EXERCISE CHAIR

An exercise chair includes a front leg unit which is pivotably connected with a rear leg unit. A seat having a link is connected between a front end of the front leg unit and the seat, and a pivot unit is pivotably connected between a rear end of the seat and a lower end of a back rest. Two positioning plates are connected to two sides of the back rest and each positioning plate has a plurality of positioning holes. Two positioning pins each removably extend through the rear leg unit and one of the positioning holes so as to position the back rest at different angles.

Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to an exercise chair with a pivot unit so that the user can pivot or position the back rest relative to the seat.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

A conventional exercise chair 90 is shown in FIG. 8 and generally includes a front leg unit 91 and a rear leg unit 92 which is pivotably connected to the front leg unit 91 by two connection plates 93 located therebetween. Two elongate plates 94 are connected between the front and rear leg units 91, 92 and each plate 94 has a slot such that the two leg units 91, 92 can be pivoted toward each other by moving two extensions on the rear let unit 92 in the slots. A seat 95 and a back rest 96 are pivotably connected to the front leg unit 91. A T-shaped member 97 has one end connected to the seat 95 and the other end of the T-shaped member 97 is pivotably connected to the front leg unit 91. The user may sit on the seat 95 and tangle his/her feet to the T-shaped member 97 to swing the T-shaped member 97 to obtain the exercise purpose. Nevertheless, the seat and the back rest of the exercise chair do not have extra function and the user can only exercise the muscles of legs. All of these make the use of the exercise chair be boring.

The present invention intends to provide an exercise chair that includes a pivot unit connected to the seat and the back seat, and the seat and the back rest can be pivoted relative to each other such that the user can operate the chair in different ways.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to an exercise chair that comprises a front leg unit and a rear leg unit which is pivotably connected to the front leg unit. A seat has a link connected between a front end of the front leg unit and the seat. A pivot unit is pivotably connected between a rear end of the seat and a lower end of a back rest. Two positioning plates are connected to two sides of the back rest and each positioning plate has a plurality of positioning holes. Two positioning pins each removably extend through the rear leg unit and one of the positioning holes so as to position the back rest at different angles.

The present invention will become more obvious from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings which show, for purposes of illustration only, a preferred embodiment in accordance with the present invention.

FIG. 5 shows the chair when the pin extends through the third one of the three positioning holes of the plate;

FIG. 6 shows that the seat and the back rest are stretched so that the pivot unit is located at a high position;

FIG. 7 shows that two straps are connected to the back rest of the chair of the present invention, and

FIG. 8 shows a conventional exercise chair.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

Referring to FIGS. 1 and 2, the exercise chair 10 of the present invention comprises a front leg unit 20, a rear leg unit 30 which is pivotably connected to the front leg unit 20, a seat 40 and a back rest 50. The front leg unit 20 includes a first bar 22 and two first side rods 24 extend from two ends of the first bar 22. Two support members 26 are connected to the two first side rods 24. The rear leg unit 30 includes a second bar 32 and two second side rods 34 extend from two ends of the second bar 32. The two second side rods 34 are engaged with the two support members 26 and each second side rod 34 has a first hole and a second hole which will be mentioned later. The rear leg unit 30 has two arm rests 36 connected to the two second side rods 34. A link 42 is connected between a front end of the front leg unit 20 and the seat 40.

Two positioning plates 60 connected to two sides of the back rest 50 and each positioning plate 60 has a plurality of positioning holes 62, 64, 66 which are equally spaced from each other. Two positioning pins 70 each removably extend through the first hole in the second side rod 34 and one of the positioning holes 62, 64, 66 so as to position the back rest 50 at different angles.

Each of the support members 26 includes two sidewalls and each sidewall has a through hole which is in alignment with one of the positioning holes 62, 64, 66 of the positioning plate 60 corresponding thereto. The pins 70 each extend through the through hole, the first hole in the second side rod 34 and one of the positioning holes 62, 64, 66 so as to position the back rest 50 such that the back rest 50 is not pivoted about the seat 40.

A pivot unit 44 pivotably connected between a rear end of the seat 40 and a lower end of a back rest 50. The pivot unit 44 includes a third bar 441 and two third side rods 443 extend from two ends of the third bar 441. The two third side rods 443 are pivotably connected to the rear end of the seat 40. Two flexible members 46 are connected between the first bar 22 of the front leg unit 20 and the second bar 32 of the rear leg unit 30 so that when the seat 40 and the back rest 50 are pivoted relative to each other, the pivot unit 40 can be moved up and down to maintain the connection between the front and rear leg units 20, 30.

FIGS. 3, 4 and 5 show that when the pins 70 each extend through the first hole in the second side rod 34 and each of the three positioning holes 62, 64, 66 such that the back rest 50 is positioned at a position relative to the seat 40.

FIG. 6 shows that the pins 70 can be removed from the first holes of the rear leg unit 30 and inserted into the hole in the support member 26 and the second hole in the rear leg unit 30, such that the back rest 50 can be lowered and the shanks of the pins 70 stop the back rest 50 to be further collapsed.

FIG. 7 shows that two flexible straps 80 are connected on a top of the back rest 50 so that the user can pull the straps 80 when using the exercise chair 10.

While we have shown and described the embodiment in accordance with the present invention, it should be clear to those skilled in the art that further embodiments may be made without departing from the scope of the present invention.

Claims

1. An exercise chair comprising:

a front leg unit;
a rear leg unit pivotably connected to the front leg unit;
a seat having a link connected between a front end of the front leg unit and the seat;
a pivot unit pivotably connected between a rear end of the seat and a lower end of a back rest, which includes a third bar and two third side rods extend from two ends of the third bar, the two third side rods are pivotably connected to the rear end of the seat, and at least a flexible member is connected between the first bar of the front leg unit and the second bar of the rear leg unit to hold the third bar with the tension;
two positioning plates connected to two sides of the back rest and each positioning plate having a plurality of positioning holes, and
two positioning pins each removably extending through the rear leg unit and one of the positioning holes so as to position the back rest at different angles.

The chair as claimed in claim 1, wherein the front leg unit includes a first bar and two first side rods extend from two ends of the first bar, two support members are connected to the two first side rods, the rear leg unit includes a second bar and two second side rods extend from two ends of the second bar, the two second side rods are engaged with the two support members.

The chair as claimed in claim 2, wherein each of the support members includes two sidewalls and each sidewall has a through hole which is in alignment with one of the positioning holes of the positioning plate corresponding thereto, the pins each extend through the through hole and one of the positioning holes so as to position the back rest such that the back rest is not pivoted about the seat.

4. The chair as claimed in claim 2, wherein the rear leg unit has two arm rests connected to the two second side rods.
