This application is a Continuation-in-Part Application and claims priority benefits of co-pending patent application Ser. No. 11/644,594 filed Dec. 22, 2006. The teachings of this related application are incorporated herein by reference thereto.
FIELD OF THE INVENTIONThe present invention generally relates, in general, to work clothing and, more particularly, this invention relates to carpenter pants, or shorts, with specialized pockets which can be configured to the wearers preference based on several varying factors of need, temperature and utility and, still more specifically, this invention relates to specialized pockets on such carpenter pants which can be either permanently attached by sewing or removably attached by other means.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTIONCarpenter pants are work pants that are specifically designed to accommodate an assortment of tools. Painters and other manual laborers, as well as carpenters, wear the pants. The pants are generally rugged and well designed. Such pants can be rather expensive but since they are designed for hard labor and rugged wear workers generally believe they are worth the price. The design generally incorporate two primary features which distinguish them from normal pants. The first is they have a loose flexible fit which allows the wearer to squat with ease. The loose cut of the pants also promotes freedom of movement. The second feature is that they have pockets, tabs and loops to hold tools of the trade. Many pairs of carpenter pants also have a wide waistband to accommodate a tool belt.
The presently available types of work clothing do not offer the wearer the ability to be able to configure their clothing with the pockets necessary for holding items such as nails, hand tools, tape measures, hammers or other commonly used tools based on the needs of the job they are working on. Furthermore, they do not provide the worker the ability to reduce the weight of bulky pockets that are not needed in order to save the fatigue of the wearer, especially in warmer, humid climates.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONA work garment having a front portion and a back portion for providing a user with the ability to carry tools and other work related equipment, such work garment comprising a waist portion including a plurality of belt loops. There is a pants panel portion having each of a right leg portion and a left leg portion engageable with the waist portion for covering a predetermined portion of a wearer, the pants panel portion including a front portion and a back portion. A plurality of specialized pockets are engageable with the pants panel portions. At least one of the specialized pockets being disposed on a side of such pants panel portion closely adjacent an outside seam of the pants panel portion. There is an attachment means for securing the specialized pockets to the pants panel portion.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTIONIt is, therefore, one of the primary objects of the present invention to provide clothing with specialized pockets.
Another object of the present invention is to provide clothing with multiple pocket arrangements.
Still a further object of the present invention is to provide specialized pockets for carrying tools for the user's convenience.
Yet another object of the present invention is to provide specialized pockets that are disposed on the side of the pants leg so that such tools are handy for the user.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a specialized pocket that is a speed square pocket.
A further object of the present invention is to provide clothing with removable or permanent pockets to reduce weight.
These and various other objects and advantages of the present invention will become more readily apparent to those persons skilled in the art after a full reading of the following detailed description, particularly, when such description is read in conjunction with the attached drawing and with the appended claims.
Prior to proceeding with the more detailed description of the present invention it should be noted that, for the sake of clarity, identical components which have identical functions have been designated by identical reference numerals throughout the several views illustrated in the drawings.
Referring now to the drawing Figures, a garment (hereinafter referred to as work pants) with at least one of permanently attached, removably attached and configurable pockets constructed according to a presently preferred embodiment of the invention is generally indicated by the reference numeral 10. The work pants 10 further includes a waist portion 20 which includes a predetermined plurality of belt loops 21. The pants panel portion 30 includes a right leg portion 31 and a left leg portion 32 attached to the waist portion 20, for covering a predetermined portion of such wearer. Additionally, there is a plurality of specially designed pockets 40 and an attachment means 50 for securing such specialized pockets 40 to such pants panel portion 30. It is presently preferred that such attachment means 50 for attaching such specialized pockets 40 to such pants panel portion 30 is by sewing.
However, it is within the concept of the invention that such pockets could be removably attached to the pants panel portion by means of snaps, zippers, hook and loop and other mechanical means. The pants panel portion 30 of the work pants 10 have the plurality of removably or permanently attached specialized pockets 40, 33 which are configured for receiving and holding various work related equipment. Again as stated previously it is presently preferred that such specialized pockets 33,40 be permanently attached by means of sewing. In the embodiment when the plurality of specialized pockets 40 are removably attached such specialized pockets 40 utilize an attachment means 50 which is selected from a group consisting of snaps, zippers, hook and loop, and other mechanical fasteners.
Such specialized pockets are made from a group of materials consisting of leather, cloth, plastic, nylon, cotton and polyester. It is presently preferred that such pockets are leather. These specialized pockets 40 are commonly used to retain work related equipment in close proximity to the wearer's body.
The work related equipment normally includes tools and supplies as would commonly be used during working activities.
As is clearly seen in both
As seen in
There is also a hammer loop 33 attached to a top part of the back portion of the pants 10 closely adjacent to such waist portion 20 for keeping a hammer handy.
Although the work pants 10 as seen in
Thus, The present invention provides a garment with a plurality of specialized pockets 40 and 33 attached by at least one of sewing in a permanent fashion and being removable with preselected type fasteners. The garment includes a waist portion for encompassing a waist of a wearer, and a pants panel portion having a right leg portion and a left leg portion attached to the waist portion. The garment can be, as commonly known, pants or shorts. The present invention further includes specialized pockets of varying size and shape for holding a plurality of tools and fastening equipment. The tools can be hand tools, electric tools, or other commonly used work tools for performing work related activities.
The pants also include an attachment means for attaching the specialized pockets to the pants or shorts. In addition to tools the specialized pockets can also hold items such as nails, screws, rivets, or other items used in a work related activity. The specialized pockets are permanently attached to such pants by sewing or can be removably attached to the garment through the use of zippers, snaps, hook and loop or other attachment means. These can be interchangeable and removed as required based on the need of the wearer. This allows for the wearer to customize the pockets for comfort and utility based on weather, temperature, and basic needs. Additionally the pockets can be made from cotton, nylon, polyester, plastic or leather based on the intended use of the pocket, and preference of the wearer It is further within the scope of the invention for such specialized pockets to be permanently attached for cost reasons.
While both the presently preferred and a number of alternative embodiments of the present invention have been described in detail above it should be understood that various other adaptations and modifications of the present invention can be envisioned by those persons who are skilled in the relevant art without departing from either the spirit of the invention or the scope of the appended claims.
