Flame Flashback Resistant Gas Burner

A gas burner includes: a base having a bottom wall and a surrounding wall that extends upwardly from the bottom wall, that cooperates with the bottom wall to define an inner space, and that is formed with flame apertures in fluid communication with the inner space; a partitioning unit dividing the inner space into a main gas chamber and at least one buffer gas chamber separated from the main gas chamber, the partitioning wall being formed with through-holes that are in fluid communication with the main gas chamber and the buffer gas chamber and that open toward the bottom wall of the base; and a gas input conduit secured to the bottom wall of the base and in fluid communication with the main gas chamber.

Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The invention relates to a gas burner, more particularly to a gas burner that is resistant to flame flashback.

2. Description of the Related Art

As shown in Figures land 2, a conventional gas burner includes a burner body 1 and a gas input conduit 2 extending outwardly from a bottom of the burner body 1. The burner body 1 includes a bottom wall 103, a surrounding wall 105 that extends upwardly from the bottom wall 102, and a top wall 104 covering a top opening of the surrounding wall 105. The burner body 1 defines an inner space 101 therein. The surrounding wall 105 is formed with a plurality of flame apertures 107 in fluid communication with the inner space 101 and the atmosphere. The gas input conduit 2 is secured to the bottom wall 103 of the burner body 1, and defines a gas input channel 201 in fluid communication with the inner space 101.

In use, the combustible gas is introduced into the inner space 101 in the burner body 1 through the gas input channel 201 in the gas input conduit 2, discharges into the atmosphere through the flame apertures 107, and is ignited at the flame apertures 107.

The conventional gas burner in disadvantageous in that, since a significant amount of the gas remains in the inner space 101 in the burner body 1 when the gas burner is turned off, explosion in the inner space 101 is likely to occur due to flame flashback, which can result in damage to the gas burner.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Therefore, the main object of the present invention is to provide a gas burner that can overcome the aforesaid drawback associated with the prior art.

Accordingly, a gas burner of this invention comprises: a base having a bottom wall and a surrounding wall that extends upwardly from the bottom wall, that cooperates with the bottom wall to define an inner space therein, and that is formed with a plurality of flame apertures in fluid communication with the inner space and the atmosphere, the surrounding wall having a top opening; a partitioning unit dividing the inner space into a main gas chamber and at least one buffer gas chamber separated from the main gas chamber, the partitioning wall being formed with a plurality of through-holes that are in fluid communication with the main gas chamber and the buffer gas chamber and that open toward the bottom wall of the base; a cover covering the top opening of the surrounding wall of the base; and a gas input conduit secured to the bottom wall of the base and in fluid communication with the main gas chamber.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

As shown in FIGS. 3 to 5, the preferred embodiment of a gas burner according to the present invention includes: a base 11 having a bottom wall 111 and a surrounding wall 112 that extends upwardly from the bottom wall 111, that cooperates with the bottom wall 111 to define an inner space 14 therein, and that is formed with a plurality of flame apertures 114 in fluid communication with the inner space 14 and the atmosphere, the surrounding wall 112 having a top opening; a partitioning unit 13 dividing the inner space 14 into a main gas chamber 141 and at least one buffer gas chamber 142 separated from the main gas chamber 141, the partitioning unit 13 being formed with a plurality of through-holes 135 that are in fluid communication with the main gas chamber 141 and the buffer gas chamber 142 and that open toward the bottom wall 111 of the base 11; a cover 12 covering the top opening of the surrounding wall 112 of the base 11; and a gas input conduit 20 secured to the bottom wall 111 of the base 11 and including a gas input channel 21 in fluid communication with the main gas chamber 141.

In this embodiment, the surrounding wall 112 has two opposite side wall portions 112′ that are formed with the flame apertures 114. The partitioning unit 13 includes two opposite partitioning walls 13′ that are respectively disposed adjacent to the side wall portions 112′ of the surrounding wall 112 of the base 11 and that cooperate with the base 11 to define two of the buffer gas chambers 142. Each of the partitioning walls 13′ has a vertical wall portion 132 that is disposed adjacent to and that confronts the flame apertures 114 in the respective one of the side wall portions 112′ of the surrounding wall 112, and a horizontal wall portion 133 that is transverse relative to the vertical wall portion 132 and that is disposed adjacent to and that confronts the bottom wall 111. The through-holes 135 are formed in the horizontal wall portions 131 of the partitioning walls 13′. The vertical and horizontal wall portions 132, 133 of each of the partitioning walls 13′ are substantially and respectively parallel to the respective one of the side wall portions 112′ of the surrounding wall 112 and the bottom wall 111 such that each of the buffer gas chambers 142 has an L-shaped cross-section.

Preferably, referring again to FIG. 5, each of the partitioning walls 13′ further has a positioning portion 134 extending outwardly and transversely from a top edge of the vertical wall portion 132. Each of the side wall portions 112′ of the surrounding wall 112 of the base 11 has a rim 1121 extending outwardly and transversely therefrom. The cover 12 includes a main cover portion 121 and two opposite hook portions 122 extending respectively from two edges of the main cover portion 121 and cooperating with the main cover portion 121 to define two retaining grooves. The rim 1121 of each of the side wall portions 112′ and the positioning portion 134 of a respective one of the partitioning walls 13′ extend into a respective one of the retaining grooves, and are pressed together with a respective one of the hook portions 122 of the cover 12.

In use, the combustible gas is introduced into the main gas chamber 141 through the gas input channel 21, and then passes through the through-holes 135, the buffer gas chambers 142, and the flame apertures 114 so as to be ignited at the flame apertures 114 (as best shown in FIG. 5).

By virtue of the partitioning walls 13′ installed in the inner space 14 in the base 11 of the gas burner of this invention, the aforesaid explosion drawback associated with the conventional gas burner can be eliminated.

While the present invention has been described in connection with what is considered the most practical and preferred embodiment, it is understood that this invention is not limited to the disclosed embodiment but is intended to cover various arrangements included within the spirit and scope of the broadest interpretation so as to encompass all such modifications and equivalent arrangements.

Claims

1. A gas burner comprising:

a base having a bottom wall and a surrounding wall that extends upwardly from said bottom wall, that cooperates with said bottom wall to define an inner space therein, and that is formed with a plurality of flame apertures in fluid communication with said inner space and the atmosphere, said surrounding wall having a top opening;
a partitioning unit dividing said inner space into a main gas chamber and at least one buffer gas chamber separated from said main gas chamber, said partitioning unit being formed with a plurality of through-holes that are in fluid communication with said main gas chamber and said buffer gas chamber and that open toward said bottom wall of said base;
a cover covering said top opening of said surrounding wall of said base; and
a gas input conduit secured to said bottom wall of said base and in fluid communication with said main gas chamber.

The gas burner as claimed in claim 1, wherein said partitioning unit includes a partitioning wall having a vertical wall portion that is disposed adjacent to and that confronts said flame apertures in said surrounding wall, and a horizontal wall portion that is transverse relative to said vertical wall portion and that is disposed adjacent to and that confronts said bottom wall, said through-holes being formed in said partitioning wall.

3. The gas burner as claimed in claim 2, wherein said vertical and horizontal wall portions of said partitioning wall are substantially and respectively parallel to said surrounding wall and said bottom wall.

4. The gas burner as claimed in claim 3, wherein said buffer gas chamber has an L-shaped cross-section.
