Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to a garbage can capable of holding a garbage bag in position, more particularly one, which can keep a garbage bag in position that is contained therein, and can prevent the garbage bag from being exposed outside it to spoil the appearance thereof.

2. Brief Description of the Prior Art

Garbage cans are used for holding garbage therein, and are to be emptied out when they are nearly full.

Referring to FIG. 4, a conventional garbage can includes an outer container 5, and a lid 6 pivoted to the upper end of the outer container 5. An inner container 7 is positioned in the outer container 5 such that waste can be thrown therein. When the inner container 7 is full, it is removed from the outer container 5, and emptied out.

It becomes common practice for people to position a garbage bag 8 inside the inner container 7, and fold an upper edge 81 of the bag 8 outwardly of the outer container 5 such that the bag 8 is held in position with the upper edge 81 thereof being exposed outside the outer container 5 and enclosing the upper end of the same. Thus, waste can be thrown into the garbage bag 8, and the waste is discarded together with the bag 8 when the bag 8 becomes full.

However, the following disadvantages will be found when the garbage bag 8 is held in position in the above way:

1. The garbage bag 8 is likely to fall out of position when there is external force exerted on it because the upper edge 81 of the bag 8 is folded to enclose the upper end of the outer container 5 without being secured by any means.

2. The upper edge of the garbage bag 8 is exposed outside the outer container 5, and the look of the whole garbage can is spoiled.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

It is a main object of the present invention to provide garbage can to overcome the above disadvantages.

The garbage can of the present invention includes a containing barrel, and an elastic securing ring. The containing barrel has an upper opening, and an annular groove on an inner side of an upper end. A garbage bag is held in the containing barrel while the elastic securing ring is removably fitted onto the annular groove of the containing barrel for pressing an upper edge of the garbage bag against the groove such that the garbage bag is kept wide open and held in position, and such that the garbage bag can't be exposed outside the barrel to spoil the look of the garbage can.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

The present invention will be better understood by referring to the accompanying drawings, wherein:

FIG. 1 is an exploded perspective view of the garbage can according to the present invention,

FIG. 2 is a vertical section of the garbage can according to the present invention,

FIG. 3 is a partial vertical section of the garbage can according to the present invention,

FIG. 4 is a horizontal section of the garbage can according to the present invention, and

FIG. 5 is a vertical section of the conventional garbage can.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

Referring to FIGS. 1 to 3, a preferred embodiment of a garbage can in the present invention includes a containing barrel 1, a lid 2, and a securing ring 3.

The containing barrel 1 has an opening at an upper end, and the lid 2 is pivoted to the upper end of the containing barrel 1 for covering the barrel 1 with. And, a garbage bag 4 is positioned in the barrel 1 for allowing waste to be held therein. The containing barrel 1 is formed with an annular groove 12 on an inner side near the upper end thereof. The securing ring 3 is elastic, and can be closely fitted on the annular groove 12 of the containing barrel 1 such that the upper edge of the garbage bag 4 is tightly sandwiched between the ring 3 and the containing barrel 1. Consequently, the garbage bag 4 is kept open and secured in position.

In addition, the elastic securing ring 3 has two opposing bent portions 31, between which a space is provided; thus, a person can make the elastic securing ring 3 smaller by means of pressing the opposing bent portions 31 for the same to move closer to each other with the fingers, and in turns, the elastic securing ring 3 can be easily fitted onto, and removed from the annular groove 12. After the securing ring 3 is positioned within the annular groove 12 with a reduced size, and after the bent portions 31 are released, the securing ring 3 will regain shape and fit onto the annular groove 12 automatically owing to the elasticity thereof.

In using the garbage can, first the lid 2 is opened, and the garbage bag 4 is positioned in the barrel 1. Then, the securing ring 3 is positioned within an upper end portion of the garbage bag 4 to keep the same wide open, and is fitted onto the annular groove 12 of the barrel 1 with the help of the bent portions 31; thus, the bag 4 is tightly sandwiched between the ring 3 and the barrel 1 at the upper end portion thereof, and in turns, the bag 4 is held in position. In case the upper end portion of the garbage bag 4 has an excessive portion 41 projecting upwards from the elastic securing ring 3 after the garbage bag 4 has been held in position with the securing ring 3, the excessive portion 41 is folded inwardly of the containing barrel 1 to be close to the securing ring 3.

From the above description, it can be easily understood that the garbage can in the present invention has advantages as followings:

1. The elastic securing ring 3 can be easily fitted onto the annular groove 12 of the barrel 1 after having been reduced and then released. And, the garbage bag 4 will be held in position with the help of the elastic securing ring 3 and the annular groove 12.

2. The excessive portion 41 of the upper end portion of the garbage bag 4 can be folded inwardly of the barrel 1 to be close to the securing ring 3 after the elastic securing ring 3 has been fitted onto the annular groove 12 to hold the bag 4 in position. Therefore, there won't be any portion of the bag 4 exposed outside the barrel 1 to spoil the look of the whole garbage can.

3. The garbage can is more economical to use because there is no need for an outer container such as is used with the conventional can.

Claims

1. A garbage can capable of holding a garbage bag in position, comprising

a containing barrel for holding a garbage bag therein; the containing barrel having an upper opening, and an annular groove on an inner side of an upper end thereof; and
an elastic securing ring removably fitted onto the annular groove of the containing barrel for pressing an upper edge of the garbage bag against the groove such that the garbage bag is kept wide open and held in position.

2. The garbage can as claimed in claim 1, wherein the elastic securing ring has two opposing and spaced apart bent portions such that a person can reduce the ring by means of pressing the bent portions for same to move close to each other with fingers.
