Far infrared pillow

This is a type of body support cervical vertebrae pillow, including pillowcase and pillow, and has the following features: the pillowcase as mentioned is in barrel shape, and the pillow inside is made of far infrared material. The barrel-shaped pillowcase as mentioned is made of net material, and there is a band oillet on each edge of the openings by its two ends, and there is an opening lock band through the oillet. The far infrared material as mentioned is of tube type rubber segments that contain far infrared ceramic powder. This utility model may be put beneath the cervical vertebrae while in sleep, in a vehicle, in an airplane or during a break while working, and it will effectively improve blood circulation at the cervical vertebrae and relax the muscles through the action of far infrared emitted from the pillow, so as to fulfill the purpose of relief, prevention, and supplementary treatment of cervical spondylosis.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. The Field of the Invention

The utility model involves a type of body support cervical vertebrae pillow made of far infrared material, which may be put beneath the cervical vertebrae while in sleep, in a vehicle, in an airplane or during a break while working, and it will effectively improve blood circulation at the cervical vertebrae and relax the muscles through the action of far infrared emitted from the pillow, to fulfill the purpose of relief, prevention and supplementary treatment of cervical spondylosis.

2. State of the Art

When people are sleeping, traveling for a long time in a vehicle, airplane, etc., or working for a long time at a desk, the cervical vertebrae can suffer injury, strain, or stress. There is also the possibility that a person may suffer from aggravate cervical spondylosis. Therefore, it becomes desirable and even necessary to have a device that is able to prevent and cure cervical spondylosis under the conditions as mentioned above. However, there is no such device at the moment.

When traveling for long periods, a person can suffer from neck strain or stress from having to support the head for long periods of time. In addition, the added stress of travel can tighten and injury muscles located in cervical vertebrae region. In many instances, an individual may have to sleep during travel where a bed is either not available or not offered, such as on an airplane. In addition, if an individual must work for long hours at a desk, the discomfort of using a computer, etc. can cause stress and strain to the cervical vertebrae region. Therefore, it is desirable to have a device that allows an individual to prevent stress, strain, and injury of the cervical vertebrae.

Under the circumstances described above, an individual could use a pillow to support the cervical vertebrae, however the pillow would only support the cervical vertebrae. It is desirable to have a pillow that not only supports the cervical vertebrae, but also treats stress, strain and cervical spondylosis (or arthritis of the neck). Thus, it is desirable to have not only a pillow, but a pillow that incorporates treatment regiments.

Far infrared emitting materials have the potential to treat cervical vertebrae stress, strain, injury and cervical spondylosis. Far infrared materials emit a spectrum of light that emanates from the sun that is not visible to the eye, but can be felt penetrating the skin. The material is similar to infrared heat lamps that may be used in bathrooms or spas, however the far infrared rays penetrate deeper into the skin. Far infrared emitting materials are known to heal the skin, improve blood circulation, and improve skin cell revitalization. Therefore, the far infrared materials would be beneficial in treating symptoms associated with the cervical vertebrae. Such far infrared materials can be cloth or ceramic discs which are impregnated with gem and mineral powders that emit far infrared rays.

There are products that incorporate far infrared emitting materials, however these products are not portable. An example of such a product is a sauna, which is meant to be stored in the home and is not portable. Therefore, although far infrared emitting materials would be useful in treating stress, strain, and injury to the cervical vertebrae, it is desirable to have the materials incorporated into a device that can be easily transported and used at the office or while traveling.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

It is an object of the present invention to provide a device to support the cervical vertebrae to prevent stress, strain, or injury.

It is another object of the present invention to treat stress, strain, or injury of the cervical vertebrae.

It is another object of the present invention to incorporate far infrared emitting materials into a device that supports the cervical vertebrae and also treats stress, strain, or injury of the cervical vertebrae.

It is a further object of the present invention to provide a far infrared pillow that is easily transported during travel.

It is a further object of the present invention to provide a far infrared pillow that is compactly stored in luggage, at the office, or in the home.

It is a further object of the present invention to have the pillow shaped to maximize support and treatment of the cervical vertebrae.

It will be appreciated that not all embodiments made in accordance with the invention will contain all aspects of the invention as noted above. Rather, various embodiments of the invention will contain different advantages thereof.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

The above and other objects, features and advantages of the invention will become apparent from a consideration of the following detailed description presented in connection with the accompanying drawings in which:

FIG. 1 shows a far infrared pillow that is barrel shaped and includes a pillowcase with an oillet for easy removal and cleaning; and

FIG. 2 shows a far infrared pillow that is barrel shaped and includes a pillowcase with a zipper for easy removal and cleaning.

It will be appreciated that the drawings are illustrative and not limiting of the scope of the invention which is defined by the appended claims. The drawings show a pillow that is barrel-shaped, however many sizes and shapes of the pillow can be used to accomplish the objectives of the invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Reference will now be made to the drawings in which the various elements of the present invention will be given numeral designations and in which the invention will be discussed so as to enable one skilled in the art to make and use the invention. It is to be understood that the following description is only exemplary of the principles of the present invention, and should not be viewed as narrowing the pending claims.

Referring to FIG. 1, shown generally at 10 is a far infrared pillow that is generally barrel shaped. This pillow can be placed under the cervical vertebrae to support the neck and head while traveling, sleeping, working at a desk, or while relaxing. The pillow 10 comprises a pillowcase shown at 12, and a barrel shaped inner compartment 14 which contains the far infrared emitting material 16. The pillowcase 12 can be made from any material, and can comprise any design, texture, or pattern. As shown in FIG. 1, the pillowcase 12 has two openings 18 at both ends to allow for removal of the pillowcase 12 from the inner compartment for easy removal and cleaning. The openings 18 can be reduced in diameter by pulling the strings 20, thereby securing the pillowcase 12 to the inner compartment 14. It will be appreciated that the openings 18 and the strings 20 can be located on only one end of the pillow, instead of at each end.

The inner compartment 14 can also be made from any material and can incorporate any design, texture, or pattern. The inner compartment is filled with far infrared containing material 16, which can be of varying size, geometry, and density. The far infrared material 16 does not have to be uniform in size, geometry, density, or composition. The far infrared material, as mentioned, is tube-type rubber segments that contain far infrared ceramic powder. The far infrared material would need to be heated to release the far infrared rays.

FIG. 2 is similar to FIG. 1 and shows a far infrared pillow 30 where the pillowcase 32 comprises a zipper 34 to secure the pillowcase 32 to the inner compartment 36, which is filled with far infrared emitting material 38. It should be appreciated that numerous methods of securing the pillowcase to the inner compartment can be used.

Thus is described a far infrared pillow. Those skilled in the art will appreciate that numerous modifications can be made to the embodiments of the invention discussed above and that the embodiments discussed above are only meant to teach one of ordinary skill in the art how to use the invention and not to limit the claims. The appended claims are intended to cover such modifications.

4. A far infrared pillow comprising:

an inner compartment;
far infrared material that is contained within the inner compartment; and
a pillowcase that is securely held to the inner compartment.

5. The far infrared pillow of claim 4 where the pillowcase comprises a zipper.

6. The far infrared pillow of claim 4 where the pillowcase comprises an oillet.

7. The far infrared pillow of claim 6 where there is a lock band through the oillet.

8. The far infrared pillow of claim 4 where the far infrared material comprises rubber segments filled with far infrared ceramic powder.

9. The far infrared pillow of claim 4 where the inner compartment is barrel shaped.

10. The far infrared pillow of claim 4 where the inner compartment is horseshoe shaped.

11. The far infrared pillow of claim 4 where the inner compartment is disk shaped.

12. The far infrared pillow of claim 4 where the inner compartment is shaped like a snake.
