Head assembly of putter

A head assembly of a putter includes an extending member extending rearward opposite to a face of a head of the putter and having various shapes, and a replaceable weight mounted to the lower side of the extending member by a bolt and having multiple grades in weight. Since a golfer can freely select the disc weight, the golfer can freely choose a putter having an optimal weight suitable for the golfer's physique, putting style, and weight, and can adjust weight of the head assembly of the putter thereby enhancing the golfer's ability to play golf.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to a head assembly of putters, and more particularly, to a golf club, especially, to an improvement of a golf club having a structure suitable for the putters.

2. Description of the Related Art

Golf is often referred to as a “mind game”, and a golfer's psychological state is very important in the game of golf. Since golfer's personality influences the golf game, the golfer feels difficulty to accustom to skill for playing golf. In particular, since a novice hastily selects and uses golf clubs and becomes accustomed to an undesirable golf stance, the undesirable stance cannot be easily corrected.

The golfer cannot easily select a golf club having a head with a configuration and weight suited to the golfer from among general golf clubs, and the golfer may feel the need to change the weight of a head assembly of a putter as the golfer's skill increases and according to circumstance.

In this case, since all the golf clubs must be replaced, the golfer must invest a sufficient time to accustom themselves with the new golf clubs and costs for buying the new golf clubs are imposed.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Therefore, the present invention has been made in view of the above problems, and it is an object of the present invention to provide a golf club, especially a head assembly of a putter, in which weight of a head of the putter is selectively chosen so as to increase impact of the putter when swinging the putter to impact a golf ball, and mobility of the head, closely related to straight swing due to the increase of the weight of the head, is minimized.

In other words, the object of the present invention is to provide a head assembly of a putter for allowing the golfer to select and use a suitable optimal head assembly.

In accordance with the present invention, the above and other objects can be accomplished by the provision of a head assembly of a putter including an extending member extending rearward opposite to a face of a head of the putter and having various shapes, and a replaceable weight mounted to the lower side of the extending member by a bolt and having multiple grades in weight.

Preferably, the weight comprises a disc weight having multiple grades in weight.

In accordance with the present invention, the above and other objects can be accomplished by the provision of a head assembly of a putter including a mounting space as a depressed space formed in the lower side of a head of a golf club, especially, the putter, and a plurality of replaceable weights fixed to a bottom surface of the mounting space by a bolt and having grades in weight.

In accordance with the present invention, the above and other objects can be accomplished by the provision of a head assembly of a putter including a hollow spherical accommodator provided to a central portion of a body of a head of a golf club, especially, opposite to a face of the head, having a shape such as a part of a golf ball or a solid sphere, and providing prominence of the putter, and a plurality of replaceable weights fixed to a bottom surface of the hollow spherical accommodator by a bolt and having grades in weight.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

Hereinafter, the structure and operation of a putter assembly according to the preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.

Although a head assembly of a putter according to the preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described by various examples applied to putters having specific configurations, it is understood that the head assembly of a putter according to the preferred embodiments of the present invention can be applied to all putters regardless of configuration, shape, kind, manufacturer, and to different kinds of golf clubs, i.e. drivers, fairway woods, irons, or the like.

FIGS. 1 to 5b illustrate the head assemblies of a putter according to the preferred embodiments of the present invention applied to variously configured and shaped putters.

A putter P1, to which the head assembly according to the preferred embodiments of the present invention is applied, is made of a solid plate or a hollow plate extending from the central portion of an upper surface 10 of a head H1, to which a shaft S is installed, to the rear side of the upper surface 10 of the head H1, and is preferably integrally formed with a guide plate 20 having an integrated gaze guide 21 formed on the plate and having various shapes. However, the head assembly according to the preferred embodiments of the present invention can be applied to the putter P1 as shown in the drawings and to any putter regardless of kind and shape.

The guide plate 20 includes the gaze guide 21 having a guide line 22, as shown in the drawings, formed in the upper surface of the gaze guide 21, such that a golfer gazes when impacting a golf ball (not shown) with the putter. However, the gaze guide 21 is not always provided to the putter P1 of the present invention.

A bolthole 23 is formed at the rear lower side P of the guide plate 20 integrally formed with the head H1. The bolthole 23 is not a penetrating hole, but is a closed bolthole starting from the lower side of the guide plate 20 and ending at the intermediate portion in the thickness direction of the guide plate 20.

Metal disc weights, which are determined by experimentation, have various weights, and have various shapes, i.e. disc weights 30, 30′, and 30″, as shown in the drawings, are integrally formed with fixing shafts 31, 31′, and 31″, respectively, and the fixing shafts 31, 31′, and 31″ respectively have threads 32, 32′, and 32″ formed in the end portions and inserted into the bolt hole 23.

The disc weights 30, 30′, and 30″ are made to have various weights and are applied to the putter and the head assembly of the present invention, such that the golfer can freely replace the disc weights 30, 30′ and 30″ by means of the bolthole 23 and the threads 32, 32′, and 32″.

Needless to say, the fixing shafts 31, 31′, and 31″ may be permanently fixed to the lower side of the guide plate 20, threads may be formed in the ends of the fixing shafts 31, 31′, and 31″, boltholes may be formed in the disc weights 30, 30′, and 30″.

FIGS. 4a and 4b illustrate a head assembly of a second preferred embodiment of the present invention applied to a putter P2 having different configuration.

The putter P2 includes a gaze guide plate 50 in which a gaze guideline 51 is formed to guide the golfer's gaze in a direction opposite to a face F of a head H2 of the putter P2, a mounting room E depressed in a lower side LW opposite to the gaze guide 50, and a steel disc weight 60 fixed in the mounting room E, and having a fixing shaft 61 made of a metal rod, a spring, an elastic rod, or the like, and standing and fixed at the center of the mounting room E.

Several disc weights 60 having various weights are provided, and the disc weight 60 is fixed to a bottom surface E1 of the mounting room E of the guide plate 50 such that threads formed at the ends of the fixing shaft 61 is screwed into a bolt hole (not shown) formed in the bottom surface E1, as in the first preferred embodiment as described above.

FIGS. 5a and 5b illustrate a head assembly according to a third preferred embodiment of the present invention applied to a putter P3 having a different shape and configuration.

The putter P3 of the third preferred embodiment includes a spherical accommodator 90, provided at the center of a body B opposite to the face F of a head H3 of the putter P3 and helping the golfer's gaze.

The spherical accommodator 90 is a hollow member, which is integrally formed with the head H or is separately formed and attached to the putter P3. The spherical accommodator 90 is a hollow member having a shape such as a part of a golf ball or a solid sphere having an opened space therein and an opened lower side OP to form an accommodating space RS.

The spherical accommodator 90 allows to adjust weight of the putter P3 of the present invention, is similar to the golf ball, and increases prominence of the putter P3 so that the golfer putter the golf ball straightly.

In the accommodating space RS of the spherical accommodator 90, a fixing rod 91 is uprightly fixed to extend downward. The fixing rod 91 has threads 91′, formed at the end thereof and is easily fastened with bolt holes 92′ of disc weights having different weights to adjust the weight of the putter P3.

As described above, according to the head assembly of a putter in accordance with the present invention, since a golfer can freely replace the disc weights manufactured to have different weights, the golfer can freely choose a putter having an optimal weight suitable for the golfer's physique, putting style, and weight, and can adjust the weight of the head assembly of the putter thereby enhancing the golfer's ability to play golf.

Although the preferred embodiments of the present invention have been disclosed for illustrative purposes, those skilled in the art will appreciate that various modifications, additions and substitutions are possible, without departing from the scope and spirit of the invention as disclosed in the accompanying claims.

Claims

1. A head assembly of a putter comprising:

an extending member extending rearward opposite to a face of a head of the putter and having various shapes; and
a replaceable weight mounted to the lower side of the extending member by a bolt and having multiple grades in weight.

2. The head assembly of a putter as set forth in claim 1, wherein the weight comprises a disc weight having multiple grades in weight.

3. A head assembly of a putter comprising:

a mounting space as a depressed space formed in the lower side of a head of a golf club, especially, the putter; and
a plurality of replaceable weights fixed to a bottom surface of the mounting space by a bolt and having grades in weight.

4. The head assembly of a putter as set forth in claim 3, wherein the weights comprise disc weights having multiple grades in weight.

5. A head assembly of a putter comprising:

a hollow spherical accommodator provided to a central portion of a body of a head of a golf club, especially, opposite to a face of the head, having a shape such as a part of a golf ball or a solid sphere, and providing prominence of the putter; and
a plurality of replaceable weights fixed to a bottom surface of the hollow spherical accommodator by a bolt and having grades in weight.

6. The head assembly of a putter as set forth in claim 5, wherein the weights comprise disc weights having multiple grades in weight.
