Fender caddie

The Fender Caddie is new and different from any other portable tool holding organizing tray in that it is flat and large enough to display tools, parts, and hardware in it and be placed in the engine compartment of a vehicle at any angle so all work is at the finger tips of the mechanic. The serrated foam rubber bottom lets the tray set on any part of the engine or engine components without tipping, sliding, scratching, or damaging the surface it sets or lays on. The Fender Caddie is light weight with no brackets, arms, or attachments of any kind. The Fender Caddie needs no assembly it is a flat sheet of ridged plastic with four upright sides with a sheet of graduated in thickness serrated textured style foam rubber glued to the bottom of the flat plastic tray.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The Fender Caddie is a portable organizing and holding tray primarily used in the automotive industry by hobbyist and professional mechanic's when performing work in the engine area of a vehicle.

The Fender Caddie eliminates the need for a mechanic to lay tools, parts, and hardware on the car fenders, radiator, or firewall areas of the engine compartment The Fender Caddie helps prevent tools, parts, hardware, from falling into the engine area, sub frame of the car, or onto the shop floor. The mechanic will not have to walk around the car to pick up a tool or part he left out of reach on the opposite side of the vehicle or walk back to his shop bench or tool box that may be close to the car. The Fender Caddie is flat and large enough so tools can lay next to each other in an organized manner so the mechanic does not have to dig or hunt for tools or parts looking for a particular item that is located in some small individual tray.

The Fender Caddie needs no additional attaching hardware or arms to keep it stable. The Fender Caddie has a unique serrated textured style foam rubber bottom that keeps it level and stable no matter where the Fender Caddie is placed on top of the engine or engine area of the car.

When the job is completed the Fender Caddie, because of its light weight and portability, allows for easy quick removal and clean up of tools and parts all at the same time to be returned to their respective storage area's.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The Fender Caddie is a light weight portable flat tray with four up right sides that hold tools, parts, and hardware. The tray is made of a flat sheet of ridged hard plastic. The bottom of the plastic tray has a flat sheet of soft serrated textured style foam rubber that is graduated in thickness from one end to the other. The foam rubber sheet is glued to the plastic trays entire bottom surface area.

The Fender Caddie is a single tray without the need of any attaching arms or hardware. The Fender Caddie sets inside the engine bay on top of the engine or surrounding engine compartment area. The Fender Caddie will stay level in the engine compartment no matter where it's placed. The Fender Caddie stays level and horizontal because of its unique serrated textured style foam rubber bottom. The Fender Caddies serrated textured foam rubber bottom is soft enough so the bottom of the serrated foam rubber molds to whatever engine component the Fender Caddie is setting on. The serrated textured style foam rubber bottom is graduated in thickness from one end of the tray to the other end of the tray. The Fender Caddie can be turned in any direction so as to maintain a secure level horizontal position on uneven or sloping surfaces. This allows the mechanic to lay tools etc. in the tray area of the Fender Caddie and the tools etc. will not slide around or lay on top of each other while laying in the plastic tray. The Fender Caddie allows for tools and parts to be at the finger tips of the mechanic. The Fender Caddie helps prevent tools and parts or hardware from falling into the engine area or down to the shop floor or lower section of the engine area.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 SIDE VIEW: Hard plastic sheet with four sides. Bottom is made of a serrated textured foam rubber that has peaks and valleys resembling the inside of a paper made egg carton. The foam is graduated in thickness so as to allow for high, low, or slopping areas in the engine compartment.

FIG. 2 END VIEW: Looking at either end of the Fender Caddie tray and two of its four sides being of a 45 degree angle with the graduated thickness serrated foam rubber that is glued to the bottom of or under side of the hard flat plastic tray.

FIG. 3 DIAGONAL VIEW: Shows the tray section of the Fender Caddie tray as well as how the sides and serrated style foam bottom are attached together by being glued to each other.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The Fender Caddie is made of two parts. The first part is the top or tray. FIG. 1 shows a flat sheet of hard stiff plastic, metal, or wood about one quarter to three eights of an inch thick. The tray has four upright sides. The two long upright sides are at a 45 degree angle to the tray bottom. The two short or end upright sides are at a 90 degree angle to the tray bottom.

As seen in FIG. 2 and FIG. 3 the second part is a sheet of serrated textured type sheet foam rubber. The serrated textured type sheet foam rubber is of a graduated thickness and is glued to the entire bottom area of the upper hard plastic tray. The bottom surface of the serrated foam rubber sheet has high and low areas resembling the inside configuration of an ordinary paper egg carton container. This is what allows the Fender Caddie to conform to uneven surfaces that the bottom of the serrated foam rubber sheet would set on.

The Fender Caddie is light in weight and portable. The tray section is used to hold tools, hardware, parts, or any other thing that a person may choose to place on it as they do work on their car. Primarily it is placed in the engine bay or engine compartment of a vehicle.

The Fender Caddie is approximately 36 inches long and twelve inches wide. It has four upright sides each about three quarters to one inch high so that whatever is placed in the tray will not roll or fall off the tray. What makes the Fender Caddie unique and different from any other portable tool holding tray is the bottom of the tray.

So as not to have to use any attaching arms or hardware, glued to the bottom of the hard plastic tray is a sheet of soft dense serrated style foam of a graduated thickness. The serrated textured style of this foam rubber resembles the inside of an egg carton with high and low or peaks and valley sections. The serrated sections keep the bottom of the foam rubber sheet from slipping or sliding so the tray stays where its placed. The serrated foam rubber bottom is pliable enough so that it will contour itself to any part or parts in the engine bay such as hoses, wiring, fuel injector housings, air conditioning components, power steering pumps and hoses, etc. The serrated foam rubber bottoms graduated serrations are what make the Fender Caddie stay in a level and horizontal position.

Once the repair or work is finished whatever is in the Fender Caddies portable tray can be returned to their respective storage areas all at the same time by simply picking up the Fender Caddie and carrying everything back to be put away all at one time. This cuts down on the walking back and forth from bench or tool box to car.

When not in use the Fender Caddie is compact and small enough to be stored away under a bench or hung on a wall for easy retrieval for the next job.
