Description
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION

1. Field of Invention

The present invention relates to a toolbox and, more particularly, to a toolbox that can be hung.

2. Related Prior Art

In Taiwanese Patent Publication no. 566303, a conventional toolbox 1 includes a shell 2 and a holder 3 formed together with the box 2. On the shell 2 is formed a clip 22 so that the toolbox 1 can be hung a user's belt. The shell 2 defines an opening 200. The holder 3 is shaped based on the opening 200 so that the holder 3 is put in the opening 200 as the toolbox 1 is closed. The holder 3 defines spaces 300 and 301 for receiving a tool 4. The holder 3 defines spaces 310 and 311 for receiving bits 5. However, the holder 3 can only hold a few bits 5 since the number of the spaces 310 and 311 is limited. Moreover, the holder 3 can only hold a few types of bits since the spaces 310 and 311 are shaped according to the bits 5. Not in use, the tool 4 and bits 5 are partially exposed and can easily get dirty. In use, the toolbox 1 is opened so that the tool 4 and the bits 5 are exposed and can easily fall from the holder 3.

The present invention is therefore intended to obviate or at least alleviate the problems encountered in prior art.

SUMMARY OF INVENTION

According to the present invention, a toolbox includes a box and a hanging device. The box is connected with the hanging device so that the box can simultaneously be pivoted and slid between a vertical position and a horizontal position where the box can be opened so that objects can easily and securely be put into and taken from the box.

The primary advantage of the toolbox of the present invention is that it can contain many tools and bits. A second advantage is that it can contain various types of tools and bits. A third advantage is that it can protect the tools and bits from bad weather and contaminates. A fourth advantage is that it can support the tools and bits well.

Other advantages and novel features of the invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description in conjunction with the attached drawings.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS

The present invention will be described through detailed illustration of the preferred embodiment referring to the drawings.

FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a toolbox according to the preferred embodiment of the present invention.

FIG. 2 is an exploded view of the toolbox shown in FIG. 1.

FIG. 3 is a cross-sectional view of the toolbox shown in FIG. 1.

FIG. 4 is similar to FIG. 3 but shows the toolbox in a different position.

FIG. 5 is a view of a user carrying the toolbox shown in FIG. 1.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

Referring to FIGS. 1 and 2, according to the preferred embodiment of the present invention, a toolbox 10 includes a box 20 and a hanging device 30 with which the box 20 is pivotally connected between a vertical position and a horizontal position.

The box 20 includes a first shell 21 and a second shell 22 pivotally connected with the first shell 21. The box 20 defines a space 23 for receiving tools and other objects. The first shell 21 includes a wall and a bottom formed together with the wall. The wall of the first shell 21 defines two slots 212 facing each other. An aperture 213 is defined in the bottom of the first shell 21.

The hanging device 30 includes two pivots 31 formed on an edge, a clip 32 formed on a side and two hooks 33 formed on an opposite side. The pivots 31 are put and can slide in the slots 212.

Referring to FIG. 3, the toolbox 1 is in the vertical position. The hooks 33 are put in the aperture 213 and hook the bottom of the first shell 21 in order to keep the toolbox 1 in the vertical position. Each pivot 31 is put in an end of a related slot 212.

Referring to FIG. 4, the bottom of the first shell 21 is released from the hooks 33. The toolbox 1 is moved to the horizontal position from the vertical position. Each pivot 31 is moved to an opposite end of a related slot 212. The wall of the first shell 21 abuts the hanging device 30 in order to keep the toolbox 1 in the horizontal position.

Referring to FIG. 5, by means of the hanging device 30, the toolbox 1 is hung on a belt worn by a user. The first shell 21 is in the horizontal position. The box 20 is opened, i.e., the second shell 22 is pivoted from the first shell 21. Various tools 50 can be taken from and put into the space 23. The tools 50 are well supported by means of the first shell 21.

Compared with the conventional toolbox discussed in Related Prior Art, the toolbox of the present invention is advantagepis. Firstly, it can contain many tools and bits. Secondly, it can contain various types of tools and bits. Thirdly, it can protect the tools and bits from bad weather and contaminates. Fourthly, it can adequately support the tools and bits.

The present invention has been described through detailed illustration of the preferred embodiment. Those skilled in the art can derive variations from the preferred embodiment without departing from the scope of the present invention defined in the claims.

Claims

1. A toolbox comprising a box and a hanging device connected with the box so that the box can simultaneously be pivoted and slid between a vertical position and a horizontal position where the box can be opened so that objects can easily and securely be put into and taken from the box.

2. The toolbox according to claim 1 wherein the box comprising a first shell and a second shell pivotally connected with the first shell.

3. The toolbox according to claim 2 wherein the first shell defines two slots, wherein the hanging device comprises two pivots put movably in the slots, wherein when the first shell is pivoted to the horizontal position from the vertical position, each of the pivots slides from an end to an opposite end of related one of the slots so that the first shell abuts the hanging device in order to keep the first shell in the horizontal position.

4. The toolbox according to claim 2 wherein the first shell defines an aperture, wherein the hanging device comprises two hooks for insertion in the aperture defined in the first shell in order to keep the first shell in the vertical position.

5. The toolbox according to claim 1 wherein the hanging device comprises a clip formed thereon.
