Abstract

A privacy nursing blanket comprising a fabric portion for covering an infant during nursing with fasteners for removably securing to a nursing bra. The blanket may further comprise: a solid fabric portion and a sheer portion on said blanket; fasteners for removably securing to a nursing bra wherein said fasteners comprise a first and a second fastener adapted for removably securing to a first and a second nursing bra attachment that removably engages a first and a second nursing bra flap on a first and a second nursing bra cup; a solid fabric portion and a sheer portion. It is also an object to provide a nursing bra comprising one or more cup portions with one or more fasteners for removably securing flaps over said one or more cups for nursing an infant; and the fasteners being adapted to receive one or more blanket fasteners on a privacy nursing blanket.

Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to nursing bras. More particularly, the present invention relates to a nursing bra and blanket with removable attachments for allowing a child to nurse in public without the blanket being inadvertently removed.

2. Description of Related Prior Art

Nursing or privacy blankets are useful for nursing while in public and for not offending the sensibilities of those around you. However, current methods are cumbersome and can provide a sometimes stifling covering for the nursing infant and mother. Examples of typical over the neck or “bib” blankets are found in U.S. Pat. No. D542,509 and its referenced patent documents disclosed therein.

On the other hand, current nursing bras provide a number of different ways for allowing a mother to easily nurse an infant which usually include an attachment mechanism such as a snap or button allowing a flap over the bra cups to fold down exposing a lactating breast.

Therefore, what is needed is a nursing blanket that can be adapted to fit onto nursing bra attachments when the nursing bra flaps are folded down to allow nursing of an infant while also covering as little as the mother to decrease the amount of heat generated during nursing and to allow for a better hands-free nursing environment.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Accordingly, it is an object of the present invention to provide a A privacy nursing blanket comprising a fabric portion for covering an infant during nursing with one or more fasteners for removably securing to a nursing bra.

The privacy nursing blanket further comprising a solid fabric portion on a proximal end of said blanket and a sheer portion on a distal end of said blanket.

The privacy nursing blanket further comprising fasteners for removably securing to a nursing bra wherein said fasteners comprise a first and a second fastener adapted for removably securing to a first and a second nursing bra attachment that removably engages a first and a second nursing bra flap on a first and a second nursing bra cup.

The privacy nursing blanket further comprising a solid fabric portion and a sheer portion and the fasteners for removably securing to a nursing bra comprise a first and a second fastener adapted for removably securing to a first and a second nursing bra attachment that removably engages a first and a second nursing bra flap on a first and a second nursing bra cup.

A nursing bra comprising one or more cup portions with one or more fasteners for removably securing flaps over said one or more cups for nursing an infant; and the fasteners are adapted to receive one or more blanket fasteners on a privacy nursing blanket.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS AND PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

A complete understanding of this invention can be gained through reference to the drawings in conjunction with a thorough review of the disclosure herein.

What is disclosed is a nursing blanket with fasteners 2 adapted to removably secure to a nursing bra 1. In a preferred embodiment, a blanket is adapted to secure to attachments that engage a flap 3 that folds and unfolds over bra cups to accommodate a nursing infant.

FIGS. 1 and 2 show female snap fasteners 2 on a nursing bra 1 that can be mated with corresponding male snaps sewn onto a blanket. However, fasteners for securing blanket to a nursing bra can also include buttons, Velcro-type hook and loop fasteners, pins, clips, ties, buckles, or zippers and as are shown in FIGS. 3 and 4. Fasteners, such as snaps 2, can be preferably secured to blanket through stitching or even adhesives.

Once secured, a distal end of a blanket can then be extended to cover a nursing infant. (not shown) However, and because nursing generates heat between infant and mother and is often performed during warm days, a fabric can also have a sheer portion 4 sewn or otherwise secured to the distal end of blanket with the remaining proximal portion of the blanket comprising a solid 5 fabric portion. Thus, the sheer portion allows ambient air to cool down infant and mother while nursing. Preferred sheer materials include nylon, plastic mesh, or other lightweight fabric to reduce heat. A dual solid 5 and sheer 4 blanket can be fabricated by stitching sheer material to a solid fabric portion where they intersect 7. Other adhesive or methods that can allow the fabric and mesh to be permanently or removably secured are also possible.

The above disclosures do not represent all of the embodiments of the present invention. Those skilled in the art will appreciate many other ancillary embodiments that flow from the novelty of the present invention contained herein.

Claims

1. A privacy nursing blanket comprising:

a fabric portion for covering an infant during nursing with one or more fasteners for removably securing to a nursing bra.

2. The privacy nursing blanket of claim 1 wherein:

said fabric portion further comprises a solid fabric portion on a proximal end of said blanket and a sheer portion on a distal end of said blanket.

3. The privacy nursing blanket of claim 1 wherein:

said fasteners for removably securing to a nursing bra comprises a first and a second fastener adapted for removably securing to a first and a second nursing bra attachment that removably engages a first and a second nursing bra flap on a first and a second nursing bra cups.

4. The privacy nursing blanket of claim 1 wherein:

said fabric portion further comprises a solid fabric portion and a sheer portion; and

said fasteners for removably securing to a nursing bra comprises a first and a second fastener adapted for removably securing to a first and a second nursing bra attachment that removably engages a first and a second nursing bra flap on a first and a second nursing bra cups.

5. A nursing bra comprising:

one or more cup portions with one or more fasteners for removably securing flaps over said one or more cups for nursing an infant; and

said fasteners are adapted to receive one or more blanket fasteners on a privacy nursing blanket.
