SAFETY GLOVE
The present invention relates to a safety glove including: an inner shell adapted to be in direct contact with the wearer' hand, the inner shell being made of a general fiber material; an outer shell adapted to be in direct contact with an object or tool, the outer shell being made of a cotton material that is reinforced and coated at the inside thereof; and a plurality of safety elements made of a metal material or a reinforced plastic material and having chevron patterns and inverted chevron patterns cut to a given size, the chevron patterns being disposed in first rows and the inverted chevron patterns being disposed in second rows, the first rows and the second rows being arranged symmetrically with each other, the chevron patterns of the first rows and the inverted chevron patterns of the second rows being interleaved with each other in an symmetrical fashion in such a manner that an inverted chevron pattern is positioned above and below the space between two adjacent chevron patterns , respectively.
This application is a continuation-in-part application based on patent application Ser. No. 11/308,543 filed on Apr. 4, 2006.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION1. Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a safety glove, and more particularly, to a safety glove that is provided with an inner shell, an outer shell, and a plurality of safety elements formed on a palm portion thereof, such that even though a wearer's hand comes in contact with a sharp object during the work, the formation of the inner shell and the plurality of safety elements enables the wearer's hand to be protected from the danger or injury, and even when the glove is worn by a wearer, the fingers of the wearer are relatively free in their motion, thereby making it convenient in use.
2. Background of the Related Art
In general, safety for people engaged in all kinds of industrial sites should be primarily considered while they are working, and thus, safety devices like a helmet for protecting a wearer's head and a safety glove for protecting a wearer's hand have been mostly used. Especially, the safety glove is necessarily provided when the industrial job activities are done by using the wearer's hand.
That is to say, while pressing is conducted or the job activity is conducted by using a rotary body like a cutting machine, a grinder, a rotary saw, and so on, the safety glove is generally used for protecting the wearer's hand from various dangers, and such the safety glove is made of fabric like cotton cloth, which is popular to the workmen engaged in various industrial sites, because they can feel a high wearing sense and purchase the safety glove at relatively low costs.
However, since most of the conventional safety glove is made of fabric, it is difficult to perfectly protect a workman's hand or fingers from a sharp object during the working, and even though it is made of leather having a high tension strength, it is also difficult to completely protect the workman's hand from a sharp rotary body or fixed body like a blade or a cutter. Thus, several safety gloves are worn, or a substantially thick safety glove is worn. In this case, wearer's fingers are inconvenient to be free in their motion, which makes the working efficiency greatly low.

Therefore, there is a need for the development of a novel safety glove for perfectly protecting a wearer's hand from keen objects, for example, during he or she rescues persons and for removing torn iron plates or broken glass pieces made by traffic or other accidents, such that as the wearer's activities become rapid and free, the working period of time can be substantially reduced and thus, the damage caused by the accidents can be greatly decreased.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONAccordingly, the present invention has been made in view of the above-mentioned problems occurring in the prior art, and it is an object of the present invention to provide a safety glove that is provided with an inner shell made of a general fiber material, an outer shell made of a specific coated material for protecting sliding thereon and improving the gripping force thereof, and a plurality of safety elements formed on a palm portion thereof and made of metals or reinforced plastic, thereby doubly protecting a wearer's hand against his or her carelessness and external sources.
To accomplish the above object of the present invention, according to the present invention, there is provided a safety glove having a back portion for inserting the fingers of a wearer' hand therethrough, the back portion being made of fabric, a palm portion for inserting the fingers of the wearer's hand therethrough in such a manner as to be shaped to generally conform to the back portion and adapted to be joined with the back portion in such a manner as to be formed integrally with the back portion or sewn with the back portion, a wrist protecting portion formed at the lower ends of the back portion and the palm portion for supporting the wrist of the wearer's hand, when the wearer's fingers are inserted into the safety glove, and a fastening member connected at one side of the wrist protecting portion in such a manner as to be tightly connected to the other side thereof, wherein the palm portion includes: an inner shell adapted to be in direct contact with the wearer' hand, the inner shell being made of a general fiber material; an outer shell adapted to be in direct contact with an object or tool, the outer shell being made of a cotton material that is reinforced and coated at the inside thereof; and a plurality of safety elements made of a metal material or a reinforced plastic material and having V chevron patterns and inverted V chevron patterns cut to a given size, the V chevron patterns being disposed in first rows and the inverted V chevron patterns being disposed in second rows, the first rows and the second rows being arranged symmetrically with each other, the V chevron patterns of the first rows and the inverted V chevron patterns of the second rows being interleaved with each other in an symmetrical fashion in such a manner that an inverted V chevron pattern is positioned above and below the space between two adjacent V chevron patterns, respectively.

Now, an explanation of the safety glove according to preferred embodiments of the present invention will be given with reference to the attached drawings.
According to the present invention, first, a safety glove 100, which is adapted to be inserted into a wearer's hand so as to do his or her work or activities, includes a back portion (which is not shown) for inserting the fingers of a wearer's hand therethrough and connected integrally with a finger insertion portion, the back portion being made of fabric, and a palm portion 110 for inserting the fingers of the wearer's hand therethrough in such a manner as to be shaped to generally conform to the back portion and adapted to be joined with the back portion in such a manner as to be formed integrally with the back portion or sewn with the back portion.
Further, a wrist protecting portion 120 is formed at the lower ends of the back portion and the palm portion 110, and when the wearer's fingers are inserted, it functions to support the wearer's wrist thereagainst. The wrist protecting portion 120 has a fastening member connected at one side thereof in such a manner as to be tightly connected to the other side thereof.

Also, the outer shell 130 is adapted to be in direct contact with an object or tool and made of a cotton material reinforced and coated at the inside thereof.
The plurality of safety elements 150 are formed between the inner shell 140 and the outer shell 130, each of which is made of a metal material or a reinforced plastic material and have chevron patterns and inverted chevron patterns cut to a size in a range between 2 mm and 3 mm. Thus, the plurality of safety elements 150 are fixedly attached at given intervals, thereby doubly protecting the wearer's hand from keen objects like a knife, cutter, and so on.

The outer shell (which is not shown), which is in direct contact with objects or tools, is preferably made of reinforced and coated cloth or leather material.
As mentioned above, the safety glove according to the present invention is provided with the inner shell made of a general fiber material, the outer shell made of a specific coated material, and the plurality of safety elements made of a metal material or a reinforced plastic material and having the chevron patterns and inverted chevron patterns arranged row by row in a symmetrical relation to each other at given intervals.
The inverted chevron patterns and the chevron patterns are interleaved with each other in an symmetrical fashion in such a manner that an inverted chevron pattern is positioned above and below the space between two adjacent chevron patterns , respectively, thereby doubly protecting the wearer's hand against his or her carelessness and external sources.
Also, the safety glove of this invention has a sliding preventing member attached at appropriate positions of a palm portion thereof, thereby improving a gripping force at a time of wearing the safety glove and preventing sliding against an object to abut.
Moreover, the safety glove of this invention has a back portion provided with an outer shell, an inner shell, and a plurality of safety elements, like a palm portion thereof, such that when a wearer's hand comes in contact with an object like a rotary body, it can be perfectly protected against the object, and that additionally has a material corresponding to that of the inner shell is proved between the safety elements and the outer shell on the palm portion, which enables those who are engaged in the industrial fields to have a wider selecting range for the safety glove and also enables the wearer's hand to be sufficiently protected from safety accidents.
While the present invention has been described with reference to the particular illustrative embodiments, it is not to be restricted by the embodiments but only by the appended claims. It is to be appreciated that those skilled in the art can change or modify the embodiments without departing from the scope and spirit of the present invention.
Claims
1. A safety glove comprising a back portion for inserting the fingers of a wearer' hand therethrough, the back portion being made of fabric, a palm portion for inserting the fingers of the wearer's hand therethrough in such a manner as to be shaped to generally conform to the back portion and adapted to be joined with the back portion in such a manner as to be formed integrally with the back portion or sewn with the back portion, a wrist protecting portion formed at the lower ends of the back portion and the palm portion for supporting the wrist of the wearer's hand, when the wearer's fingers are inserted into the safety glove, and a fastening member connected at one side of the wrist protecting portion in such a manner as to be tightly connected to the other side thereof,
- wherein the palm portion comprises:
- an inner shell adapted to be in direct contact with the wearer' hand, the inner shell being made of a general fiber material;
- an outer shell adapted to be in direct contact with an object or tool, the outer shell being made of a cotton material that is reinforced and coated at the inside thereof; and
- a plurality of safety elements made of a metal material or a reinforced plastic material and having chevron patterns and inverted chevron patterns cut to a given size, the chevron patterns being disposed in first rows and the inverted chevron patterns being disposed in second rows, the first rows and the second rows being arranged symmetrically with each other, the chevron patterns of the first rows and the inverted chevron patterns of the second rows being interleaved with each other in an symmetrical fashion in such a manner that an inverted chevron pattern is positioned above and below the space between two adjacent chevron patterns, respectively.
2. A safety glove according to claim 1, wherein each of the plurality of safety elements has a size in a range between 2 mm and 3 mm.

A safety glove comprising a back portion for inserting the fingers of a wearer' hand therethrough, the back portion being made of fabric, a palm portion for inserting the fingers of the wearer's hand therethrough in such a manner as to be shaped to generally conform to the back portion and adapted to be joined with the back portion in such a manner as to be formed integrally with the back portion or sewn with the back portion, a wrist protecting portion formed at the lower ends of the back portion and the palm portion for supporting the wrist of the wearer's hand, when the wearer's fingers are inserted into the safety glove, and a fastening member connected at one side of the wrist protecting portion in such a manner as to be tightly connected to the other side thereof,
- wherein the palm portion comprises:
- an outer shell adapted to be in direct contact with the wearer' hand, the outer shell being made of a general fiber material; and
- a plurality of safety elements made of a metal material or a reinforced plastic material and having chevron patterns and inverted chevron patterns cut to a size in a range between 2 mm and 3 mm, the chevron patterns being disposed in first rows and the inverted chevron patterns being disposed in second rows, the first rows and the second rows being arranged symmetrically with each other, the chevron patterns of the first rows and the inverted chevron patterns of the second rows being interleaved with each other in an symmetrical fashion in such a manner that an inverted chevron pattern is positioned above and below the space between two adjacent chevron patterns respectively.
