Mirrored Shadow Box Jewelry Holder for Open Hook Jewelry
This invention is designed to provide flexibility of décor options while providing easy access, storage, display and the ability to sample-view the wearing of any jewelry that attaches to a persons body part with a hook. This invention is unique due to the combination of the decorative frame, see-through mesh screen (for jewelry hanging), shadow box and mirror features. This invention is intended for wall mounting similar to a picture or mirror.
The organizing of personal jewelry, especially hanging type jewelry is a constant struggle for most people. While many products are available that store or display jewelry, the need for new and creative products will only increase as more and more people obtain and need to store their jewelry in a fashionable and accessible way.
THE PROBLEM AND RELATED PRIOR ACTSThe type of jewelry that this invention is designed for is the hanging jewelry that attaches to a persons body part with an open hook. These types of jewelry hang down from the hook typically from ½-inch to 6 inches or more. The hanging jewelry becomes tangled and twisted and difficult to access when placed in a jewelry box. Numerous prior acts have attempted to solve the problems related to storage and display of jewelry, however, no device has been designed with the flexibility of décor, a see-through mesh screen, shadow box and mirror incorporated into a single wall hanging unit. Examples of prior act devices that attempt to solve the jewelry storage and display issues are: United States patents discovered in the records of the United States Patent and Trademark Offices for example: U.S. Pat. No. 7,008,029 issued Mar. 7, 2006 to Aclin, U.S. Pat. No. 5,950,815 issued Nov. 25, 1998 to Yetman-Bellows, U.S. Pat. No. 5,363,950 issued Nov. 25 to Carter, U.S. Pat. No. 5,121,815 issued Jun. 16, 1992 to Lindsey, et al, U.S. Pat. No. 4,905,821 issued Mar. 6, 1990 to Corbett and U.S. Pat. No. 4,821,883 issued Jan. 7, 1988 to Miller. All of the above prior acts incorporate a mesh or woven material over a frame of some sort for the random displaying of jewelry. This invention is different in that the mesh is see-through and is placed in the forefront of a shadow box and a mirror facing the mesh and front of the invention is placed at the back of the shadow box.
SUMMARY OF INVENTIONThis invention of a mirrored shadow box jewelry holder will allow a person to store and display jewelry with a hook attaching method in a decorative, easy to access way that simultaneously allows a person to sample-view the wearing of said jewelry. The decorative frame offers a variety of design features. The see-through mesh screen will give the illusion of the jewelry floating in air. The shadow box feature gives depth to the jewelry hanger while providing the space behind the screen that prevents hook contact with the mirror feature. The mirror feature allows sample viewing for the user while wearing the jewelry. This combination allows the user to view, select and sample-view all in one location without having to leave or manipulate the invention. The intended setup location of this invention is to hang the invention on a wall at eye level, although it can be set on a horizontal surface with little effort using an easel or similar device.
The invention is intended for wall mounting at eye level of the user, although it can be placed on a horizontal surface like a dresser or vanity with the addition of an easel or similar device. It is an integrated design with function first as jewelry storage and display, second as design as a variety of decorative frames can change the appearance but not the function or features of the invention and lastly as a combination design and function with the mirror feature providing for the attractive reflection and an instant sample viewing while the user is wearing the jewelry.
Standard picture frame hanging hardware is then installed at the back of the invention so that the invention can be displayed on the wall.
Claims
1. The invention of a jewelry holder for hanging, displaying and sample viewing of any jewelry that attaches to any body part with a hook.
2. An invention with a decorative rectangular or square frame with a groove (rabbit) at the back inside margin of the decorative frame. The purpose of the decorative frame is to provide a variety of décor options to the jewelry holder while allowing support of the following functional components: see-through screen, shadow box frame and mirror.
3. A see-through mesh screen attached with adhesive to the decorative frame at the back inside groove of the decorative frame. The purpose of the see-through screen is to provide an area for random hanging and displaying of the hook attaching jewelry while allowing visible access to the following components: shadow box frame and mirror.
4. rectangular or square shadow box frame with a minimum depth of ½-inch and with a groove (rabbit) at the back inside margin of the shadow box frame. The front margin of the shadow box frame is secured into the groove of the decorative frame with adhesive thus sandwiching the see-through mesh screen between the decorative frame and the front margin of the shadow box frame. The purpose of the shadow box frame is to provide a minimum ½-inch clearance between see-through mesh screen and the mirror.
5. A mirror set into the groove at the back inside margin of the shadow box frame. The purpose of the mirror is to provide both a decorative aspect and a functional aspect to the jewelry holder. The functional aspect of the mirror is to allow the user to sample-view the wearing of the jewelry without moving away from the jewelry holder.
6. A thin piece of cardboard-like material is attached mechanically (brads or screws) to the back margin of the shadow box. The purpose of the cardboard-like material is to cover the edges of the mirror and to allow attachment of wall hanging devices (hooks or wires).
