BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates generally to a twisting roller, and more particularly to an innovative roller which allows a locking groove and cutting groove to be assembled onto the baffle plate or housing for cutting and fixing wires.

2. Description of Related Art Including Information Disclosed Under 37 CFR 1.97 and 37 CFR 1.98.

The twisting roller of the present invention is an auxiliary tool that is widely applied to the construction and decoration industry. It generally has a circular shaft with expanded plate at both ends, where a ring groove for reeling of wires is defined externally onto the circular shaft. When the existing twisting roller is employed, the operators shall pull out the wires to a predefined length, then cut the wires with tools, pliers or burn out the wires with a cigarette lighter. However, when the twisting roller is applied to a flat location for horizontal or vertical measurement, the operators are often positioned on the scaffold or at dangerous site, and have to manually grasp the wires on the twisting roller while using pliers or lighters. In such case, there is the danger that operators may lose their balance. From another viewpoint, given the fact that the wires on twisting roller are made of flexible materials, the workers may find it difficult to cut off the wires with commonly used pliers. Also, the flame of the lighters may possibly be extinguished due to strong winds at the work site, leading to inconvenience and inapplicability.

Because there is no locking feature provided for the existing twisting roller and because the wires present excellent flexibility and sliding properties, the wire ends are possibly loosened, leading to inconvenient carrying and time-consuming rearrangement. Some users insert the wire ends into the winding wires, but find it difficult to search for them.

Thus, to overcome the aforementioned problems of the prior art, it would be an advancement in the art to provide an improved structure that can significantly improve efficacy.

Therefore, the inventor has provided the present invention of practicability after deliberate design and evaluation based on years of experience in the production, development and design of related products.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

There is improved efficacy of the present invention.

Based upon innovative structures, the baffle plate or housing of the twisting roller is provided additionally with a locking groove and cutting groove. The wires can be pulled through the cutting groove of the shield for direct cutting. As such, the operators could rapidly finish the cutting action more efficiently and safely without the need of other tools or a cigarette lighter.

After the wires are cut, the wire ends are locked securely into the locking groove, and a portion is exposed for convenient operation and fixation.

Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The features and the advantages of the present invention will be more readily understood upon a thoughtful deliberation of the following detailed description of a preferred embodiment of the present invention with reference to the accompanying drawings.

FIGS. 1-3 depict the first preferred embodiment of twisting roller with wire ends locking and cutting mechanism. The twisting roller 10 comprises a spool 11 (a circular shaft in this embodiment) for winding of wires 12 (e.g. nylon wire). Both ends of the spool 11 are provided separately with an expanded baffle plate 13 (a disc in this embodiment). A cutter 20 and a shield 30 are placed at one end of at least one baffle plate 13 of the twisting roller 10. The single-blade cutter 20 is assembled between the baffle plate 13 and shield 30. A locking groove 31 and a cutting groove 32 are assembled at both sides of the shield 30. The locking groove 31 locks the wire 12 (e.g. U-shaped), so that the blade 21 of said cutter 20 is exposed to the cutting groove 32 for cutting wire 12.

The baffle plate 13 of the twisting roller 10 is provided with a trough 14 for accommodating the cutter 20 and shield 30. As such, the cutter 20 and shield 30 present smoothness after assembly, meanwhile the cutter 20 is embedded (shown in FIG. 3) to avoid hurting the users.

Furthermore, the baffle plate 13 of the twisting roller 10 is provided with a button 15, whilst assembly holes 22, 33 are placed opposite to the cutter 20 and shield 30. So, the cutter 20 and shield 30 are assembled and positioned on the baffle plate 13 of the twisting roller.

Referring to FIGS. 4 and 5, the wire 12 can be pulled through the locking groove 31 of the shield 30, then pulled through the cutting groove 32, and cut off by the blade 21 of the cutter 20, so that the wire ends are locked into the locking groove 31 and protrude (shown in A of FIG. 5) for convenient operation.

FIGS. 6, 7, 8, and 9 depict the second preferred embodiment of a twisting roller with wire ends locking and cutting mechanism. The twisting roller 10 comprises a spool 11 for winding of wire. Both ends of the spool 11 are provided separately with an expanded baffle plate 13. A housing 40 is assembled externally onto the twisting roller 10. A hanging piece 41 is placed on top of the housing. Hanging hole 412 and holding hole 413 are arranged onto the hanging piece. A locking groove 51 and a cutting groove 52 are assembled at both sides of the hanging piece 41, while the blade of cutter 60 is enabled to be exposed into the cutting groove 52. The housing 40 of the preferred embodiment is composed of two semi-circular housings 401 and 402, so that button 42 and locking hole 43 are arranged on the assembly surface. Moreover, a recession 53 is placed laterally onto the cutting groove 52. A positioning pin 54 is placed into the recession, enabling assembly and positioning with the cutter 60 of positioning slot 61. A convex portion 44 is placed at both ends of the housing 40 and used to prevent the wire 12 being trapped between the housing 40 and twisting roller 10.

FIGS. 10, 11, and 12 depict the third preferred embodiment of a twisting roller with wire ends locking and cutting mechanism. The difference from the second preferred embodiment is that the housing 40B is of a single Π-shaped structure. A flexible clipping arm 45 is extended towards the bottom of both ends of the housing 40B, while a cylindrical axle block 46 protrudes at two ends of the clipping arm opposite to clipping arm 16 at the center of twisting roller 10. So, the axle block inserted into axle hole 16 (shown in FIG. 12) allows the housing 40B to be coupled with the twisting roller 10. Similar to the second preferred embodiment, a recession 53B is placed laterally onto the cutting groove 52B. A positioning pin 54B is placed into the recession, enabling assembly and positioning with the cutter 60 of positioning slot 61. A convex portion 44B is placed at both ends of the housing 40B and used to prevent the wire 12 being trapped between the housing 40B and twisting roller 10.

The cutting and fixing methods and the operating principle of the second and third preferred embodiments are the same with the first one.
