Expandable and contractible interchangeable handbag lining system
Given the name “Quick Change Purse”; it relates to carrying bags having a removable interior lining which can expand and contract in length and/or in depth depending on the size and/or shape of the bag it is fitted into so one can change styles, sizes and/or colors of their bag in an instant. Said lining may be lengthened to fit into a longer bag or shortened to fit into a smaller bag. Likewise another way to expand or contract said lining, two or more linings may be attached together by a fastening device to increase it's depth for fit into bigger bags or taken apart to decrease its size for a proper fit into smaller bags. The lining system may also change the color of some of the adaptable transparent handbags included in the system, may be reversible and is removable for the purpose of use as another handbag.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION1. Field of the Invention
This invention relates to carrying bags and more particularly to a handbag lining system whereas any one bag in this system has a removable lining that can be expanded and/or contracted to fit into another bag of the same or different style and/or size made for the system. In addition, the lining system may be reversible whereas one may turn it inside out to achieve a different color and/or pattern of which said lining may be used separately as a handbag itself. Another choice that embodies this system is the option to secure any one of the linings available in this handbag system into one of the transparent plastic handbags made for the system whereas causing the lining color and/or design to show through the plastic of the handbag giving one the option of changing the color and/or design of that particular handbag.
2. Description of the Related Art
It has always been more of a time problem than a monetary problem when it comes to women wanting to coordinate their handbag with the outfit they are wearing. Women will spend money on accessories such as shoes and handbags. It's easy and quick to slip on a pair of color and style coordinated shoes. However, one can not make more time to change to the handbag you would really like to carry for the day. Up until now there has been no real solution to this problem. Some of the common desires that women have are to have a handbag that they can change in an instant that would not only be color coordinated, but a change of style and/or size. Another desire is to be able not only to change those issues but also to be able to change the color of the hardware from silver to gold or maybe bronze or possibly a combination of two or more metal colors. The handbags hardware may include handle rings, feet of which the handbag sets on and any metal decorations the handbag may feature. Most handbags may have either silver or gold hardware. Women also wish to have a handbag that they can travel with whereas they only have to take one handbag and would be able to color coordinate with any outfit they bring to travel with.
Many attempts have been made to solve some of the handbag problems, however they have not been able to eradicate all of the issues as stated above. My present invention solves all these issues.
For instance, the invention titled “pocketbook with interchangeable covers” U.S. Pat. No. 7,028,730 has interchangeable covers that fit over one style and size foundation handbag. With this particular invention one can not change the style or size or the hardware color. Also you are “stuck” so-to-speak with the same color and size handles. The only advantage to this cited reference is the fact that you can change the color and design of the material of the handbag.
Another invention titled “interchangeable handbag” U.S. Pat. No. 6,971,424 is extremely limited in its' capabilities to fit the needs of what women desire in a handbag today. The invention basically has inserts that also fit within one style and size handbag. Once again one is also limited to the same size and color of handle. With this invention you can only change a portion of the basic handbag since it is a center insert of which you can change the color and/or design of the material. That is not much of a change. It does not fulfill the needs of what women want in a handbag.
Once again another handbag invention titled “interchangeable carrying bag system” U.S. Pat. No. 6,543,499 falls far short of filling the needs and wants of today's women when it comes to handbags. Its' foundation bag is fitted with detachable handles and also as with the first cited reference it has covers that fit over the foundation bag. Once again one is limited to one style and one size handbag. I would not be inclined to think women will want to take the time to place a strip of the material that is included in the system to cover up the hook and loop tape should they want to use the foundation bag as their choice for the day nor to take it off to fit a different cover over the foundation bag. Another drawback is that women will more than likely lose this strip over time. As with the other cited inventions within, the interchangeability is very limited and therefore does not encompass all the needs that women have today for a handbag.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONMy newly invented carrying bag lining system I call the “Quick Change Purse”. The carrying bag may sometimes be referred to but not limited to and can include, purse, bag, handbag, tote, pocketbook, briefcase, laptop case, or any other carrying bag. It is designed with a removable interior lining that can be expanded or contracted so one can quickly change their carrying bag without removing any personal contents of their bag to the one they desire at the moment. For instance, just remove the interior lining that contains all of the purse's contents and place it in another purse (designed for the system) of one's choice. Depending on the size and/or shape of the purse it is fitted into, said interior lining can be expanded (if the present purse one is fitting is larger) referring to making the said interior lining longer in length by unfastening the lining material to make larger with devices such as but not limited to zippers, snaps, magnets and/or hook and loop tape also known as velcro, or contracted referring to making the interior lining shorter in length by fastening the lining material to make smaller with said devices of the same means aforementioned, if the newly chosen purse is smaller than the previous one that was used. Also, expandable and contractible refers to two or more interior linings that can be fastened together or taken apart using, but not limited to said fastening devices to expand the amount of said linings one would like to use in a bag or lessen the amount of said linings used for a smaller bag of which refers to filling the depth of a carrying bag.
The expandable and contractible interior lining (which may be referred to as the bag lining, lining or carrying bag lining) of the carrying bag is removable and may or may not be detachable by the use of a fastener. Said lining may or may not contain separate compartment(s) that may be removable. Said separate compartments may be made with but not limited to any material such as cloth, plastic or any combination of materials and may or may not contain closure devices but not limited to ones such as zippers, magnetic closures, buttons, snaps and/or velcro. The bag lining may be attachable and detachable by means of but not limited to devices such as velcro, snaps, zippers, buttons or without any said device. Said carrying bag expandable and contractible lining is not limited to any one style, size, shape, ornamentation or color.
The separate adaptable exterior bag of the “Quick Change Purse” sometimes referred to as the outer bag, may be made of but not limited to any material such as cloth, plastic, wood, or any combination of materials that is suitable for carrying bags and is not limited to any one style, size, shape, ornamentation or color and not limited to any one device for closure. Said exterior bags may or may not have attachable and/or removable or convertible outer covers for versatility of design, color and style. These adaptable exterior bags comprising of removable expandable and contractible interior linings as described above may or may not be reversible.
One of the adaptable carrying bags for the expandable and contractible lining system will include, but not limited to adaptable carrying bags made of transparent plastic not limited to any one style, size or shape. When said removable lining is inserted into this adaptable transparent plastic carrying bag the choice of the color and design of the said lining will give the transparent bag a different color and design each time the said lining is interchanged with a different color and design choice and inserted inside the transparent bag. The design and/or color and/or ornamentation of the said lining will show through the clear plastic giving the said outer bag the appearance of changing its color and/or design of fabric depending upon which lining is chosen to be inserted into the transparent bag.
Another feature of the invention is that the interior removable lining may be reversible where one may turn it inside out to change colors and/or design and when removed can be used as a separate carrying bag. Said lining may have handles for use as a separate carrying bag of which the handles may be removable and may be, but not limited to a drawstring, wood, ribbon, plastic, whereas any other effective materials and/or devices may be used.
One of the features of my new invention allows women to change in a moments notice the color and design of their handbag or carrying bag without the hassle and time to remove all of their personal contents while allowing them not to be restricted by color, style, shape or size of the bag because the said lining is not only removable but is expandable and contractible in length and/or depth as described in the first paragraph of this summary.
The transparent plastic carrying bag that is one aspect of the newly invented lining system allows women to travel with one bag and carry the colored linings of their choice for lightweight travel therefore enabling them to color coordinate their carrying bag with all their outfits. Said linings may be manufactured with any type of suitable material of any ornamentation, color and/or design of fabric. By interchanging the linings, they can achieve several different looks with only one handbag depending upon the amount of linings they choose to travel with.
Another feature of the removable lining system allows women to have yet two other choices. The invention allows the said lining to be used as a second and third carrying bag of one's choice. When said lining is removed it is made to be used separately if one wishes to do so as another carrying bag. Also, said removable lining may be reversible and when turned inside out it is another choice of color and/or design to coordinate with a woman's outfit. For example, this new invention is a perfect solution should one be at the office and wants to go to dinner and change to an evening bag. All she has to do is remove the lining and she has another handbag to use for the evening. If she wishes she can reverse it by turning it inside out for yet another look and/or color. It also solves the problem when one travels and would like to carry only one handbag which then can be transformed into different colors and looks depending on the number of linings one travels with.
My new invention allows women to change in a moments notice the color and design of their handbag or carrying bag without the hassle and time to remove all of their personal contents while allowing them not to be restricted by color, style, shape or size of the bag because the interior removable lining system is expandable and contractible. The transparent plastic carrying bag that is one aspect of the newly invented lining system allows women to travel with one bag and carry only the colored linings of their choice within the bag for lightweight travel and still be able to coordinate their carrying bag with their outfit. Other choices that women have with my new invention is the ability to change the color and/or fabric design of the outer bag as said outer bag may be reversible or have other adaptable covers to place over the outer bag by use of fastening devices such as, but not limited to buttons, zippers or snaps or an other equally effective fastening devices for the said task. Said outer bags may also have convertible exteriors whereas the outer surface of said outer bag will have another layer of material that can be unfastened from either the front or the back and wrapped around to either the front or the back of the bag and refastened wherein the opposite side of this other layer will have a different color and/or design of fabric or ornamentation. The fastening device for the convertible exterior may be, but not limited to buttons, snaps, hook and loop tape or ornamental hooks.
So that the aforementioned features of the present invention that is briefly summarized previously under, “Summary of the Invention”, can be understood in more detail, the following description accompanied by the drawings is given. However, it is to be understood and noted that the drawings are illustrations only of the typical embodiments of the invention and not as a definition of the limits of its scope.
