Heatproof mitten

A heatproof mitten is essentially a bag and has an outer surface, an inner surface, an open end, a closed end, multiple nubs, multiple slots, multiple top ribs and multiple bottom ribs. The closed end has a finger end and a thumb end that allow a person's four fingers and a thumb to slide into the heatproof mitten. The nubs protrude from the outer surface at the closed end and reduce the surface area of the heatproof mitten in contact with a hot dish. The slots are formed in the outer surface of the bag between the closed end and the open end to make the heatproof mitten more flexible around a person's wrist. The ribs are formed longitudinally on the inner surface of the bag to form an air gap between a person's hand and the inner surface to make putting on and taking off the heatproof mitten easier.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to a heatproof mitten, and more particularly to a heatproof mitten that can keep a person's hand from being burned by hot dish, pot or the like.

2. Description of Related Art

Heatproof mittens are normally using in the kitchen to help a person take a hot dish out of the oven or take a hot dish to the diner table.

A conventional heatproof mitten is essentially a bag. The bag has a closed end and an open end. The closed end of the bag has a finger end and a thumb end. The conventional heatproof mitten is made of rubber so that the mitten must be very thick.

A person puts his or her hand into the heatproof mitten from the open end. The person's fingers and thumb slide respectively into the finger end and the thumb end. The person can use the finger end and the thumb end to hold a hot dish and transfer the hot dish from one location to another. The bag can protect the person's hand and keep the person's hand from being burned by the hot dish.

However, the rubber is a soft material, and a person's hand easily sticks to the rubber when the person puts on the rubber heatproof mitten, especially when the person's hand is sweaty as is often the case in a hot kitchen. The person's band in contact with the inside of the rubber heatproof mitten will sweat more. The sweat causes the heatproof mitten to stick to the skin of the person's hand and makes putting on or taking off the heatproof mitten difficult. Furthermore, an adequate thickness of the heatproof mitten to adequately insulate a person's hand makes bending the person's wrist difficult.

To overcome the shortcomings, the present invention provides a heatproof mitten to obviate or mitigate the aforementioned problems.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The primary objective of the present invention is to provide a heatproof mitten to hold a hot dish that will not cause a person's hand to sweat as much and is more flexible.

The heatproof mitten is essentially a bag. The bag has an outer surface, inner surface, an open end, a closed end, multiple nubs, multiple slots, multiple top ribs and multiple bottom ribs. The closed end has a finger end and a thumb end that allow a person's four fingers and a thumb to slide respectively into the finger end and the thumb end. The nubs protrude from the outer surface at the closed end toward each other. The nubs reduce the surface area of the heatproof mitten in contact with a hot dish and form an air gap between the outer surface of the heatproof mitten and a hot dish. The slots are formed in the outer surface of the bag between the closed end and the open end to make the heatproof mitten more flexible around a person's wrist. The top ribs and bottom ribs are formed longitudinally on the inner surface of the bag to form an air gap between a person's hand and the inner surface to make putting on and taking off the heatproof mitten easier. Furthermore, the air gaps inside and outside the heatproof mitten allow the bag to be thinner and more flexible while providing an equivalent insulating capability.

Other objectives, advantages and novel features of the invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

FIG. 3 is an operational perspective view of the heatproof mittens in FIG. 1 holding a hot dish.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

With reference to FIGS. 1 and 2, a heatproof mitten in accordance with the present invention is a bag (10). The bag (10) has an open end (11), a closed end, a palm area, an outer surface, an inner surface, multiple nubs (17), multiple slots (14), a hanging hole (12), multiple top ribs (18), multiple bottom ribs (13). The closed end has a finger end (16) and a thumb end (15). The palm area is between the finger end (16) and the thumb end (15). The nubs (17) extend out of the outer surface of the bag (10) in the palm area, the finger end (16) and the thumb end (15). The slots (14) are formed in the outer surface of the bag (10) between the closed end and the open end (11). The hanging hole (12) is formed though the bag (10) near the open end (11) of the bag (10). The top ribs (18) and the bottom ribs (13) are formed longitudinally on and protrude from the inner surface of the bag (10).

With reference to FIG. 3, a person puts the heatproof mitten on by inserting his or her hand into the open end (11) of the bag (10). The user's four fingers and the thumb are inserted respectively into the finger end (16) and the thumb end (15). The top ribs (18) and the bottom ribs (13) form an air gap between the inner surface of the bag (10) and a person's hand. The inner surface of the bag (10) will not stick to the person's hand. Sweat from a person's hand will not influence a person from putting on or taking off the heatproof mitten.

The slots (14) make bending a person's wrist easier so that the person is able to adjust his/her hand to the best position to hold a hot dish (20).

Because the nubs (17) are very small, the area in contact with the hot dish (20) is decreased. Therefore, less heat is transferred from the hot dish (20) to the bag (10).

In conclusion, the flexibility and insulation of the heatproof mitten are improved by the slots (14), the nubs (17) and the ribs (13, 18).

Even though numerous characteristics and advantages of the present invention have been set forth in the foregoing description together with details of the structure and function of the invention, the disclosure is illustrative only. Changes may be made in detail especially in matters of shape, size, and arrangement of parts within the principles of the invention to the full extent indicated by the broad general meaning of the terms in which the appended claims are expressed.

Claims

1. A heatproof mitten comprising

a bag having an open end; and a closed end having a finger end; and a thumb end; a palm area between the finger end and the thumb end; an outer surface; an inner surface; multiple nubs extending out of the outer surface of the bag in the palm area, the finger end and the thumb end; multiple slots formed in the outer surface of the bag between the open end and the close end of the bag; multiple top ribs formed longitudinally on and protruding from the inner surface of the bag to define multiple air gaps in the bag; and multiple bottom ribs formed longitudinally on and protruding from the inner surface of the bag to define multiple air gaps in the bag.

2. The heatproof mitten as claimed in claim 1, wherein the bag has a hanging hole formed through the bag near the open end of the bag.
