TRIPLE P TURNBAR

The Triple P Turnbar (Turnbar) is manufactured of 11 gauge steel sheet stock bent to specified dimensions and mounted to the turnaround pan to help prevent or eliminate improper bowling pin orientation to the cross conveyor for all Brunswick A and A-2 Automatic Pinsetters. The difference between the Tumbar and previous turnaround pan cam designs is the Tumbar has vertical and horizontal designs to contact and “turn” the bowling pin to result in base first delivery to the cross conveyor. Previous turnaround pan cam designs did not guarantee the contact between the bowling pin and turnaround pan cam would result in base first delivery to the cross conveyor.

BACKGROUND OF INVENTION

The field of endeavor to which this invention pertains is the mechanical operation of the Brunswick Automatic Pinsetter. THE TRIPLE P TURNBAR greatly improves the operational reliability of the Brunswick Corporation's Model A and Model A-2 pinsetters as it pertains to the turnaround pan performance for the delivery of pins in their proper base first orientation to the cross conveyor. The turnaround pan is a concave steel pan mounted between the top of the pin elevator and the rear of the cross conveyor on Brunswick's Model A and A-2 pinsetters (paraphrased as pinsetters going forward). As the pins drop out of the pin elevator into the turnaround pan, the turnaround pan receives them either head first or base first before they are picked up by the cross conveyor. Physically attached to the turnaround pan is a turn pan cam manufactured by the Brunswick Corporation. A second turn pan cam is also manufactured by Quality Bowling Corporation. The above two turn pam cams are designed to assist in base first orientation of the bowling pin as it is delivered from the pin wheel to the cross conveyor.

Our invention is designed to greatly reduce the number of stops endured by the bowler due to malfunctions of the pinsetter. A stop is defined as anytime the bowler can not bowl. One of the more frequent stops encountered by the bowler is due to errrouneous orientation of the pin to the cross conveyor. The design of the exisiting turn pan cams are not adequate to prevent occurences which lead to pinsetter stops due to errounous orientation of the pin to the cross conveyor. The existing turn pan cams do not prevent head first orientation of the pin to the cross conveyor thus resulting a pinsetter stop. Proper orinetation of the pin to the cross conveyor is base first.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

THE TRIPLE P TURNBAR will prevent errrounous orientation of the pin to the cross conveyor on all Brunsiwick Pinsetters. The design of THE TRIPLE P TURNBAR will eliminate head first pin orientation to the cross conveyor thus preventing stops due to turn pan jams and greatly improving the reliablity and performance of the pinsetter.

FIG. A depicts the length and width of the THE TRIPLE P TURNBAR in inches after manufacturing.

FIG. B1 denotes the left and right location and degree of bends in the Tumbar.

FIG. B2 identifies the left lateral bend to the side (rear) mounting hole.

FIG. C is the flat layout identifying the location of the two mounting holes and complete dimensions of the Tumbar prior to manufacturing. Thickness of the material is 11 gauge and width of the material is 1 inch.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

THE TRIPLE P TURNBAR is a manufactured part consisting of 11 gauge steel sheet stock cut to the dimensions depicted in figure C of Drawing I. The final process of manufacture of the finished product includes zinc coating to the sheet stock to prevent rust deterioration of THE TRIPLE P TURNBAR. The TRIPLE P TURNBAR will also be manufactured in a material called Lexon and formed to the dimensions depicted in Drawing I. The part will eventually be manufactured in nylon in the future.

This part is a direct replacement for the old turn pan cams manufactured by Brunswick and Quality Bowling Corporations. The old turn pan cams fail to correctly orientate the pins base first to the cross conveyor on a consistent basis resulting in pinsetter stops. The design of the THE TRIPLE P TURNBAR greatly reduces or eliminates the occurrence of improper orientation of the pins to the cross conveyor improving the performance and reliability of the pinsetter.

THE TRIPLE P TURNBAR is designed to fasten to the turnpan of the pinsetter in the same manner as the old turn pan cams using the same rear mounting hole in the turn pam. Due to the design, installation of the THE TRIPLE P TURNBAR requires no additional training is required. An additional support bracket and mounting hole have been incorporated into the design and manufacture of THE TRIPLE P TURNBAR. This additional support is provided as an optional choice of the installer and would require an additional mounting hole to be drilled into the existing turnpan. The support bracket and mounting hole is provided and is recommended to be utilized to ensure long term reliability of performance.

Claims

1. The THE TRIPLE P TURNBAR, due to its design, greatly reduces or eliminates the occurrence of improper pin orientation to the cross conveyor on Brunswick Model A and Model A-2 Automatic Pinsetters.
