building floor 11 and be attached to the building floor via a second adjustable mount 27. The inside leg 21 and the connecting leg 23 are firmly connected to the building floor 11 in a fashion that is not shown in detail, wherein the alignment of the cantilever 18 can be adjusted or varied via the two mounts 26 and 27. The mounting leg 24 can also be held with a triangular connecting metal sheet 28.

[0015] The support frame 17, which consists of several cantilevers 18 arranged in a generally parallel and spaced arrangement, can be prefabricated in a workshop in accordance with the length of the affected edge of the building floor 11 by connecting several cantilevers 18 (not shown). In this way, the support frame 17 can be mounted as a prefabricated unit directly on the building floor 11. It is also possible to affix the cantilevers 18 individually to the building floor 11 and subsequently connect the cantilevers 18 to form the support frame 17.

[0016] The support frame 17 may be configured to accommodate most, if not all, conventional building-related mechanical and utility installations or equipment, such as the cable conduit 31, underfloor blowers or convectors 32, antiglare lighting fixtures 33, sprinkler systems 34 and the like. The bottom of the support frame 17 or of the cantilevers 18 is formed by a facing metal sheet 36, which is mounted on the bottom of the connecting legs 23 of the cantilevers 18. The facing metal sheet 36 can also extend into a lower surface area 19 of the building floor 11. The top of the support frame 17 or of the cantilevers 18 may support, for example, air grills or vents 37 that provide outlets for the underfloor convectors 32, and coverings 38 for shielding and/or concealing the antiglare light fixtures 33 and sprinkler system 34. As illustrated, the cantilever 18 includes additional reinforcement or support elements 29 and 30.

[0017] It is understood that the support frame 17, which provides for the attachment of the facade 13 to the building floor 11 on the one hand, and accommodates the building-related mechanical and utility installations 31 through 34 on the other hand, can also incorporate a corresponding fire protection lining, as well as heat protection and sound insulation materials.
