Jewelry pendant ring

A jewelry piece, which includes a setting of at least two pear-shaped precious stones, placed adjacent to each other resembling a heart shape. The heart shaped setting is defined within a metallic frame having a convex front and a curved back. Two top pins and a bottom pin positioned on the front of the metallic frame secure the heart shaped setting. The jewelry piece is further decorated with more jewels paved on metallic frame along the periphery of the heart shaped setting. The metallic frame could also be made with a flat front and a flat back. And a setting pin assembly could be used to secure the heart shaped setting in place. The setting pin assembly may include three strips joined at a center point and running equally outwards in three different directions.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The invention relates to jewelry, and more particularly to heart shaped pendant in which the pendant is made up of stones resembling a heart shape and decorated by precious stones around the heart.

DESCRIPTION OF THE RELATED ART

There are various types of heart shaped pendants in the prior art. They are formed either by placing: a single gemstone in a heart-shaped frame or an array of diamonds in a window formed by two heart-shaped frame members. The prior art, however, does not allow for the placing a heart shaped gem setting surrounded by different stones or diamonds for decoration.

There are certain drawbacks in forming a heart shaped precious stone and mounting in accordance with the prior art. Such as the considerable amount of time and money needed to cut a raw stone into a heart shape because the stone cutting process is very difficult and labor intensive. It also may cause damage to expensive stones if not done properly.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The object of the present invention is to provide a heart shaped jewelry piece, incorporating two pear-shaped precious stones, set next to each other to resemble a heart shape. The heart shaped setting is again placed on a heart shaped metal frame consisting of supporting top and bottom pins and further may be decorated with jewels along the perimeter of heart shaped setting.

The metallic setting frame may have a flat front face and flat back face. In another embodiment, the faces may be convex and/or curved.

Yet in another embodiment, a setting pin assembly may support the heart shaped setting. This setting pin assembly consists of three strips joined at a center and running outwards equally in three different directions. On every strip pins are mounted to hold the heart shaped setting in place. The setting pins can be elliptical, circular, curved or a combination of these shapes depending on the user's preference.

In yet another embodiment, the heart shaped setting is fixed in a conical setting frame by press fitting without the use of pins.

Yet another object of the invention is to provide a simple and entirely new method for producing heart-shaped pendants and/or rings.

Yet another objective of the invention is to provide a mounting for the heart setting, of top and a bottom pin assembly, which could be used in ring as well as pendant.

The present invention has recognized the need and proposed designs in which the pendant or the ring will resemble a heart shape by using two smaller pear shaped discrete stones. Precious stones surrounding the heart shape again decorate it.

Other features of the present invention and the advantages will become apparent from the following description that refers to the accompanying drawings.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

The first embodiment of a jewelry pendant according to the present invention will be described herein below with reference to the drawings. FIG. 3 shows the first embodiment of present invention and is a front view of the jewelry pendant ring. FIG. 4 is the rear elevation view thereof.

The first embodiment of jewelry pendant ring comprises a lustrous and endearing heart shaped frame 8 crafted in precious metal like gold, silver or platinum with a curved back 7 and convex front 9. Accented with top pins 1, 2 and a large bottom pin 3 is a heart shaped setting 4, which comprises two pear shaped precious stones generally indicated by 5, placed adjacent to each other to form an aesthetically pleasing heart shape. Jewels generally indicated at 6 are paved along the perimeter of the heart shaped setting 4. A pendant loop 10 made up of precious metal adorned with jewels 6 is attached to the frame 8. A chain 11 is passed through the loop 10 in orders to suspend the pendant over a wearer's chest. The metal frame 8 is approximately 18 to 26 mm in length and 18 to 22 mm in width, made up of 14 K yellow/white gold, silver or platinum with each jewel being ¾karat but larger or smaller jewels may be used.

FIG. 5 is a left side elevation and FIG.6 is the right side elevation of the pendant with setting frame 8 with a curved back 7 and a convex front 9. The setting pins 1, 2 and 3 that have been grooved at the top of convex front 9 to secure the heart shaped setting 4 at its rounded edges. The top pins 1, 2 are smooth and rounded whereas the bottom pin 3 is smooth and curved.

The FIG. 1 and FIG. 2 are the top plan view and bottom plan view of the pendant respectively showing the heart shaped setting 4 held properly with the top pins 1, 2 and bottom pin 3. This same embodiment design can be used in a ring by securely mounting the heart shaped metal setting frame 8 on a suitable ring.

FIG. 9 shows front view of another embodiment of the pendant with a different supporting arrangement, which consists of a heart shaped setting 12, top setting pins 13, 14, bottom setting pin 15, setting pin assembly 16 and loop 21. The FIG. 10 is a rear view showing setting pin assembly 16 holding the heart shaped setting 12. The setting pin assembly 16 is having three strips generally indicated at 17, 18, 19, which start from the center 20 with increasing cross sections from center to their ends. The three strips 17, 18, 19 meet at a common center 20 and run equally outwards in three different directions. The shape of the setting pin assembly is evident from FIG. 11 and FIG. 12, which are the side views. The pins 13, 14 and 15 have been mounted on the top at the ends of the strips 13, 14, 15. The top strips 17, 18 are of similar shape whereas the bottom strip 19 is smaller in its length, all three setting pins 13, 14, 15 being curved in shape, a loop 21 is attached to the setting pin assembly 16.

The top pins 13, 14 and the bottom pin 15 are of curved shape to secure the pear shaped stones of the heart shaped setting 12. In this design a setting pin assembly 16 is used instead of the metal frame 8 of the previous embodiment. The setting pin assembly 16 and the loop are made of precious metals like 14 K yellow /white gold, silver or platinum. The length of pendant is approximately 18 to 26 mm and width is around 18 to 22 mm. This design can be used as a ring by properly securing the setting pin assembly on a metal ring.

FIG. 15 shows yet another embodiment wherein the heart shaped setting 17 is held by bezels of a highly polished conical metal setting frame generally indicated at 18, made of precious metal like gold, silver or platinum. The continuous metal wall of the conical setting frame 18 stands higher than the girdle of the pear shaped stones 17a of the heart shaped setting 17. The metal wall of the conical setting frame 18 is grooved and the pear shaped gemstones 17a pushed down into the groove. The metal is then pushed onto the heart shaped setting 17 to hold it in place.

The FIG. 16 is the back view of the pendant. Referring to FIG. 17 and FIG. 18, a loop 19 is attached to the conical frame 18, which is made of the same material as that of the conical frame 18.

FIG. 13 is the top plan view and FIG. 14 is the bottom plan view of the pendant where the loop 19 attached to the conical setting frame 18 can be seen. The length of the pendant is approximately 18 to 26 mm with a width of about 18 to 24 mm. The pendant could be used in a ring by fixing the conical setting frame 18 on the metal ring.

Referring to the FIG. 21 in yet another embodiment a setting pin assembly 25 secures the heart shaped setting 20. Accented with top pins 21, 22 and a large bottom pin 23 is a heart shaped setting 20, which comprises two pear shaped precious stones generally indicated at 21, placed adjacent to each other to form an aesthetically pleasing heart shape. FIG. 22 is the back view of the pendant. The setting pin assembly 25 consists of three strips 26, 27, 28 projecting outwards from center 28 towards the ends of the strips 26, 27, 28 forming a shape as shown in the left side view FIG. 23 and right side view FIG. 23. The three strips 26, 27, 28 start from a common center 28 and run equally outwards in three different directions. The top pins 22, 23 that have been grooved on the top strips 26, 27 and bottom pin 24 on the bottom strip 28, secure the heart shaped setting 20. The top pins 22, 23 are smooth and rounded whereas the bottom pin 23 is smooth and curved in its shape. The top strips 26, 27 of the setting pin assembly 25 are of uniform cross section and the bottom strip 28 of increasing cross section run from the center 29 to the their ends. The top strips 26, 27 are of same length, with bottom strip 28 of lesser length than the top strips 26, 27. The setting pin assembly 25 along with the pins 22, 23, 24 is made of 14 K white/yellow gold, silver or platinum. The setting pin assembly 25 length is around 18 to 26 mm and width around 18-24 mm. A loop 30 is firmly secured to the setting pin assembly 25 and made of same metal as that of the setting pin assembly.

FIG. 19 is the top view of the pendant and FIG. 20 is the bottom view of the pendant. The pendant could be used in a ring by fixing the setting pin assembly 25 on a metal ring.

Referring to the FIG. 27 in yet another embodiment a setting pin assembly 28 secures the heart shaped setting 20. Accented with top pins 31, 32 and a bottom pin 33 is a heart shaped setting 34, which comprises two pear shaped precious stones generally indicated at 35, placed adjacent to each other to resemble a heart shape. Referring to the FIG. 28, which is the back view of the pendant, the setting pin assembly 40 includes three strips 36, 37, 38 projecting outwards from center 28 towards the ends of the respective strips 36, 37, 38. The three strips 36, 37, 38 start from a common center 28 and run equally outwards in three different directions. The setting pin assembly 40 forms a shape as shown in the left side view FIG. 29 and right side view FIG. 30. The top pins 31, 32 that have been grooved on the top strips 36, 37 and bottom pin 33 on the bottom strip 38, secure the heart shaped setting 34. The top pins 31, 32 are elliptical and smooth whereas the bottom pin 33 is smooth and curved in its shape. The top strips 36, 37 and the bottom strip 38, with increasing cross sections from center to their ends and same length. The top strips 36, 37 are of same length where as bottom strip 38 of lesser length compared to the top strip. The setting pin assembly 40 along with the pins 31, 32, 33 is made of 14 K white/yellow gold, silver or platinum, with 18 to 26 mm across length and 18 to 24 mm width. A loop 41 is firmly secured to the setting pin assembly 40 and made of same metal as that of the setting pin assembly 40.

FIG. 25 is the top plan view of the pendant and FIG. 26 is the bottom plan view of the pendant. The setting assembly 40 with elliptical top pins 31,32 and curved bottom pin 33 on its strips 33, 34, 35 give a breathtaking appearance to the heart shaped setting 32. The pendant is approximately 18 to 26 mm in length and 18 to 24 mm in width. The pendant could be used in a ring by fixing the setting pin assembly 40 on a metal ring.

In yet another embodiment, FIG. 33 in the front view of the pendant shows a heart shaped setting frame 47 crafted in precious metal like gold, silver or platinum with a flat front 48 and a flat back 49. A heart shaped setting 42 has been fitted in the setting frame 47 along with jewels generally indicated at 46, paved along the periphery of the heart shaped setting. The heart shaped setting 42 comprises two pear-shaped precious stones generally indicated by 43, placed adjacent to each other form an aesthetically pleasing heart shape. A pendant loop 44 made up of precious metal and adorned with jewels generally indicated at 45 is fixed with the setting frame 47.

The flat front and flat back of the pendant is evident from the left side and right side view in the FIG. 35 and FIG. 36 respectively. The FIG. 31 and FIG. 32 is the top and bottom plan view of the pendant respectively. The metal of the setting frame 47 is approximately 18 to 26 mms in length and 18 to 22 mm in width, made up of 14 K yellow/white gold, silver or platinum with each jewel in the loop and the setting frame being ¾karat but larger or smaller jewels may be used. The pendant sparkles with brilliance and sophistication in the jewels generally indicated at 45 and 46.

Although the preferred embodiments of the invention have been disclosed for illustrative purpose, those skilled in the art will appreciate that various modifications, additions are possible, without departing from the scope of the inventions as disclosed in the accompanying claims.

Claims

1. A piece of jewelry comprising:

a metallic frame, the metallic frame including a curved back and a convex front;
a heart shaped setting defined within the metallic frame; and
at least two pear shaped precious stones, said stones being placed adjacent to one another within the heart shaped setting forming a heart shape.

2. The piece of jewelry of claim 1 further comprising two smooth, rounded top pins, grooved on the convex front.

3. The piece of jewelry of claim 1 further comprising a large curved bottom pin grooved on the convex front.

4. The piece of jewelry of claim 1 further comprising jewels paved along the periphery of the heart shaped setting.

5. The piece of jewelry of claim 1 further comprising a loop coupled to the metallic frame

6. The piece of jewelry of claim 5 wherein the loop includes jewels paved thereon.

7. The piece of jewelry of claim 1 wherein the piece of jewelry is a pendant.

8. The piece of jewelry of n claim 1 wherein the piece of jewelry is a ring.

9. A piece of jewelry comprising:

a setting pin assembly, the setting pin assembly including two top strips and a bottom strip;
a heart shaped setting defined within the setting pin assembly; and
at least two pear shaped precious stones, said stones being placed adjacent to one another within the heart shaped setting forming a heart shape.

10. The piece of jewelry of claim 7 wherein the top strips and the bottom strip each have an increasing cross section running from the center to the ends.

11. The piece of jewelry of claim 7 wherein the top strips are of the same length and the bottom strip is of less length than the top strips.

12. The piece of jewelry of claim 7 further comprising smooth, curved top and bottom pins grooved on the top and bottom strips.

13. The piece of jewelry of claim 7 further comprising a loop coupled to the setting pin assembly.

14. A piece of jewelry comprising:

a conical metal setting frame,
a heart shaped setting defined within the conical metal setting frame; and
at least two pear shaped precious stones, said stones being placed adjacent to one another within the heart shaped setting forming a heart shape.

15. The piece of jewelry of claim 12 further comprising a loop coupled to the conical metal setting frame.

16. A piece of jewelry comprising:

a setting pin assembly, the setting pin assembly including two top strips and a bottom strip;
a heart shaped setting defined within the setting pin assembly; and
at least two pear shaped precious stones, said stones being placed adjacent to one another within the heart shaped setting forming a heart shape.

17. The piece of jewelry of claim 14 wherein the top strips are of same length and have a constant cross section running from the center to their ends.

18. The piece of jewelry of claim 14 wherein the bottom strip of increasing cross section and of lesser length than the top strips running from the center to the end.

19. The piece of jewelry of claim 14 further comprises smooth, rounded top pins grooved on the top strips.

20. The piece of jewelry of claim 14 further comprising a smooth, curved bottom pin grooved on the bottom strip.

21. The piece of jewelry of claim 14 further comprising a loop coupled to the setting pin assembly.

22. The piece of jewelry of claim 14 further comprising smooth, elliptical top pins grooved on the top strips.

23. The piece of jewelry of claim 14 further comprising a smooth, curved bottom pin grooved on the bottom strip.

24. A piece of jewelry comprising:

a metallic frame, the metal setting frame including a flat back and flat front;
a heart shaped setting defined within the metallic frame; and
at least two pear shaped precious stones, said stones being placed adjacent to one another within the heart shaped setting forming a heart shape.

25. The piece of jewelry of claim 26 further comprising jewels paved along the periphery of the heart shaped setting.

26. The piece of jewelry of claim 26 further comprising a loop coupled to the metal setting frame.

27. The piece of jewelry of claim 28 wherein the loop includes jewels paved thereon.
