DISPOSAL BAG FOR DIAPERS AND OTHER REFUSE AND METHOD
A disposal bag (1) having a rear panel (9) having a front face (22) and a rear face (23), a bottom edge (13) and at least two side edges (14) and a front panel (6) connected to the rear panel (9) along the edges (13 and 14) to form a pocket (15). A flap (7) extends from the rear panel (9) and has located thereon an adhesive (21) to permit a user to removably secure the disposal bag (1) to a surface (3), such as the surface of a diaper changing table (2). Designs (5) and/or indicia (20) may be located on the front and/or rear panels (6 and/or 9) of the disposal bag (1). To use, a person first secures the adhesive (21) to a surface (3). Then, the user places trash (24), which may be soiled diapers (16) and/or other refuse (10), into the pocket (15). The user then detaches the adhesive (21) from the surface (3) and seals the adhesive (21) to the front panel (9) to enclose the trash (24) within the disposal bag (1).
This invention relates to disposal bags, more specifically, a disposal bag for diapers and other refuse and method that permits a user to quickly and easily discard a soiled diaper and/or other refuse.
When caring for a baby, changing diapers is oftentimes the most dreaded and disliked activity of all. Not only is one dealing with human waste, which is inherently unsanitary, but is doing so on a frequent basis, oftentimes up to twelve times a day when caring for a newborn.
In addition, the baby being changed oftentimes dislikes the diaper changing act as much as the person doing the changing as the baby is exposed to air cooler than he/she prefers. Moreover, the baby especially dislikes being maneuvered during diaper changing when he/she is tired.
To change a baby, a person must first obtain a clean diaper and place the baby on a flat surface for changing, which is usually a diaper changing table that is elevated a predetermined distance above a floor surface. Then, the soiled diaper is removed and usually the baby is cleaned. The clean diaper is then placed onto the baby and is secured. Finally, the soiled diaper is discarded into a diaper disposal device, diaper disposal pail or other disposal device, which is usually located near the diaper changing area.
Due to the stress on both the caregiver and baby, many caregivers attempt to make the diaper changing process as quickly as possible so as to minimize the stress on both the caregiver and the baby. However, disposal of the soiled diaper is usually a “two-handed” task as many diaper disposal devices and pails require lifting of a lid with one hand and twisting or holding of the diaper disposal device with another hand. As the caregiver should always maintain at least one hand on the baby during diaper changing sessions, the caregiver should place the baby back into his/her crib or onto a safe area and then dispose of the soiled diaper, thus making the diaper changing process even longer. Although some caregivers attempt to leave the baby on the diaper changing table in order to “quickly” dispose of the soiled diaper and return to the baby, such is never advisable as the baby may roll off the changing table and become injured. As a general rule, at least one hand should always remain on the baby whenever the changing his/her diaper.
Thus, there exists a need for a disposal bag for diapers and other refuse and method that permits a user to safely, quickly and easily discard a soiled diaper and/or other refuse with one hand while permitting a user to maintain the other hand on a baby or have the other hand free.
The relevant prior art includes the following patents:
The primary object of the present invention is to provide a disposal bag for diapers and other refuse and method that permits a user to discard a soiled diaper and/or other refuse with one hand while permitting the user to maintain the other hand on a baby or have the other hand free.
A further object of the present invention is to provide a disposal bag for diapers and other refuse and method that is easy to use.
An even further object of the present invention is to provide a disposal bag for diapers and other refuse and method that permits a user to quickly discard a soiled diaper.
An even further object of the present invention is to provide a disposal bag for diapers and other refuse and method that permits a user to quickly discard refuse.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a disposal bag for diapers and other refuse and method that is convenient to use.
An even further object of the present invention is to provide a disposal bag for diapers and other refuse and method that promotes safety.
The present invention fulfills the above and other objects by providing a disposal bag for diapers and other refuse having a rear panel having a front face and a rear face of a predetermined size and shape, a bottom edge and at least two side edges and a front panel of a predetermined size and shape connected to the rear panel along the bottom and side edges to form a pocket. A flap extends a predetermined distance from the rear panel and has located thereon a securing means to permit a user to removably secure the diaper disposal bag to a surface. The securing means may be located on the rear panel front face or rear panel rear face. In addition, designs and/or indicia may be located on the front and/or rear panels of the diaper disposal bag.
To use the disposal bag of the present invention, a person first secures the securing means to a surface, which may be the topside, underside or side of a diaper changing table or to any surface in general. Then, the user places a predetermined amount of trash, which may be soiled diapers and/or other refuse, into the pocket. The user then detaches the securing means from the surface and seals the securing means to the front panel to enclose the trash within the diaper disposal bag.
The above and other objects, features and advantages of the present invention should become even more readily apparent to those skilled in the art upon a reading of the following detailed description in conjunction with the drawings wherein there is shown and described illustrative embodiments of the invention.
In the following detailed description, reference will be made to the attached drawings in which:

Finally,
Because the disposal bag 1 of the present invention permits a person to access the pocket 15 quickly and easily, he/she may use only one hand when discarding trash 24, such as a soiled diaper 16 and/or refuse 10, and sealing the disposal bag 1 shut. In addition, because the disposal bag 1 is sealed closed, the odors from the trash 24 is minimized.
To assist in the reduction of odors, the disposal bag 1 may include fragrance or an odor-killing substance. Moreover, the disposal bag 1 may be made of a biodegradable material so as to be environmentally friendly.
The use of the present invention will allow a person to safely, quickly and easily discard a soiled diaper and/or other refuse with one hand while permitting a user to maintain the other hand on a baby or, in the alternative, have the other hand free.
It is to be understood that while a certain form of the invention is illustrated, it is not to be limited to the specific form or arrangement of parts herein described and shown. It will be apparent to those skilled in the art that various changes may be made without departing from the scope of the invention and the invention is not be considered limited to what is shown and described in the specification and drawings.
