According to the present invention, an inflatable pad assembly comprises:

an inflatable base pad having front and rear sides;

an inflatable back pad having a front side; and

a connecting unit for interconnecting detachably the inflatable base pad and the inflatable back pad such that the rear side of the inflatable base pad abuts against only a lower end portion of the front side of the inflatable back pad.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

Other features and advantages of the present invention will become apparent in the following detailed description of the preferred embodiment with reference to the accompanying drawings, of which:

FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a conventional inflatable bed;

FIG. 2 is a perspective view showing the preferred embodiment of an inflatable pad assembly according to the present invention;

FIG. 3 is an exploded perspective view of the preferred embodiment; and

FIG. 4 is a perspective view of an inflatable base pad, and a part of a connecting unit of the preferred embodiment.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

Referring to FIGS. 2 and 3, the preferred embodiment of an inflatable pad assembly according to the present invention is shown to include an inflatable base pad 1, an inflatable back pad 2, and a connecting unit.

The inflatable base pad 1 is formed as a rectangular pad, and has front and rear sides 11, 12, opposite first and second lateral sides 13, 14, and a bottom side 15.

The inflatable back pad 2 is formed as a rectangular pad, and has a front side 21, opposite first and second lateral sides 23, 24 corresponding respectively to the first and second lateral sides 13, 14 of the inflatable base pad 1, and a bottom side 25.

The connecting unit interconnects detachably the inflatable base pad 1 and the inflatable back pad 2 such that the rear side 12 of the inflatable base pad 1 abuts against only a lower end portion 211 of the front side 21 of the inflatable back pad 2, i.e., in this embodiment, the inflatable back pad 2 is positioned by the connecting unit so as to be perpendicular to the inflatable base pad 2, as shown in FIG. 2. In this embodiment, the connecting unit includes a zipper 3, two elongate plastic reinforcing strips 4, a first snap fastener unit 5, a second snap fastener unit 5′ opposite to the first snap fastener unit 5, and a third snap fastener unit.

The zipper 3 has two zipper halves 31 disposed respectively on the rear side 12 of the inflatable base pad 1 and the front side 21 of the inflatable back pad 2 and engaging detachably each other.

The plastic reinforcing strips 4 are disposed fixedly and respectively on the rear side 12 of the inflatable base pad 1 and the front side 21 of the inflatable back pad 2. The zipper halves 31 of the zipper 3 are fastened respectively to the reinforcing strips 4, as shown in FIG. 3.

In this embodiment, the first snap fastener unit 5 includes a female fastener 51 disposed on the first lateral side 23 of the inflatable back pad 2, a strap 52 fastened to the first lateral side 13 of the inflatable base pad 1, and a male fastener 53 disposed fixedly on the strap 52 of the first snap fastener unit 5 and engaging detachably the female fastener 51 of the first snap fastener unit 5.

The second snap fastener unit 5′, similar to the first snap fastener unit 5, includes a female fastener 51′ disposed on the second lateral side 24 of the inflatable back pad 2, a strap 52′ fastened to the second lateral side 14 of the inflatable base pad 1, and a male fastener 53′ disposed fixedly on the strap 52′ of the second snap fastener unit 5′ and engaging detachably the female fastener 51′ of the second snap fastener unit 5′.

In this embodiment, the third snap fastener unit includes a plurality of female fasteners 51″ (see FIG. 3) disposed on the bottom side 25 of the inflatable back pad 2, a plurality of straps 52″ (see FIG. 4) fastened to the bottom side 15 of the inflatable base pad 1, and a plurality of male fasteners 53″ (see FIG. 4) disposed fixedly and respectively on the straps 52″ of the third snap fastener unit and engaging detachably and respectively the female fasteners 51″ of the third snap fastener unit.

In sum, due to the presence of the inflatable back pad 2, the inflatable pad assembly of the present invention can provide an effective and comfortable back support for a user sitting thereon.

While the present invention has been described in connection with what is considered the most practical and preferred embodiment, it is understood that this invention is not limited to the disclosed embodiment but is intended to cover various arrangements included within the spirit and scope of the broadest interpretation so as to encompass all such modifications and equivalent arrangements.
