Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to a breaking resistive bat structure, and more particularly to a bat structure in which a reinforcing rib is provided to avoid the bat from breaking.

2. Description of the Prior Art

A bat of good quality normally is made of wood of high quality. However, due to the rising cost of wood material, costs of bats of good quality rise accordingly, and if bats are made of wood of inferior quality, the chance of breaking while bating increases.

A bat 2 in FIG. 3 normally breaks due to the impact of the moment when it hits a ball. The hitting impact will make vibration of the bat 2 to cause it slightly bend for the bat 2 has a length (such as is shown with a dotted imaging line in FIG. 3). The force that the bat 2 suffered exceeds the force that the bat 2 can bear, so that a holding portion 11 of the bat 2 that is the slimmest area of the bat 2 will break. Certainly, the factors that can decide the amplitude of vibration or frequency of the bat are variant, such as the structure of the bat 2 itself, its ability for force bearing, and even the holding position that the batter holds on the bat, the force bearing point that the bat and the ball contact with each other, the ball speed and the speed and direction that the bat is swung etc.

If the force bearing point bears huge force with further adding the above possible disadvantageous factors, the bat 2 will break. The breaking areas can possibly be the holding portion 11 or a gradual slimmer area 14 between the holding portion 11 and a hitting portion 13 of the bat 2.

In order that a bat can have both its cost and quality put in consideration, there have been many improved structures of bats developed, such as is shown if FIG. 3, for example, the holding portion 11 of the bat 2 and a part of the gradual slimmer area 14 are wrapped with reinforced fibers 12 to distribute the force born by the hitting portion 13 to all the wrapped areas (including the holding portion 11 of the bat 2 and a part of the gradual slimmer area 14). However, to produce this kind of bat, the procedure is time consuming, and the wrapping material may become loose because of long time using.

The present invention provides a new breaking resistive bat structure. The structure similarly can distribute the force born to other areas of the bat to reduce the frequency of bat breaking.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The primary objective of present invention is to provide a breaking resistive bat structure, the structure is provided therein with a reinforcing rib to increase the strength of the ability for bearing force.

To achieve the above state objective, the bat of the present invention comprises a holding portion, a hitting portion and a gradual slimmer area connecting between the holding portion and the hitting portion. The gradual slimmer area and the holding portion are provided with an elongate receiving space. The reinforcing rib is received in the elongate receiving space to increase the strength of the gradual slimmer area and the holding portion of the bat and to avoid the bat from breaking.

The present invention will be further apprehended after reading the detailed description of the preferred embodiment thereof in reference to the accompanying drawings.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 is an anatomic sectional view showing the elements of an embodiment of the present invention;

FIG. 2 is a sectional view showing the assembled elements of the embodiment of the present invention;

FIG. 3 is a front view of a conventional bat, wherein the dotted imaging line depicts the bending state of the bat in bearing a force; and

FIG. 4 is a front view of the conventional bat showing a gradual slimmer area and a holding portion of the bat are wrapped with reinforced fibers.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

Referring firstly to FIGS. 1 and 2, a bat 1 of the present invention is mainly made of laminated bamboo, laminated bamboo and wood or laminated wood, it comprises a holding portion 20, a hitting portion 40 and a gradual slimmer area 30 connecting between the holding portion 20 and the hitting portion 40; wherein a reinforcing rib 42 is provided in the holding portion 20 and the gradual slimmer area 30 to increase the strength of the most apt to breaking portion of the bat 1.

The holding portion 20 has on its bottom a protruding knob 21 which is like a round disc in order to prevent the bat 1 from sliding out of the holding hand of a batter by stopping of the protruding knob 21.

The gradual slimmer area 30 and the holding portion 20 are commonly provided therein with an elongate receiving space 41 to increase the strength of the gradual slimmer area 30 and the holding portion 20 of the bat 1.

Wherein the reinforcing rib 42 is made of metal (such as aluminum alloy) or non-metal (such as hard plastic, carbon fiber or glass fiber etc.); the material can be solid or hollow material, or hollow material added therein with fillers; variation of the material does not depart from the spirit of the present invention.

And the length of the reinforcing rib 42 is ½-⅘ of the length of the bat itself.

In practicing, the material of laminated bamboo, laminated bamboo and wood or laminated wood etc. is together pressed and mixed in wood slices or bamboo slices during the manufacturing process in order that the reinforcing rib 42 is combined therein the wood slices or bamboo slices. Surely, the reinforcing rib 42 can also be combined with the wood slices or bamboo slices in some other mode, for instance: an elongate hole can be provided on the bottom of the bat, and then the reinforcing rib 42 can be squeezed and combined in the elongate hole which is afterwards sealed (not shown).

Therefore the present invention has the following advantages:

  • 1. When the bat hits a ball, it bears huge force that induces bending of the holding portion or the gradual slimmer area of the bat and the reinforcing rib can increase the strength of the holding portion or the gradual slimmer area to reduce the chance of breaking.
  • 2. The reinforcing rib is combined in the material of bamboo or laminated bamboo and wood. The problem of loosening or dropping of reinforced fibers will not happen as is the case of the conventional bat.

In conclusion, according to the description disclosed above, the present invention surely can achieve the expected objective, thereof to provide a breaking resistive bat structure; by the detail specification above, it will be apparent to those skilled in this art that various modifications or changes can be completed without departing from the spirit of this invention.

The embodiment stated above is only for illustrating the present invention, the equivalent modifications or changes according to the teaching of and without departing from the spirit of this invention shall also fall within the scope of the appended claims.
