Frame System

Disclosed is a frame system for displaying an item. The frame system includes a panel, a panel cover, a central viewing portion and a back sheet. The panel includes an inner periphery and an outer periphery. The inner periphery defines the central viewing portion. The panel cover may be disposed on a rear face of the panel and removably secured thereon by a first adhesive. A portion of a rear face of the central viewing portion in proximity to the inner periphery may be coated with a second adhesive. The back sheet may be disposed on a rear face of the central viewing portion and removably secured thereon by the second adhesive. Removal of the back sheet enables the item to secure to a rear face of the central viewing potion and removal of the panel cover enables in detachably mounting the frame system with the item on a surface.

Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates generally to a frame system, and more particularly, to the frame system for displaying an item.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Currently, various decorative items are available for decorating households and business houses. These decorative items may include photographs, wall hangings, and the like. Decorative items such as photographs are typically placed in a frame system set on a table or desk, or hung on a wall by utilizing a wall hung frame system.

The wall-hung frame system used for decorative purposes must be mounted on walls by means of attachments such as nails. The attachment means may require holes to be made in surfaces the surface on which the frame will be hung, thereby harming the appearance of and otherwise damaging the walls. Further, the attachment means may require equipment such as hammers, screwdrivers, and mounting brackets to accomplish mounting of a frame.

Typically, an item such as a photograph may be kept intact within the frame system by some type of retaining arrangement, for example, a piece of cardboard. The cardboard may be placed at a back of the photograph and held in place by means of bendable clips on a periphery of the frame system. However, use of the bendable clips may cause significant degradation of the framed photograph. Moreover, the photographs may not be firmly held in the frame, which may lead to the photograph sliding out of the frame system.

More recently, frame systems of paper and polymeric materials have also been introduced. However the paper or polymeric frames do not provide adequate rigidity to support a photograph. Moreover, the paper frame system does not permit easy installation and removal of the photograph. Further, frequent changes in placement of the paper frame system reduce the life of the frame system, thereby affecting the life of the photograph.

In the light of the foregoing discussion, there is a need for a frame system that may be installed at places without the availability of attachment means, that may be shifted at users' ease, and may not degrade the quality of an item held in the frame system.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

In view of the foregoing disadvantages inherent in the prior art, the general purpose of the present invention is to provide a frame system for displaying an item and configured to include all the advantages of the prior art, and to overcome the drawbacks of the prior art inherent therein.

In one embodiment of the present invention, a frame system for displaying an item is provided. The frame system includes a panel, a panel cover, a central viewing portion and a back sheet. The panel includes an inner periphery and an outer periphery. Further, the panel includes a front face and a rear face. The rear face of the panel is coated with a first adhesive. The panel cover is disposed on the rear face of the panel and removably secured thereon by the first adhesive. The central viewing portion is defined by the inner periphery of the panel. The central viewing portion includes a front face and a rear face. A portion of the rear face of the central viewing portion in proximity to the inner periphery is coated with a second adhesive. The back sheet is disposed on the rear face of the central viewing portion and removably secured thereon by the second adhesive. The front face of the panel and the front face of the central viewing portion define a front face of the frame system. The rear face of the panel and the rear face of the central viewing portion define a rear face of the frame system. Upon removal of at least a portion of the back sheet, the item is capable of being disposed on the rear face of the central viewing portion and secured thereon by the second adhesive. Further, upon removal of the panel cover, the rear face of the panel is capable of being detachably adhered to a surface, thereby mounting the frame system with the item on the surface such that the item is viewable through the front face of the central viewing portion.

In another embodiment of the present invention, a frame system is provided. The frame system includes a panel, a central viewing portion and a panel cover. The panel includes an inner periphery and an outer periphery. Further, the panel includes a front face and a rear face. The rear face of the panel is coated with an adhesive. The central viewing portion is defined by the inner periphery of the panel. The central viewing portion includes a front face and a rear face. The panel cover is disposed on the rear face of the panel and removably secured thereon by the adhesive. The front face of the panel and the front face of the central viewing portion define a front face of the frame system. The rear face of the panel and the rear face of the central viewing portion define a rear face of the frame system. Upon removal of the panel cover, the item is capable of being disposed on the rear face of the frame system such that the item covers the central viewing portion and an outer marginal portion of the item is secured to a portion of the rear face of the panel in proximity to the inner periphery by the adhesive. A remaining portion of the rear face of the panel with the adhesive is capable of being adhered to a surface, thereby detachably mounting the frame system with the item on the surface and enabling the item to be viewable through the front face of the central viewing portion. In one embodiment of the present invention, the front face of the central viewing portion is removable such that the user may remove the front face of the central viewing portion after disposing the item on the rear face of the frame system.

In yet another embodiment the present invention, a frame system is provided. The frame system includes a panel, a central viewing portion and a cover. The panel includes an inner periphery and an outer periphery. Further, the panel includes a front face and a rear face. The rear face of the panel is coated with an adhesive. The central viewing portion is defined by the inner periphery of the panel. The central viewing portion includes a front face and a rear face. The rear face of the central viewing portion is coated with the adhesive. The front face of the panel and the front face of the central viewing portion define a front face of the frame system. The rear face of the panel and the rear face of the central viewing portion define a rear face of the frame system. The adhesive may be coated on the rear face of the panel and the rear face of the central viewing portion. Further, the cover may be disposed on the rear face of the frame system and removably secured thereon by the adhesive. Upon removal of the cover, the item may be capable of being disposed on the rear face of the central viewing portion such that the item may be secured to the rear face of the central viewing portion and the rear face of the panel may be secured to a surface, thereby mounting the frame system with the item on the surface and enabling the item to be viewable through the front face of the central viewing portion. In one embodiment of the present invention, the front face of the central viewing portion is removable such that the user may remove the front face of the central viewing portion before or after disposing the item on the rear face of the frame system.

In one embodiment of the present invention, a plurality of frame systems may be disposed in proximity to one another on a wall or adjoining walls to configure a display in the nature of a wallpaper border.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The exemplary embodiments described herein detail for illustrative purposes are subject to many variations in structure and design. It should be emphasized, however, that the present invention is not limited to a particular frame system, as shown and described. It is understood that various omissions and substitutions of equivalents are contemplated as circumstances may suggest or render expedient, but these are intended to cover the application or implementation without departing from the spirit or scope of the claims of the present invention. Also, it is to be understood that the phraseology and terminology used herein is for the purpose of description and should not be regarded as limiting.

The terms “first,” “second,” and the like, herein do not denote any order, quantity, or importance, but rather are used to distinguish one element from another, and the terms “a” and “an” herein do not denote a limitation of quantity, but rather denote the presence of at least one of the referenced item.

The present invention provides a frame system capable of being adhered to a surface such that an item is disposed between the frame system and the surface, thereby enabling the item to be viewable through the frame system. As used herein, the term “surface” refers to a surface of a greeting card, a book, a notebook, a locker, a window, a wall, a mirror, a car window, a car dashboard, a car bumper, a desk, a filing cabinet, furniture, a refrigerator, an appliance, a suitcase, and the like. Similarly, the term “item” refers to a photo, a menu, a recipe, a bulletin, a greeting card, an invitation card, a business card, artwork, and the like. The frame system of the present invention may be detachably adhered to the surface.

FIG. 1 illustrates a front view of a frame system 100, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. The frame system 100 includes a panel 200, a central viewing portion 300, a panel cover (not shown), and a back sheet (not shown). The panel 200 includes a front face 202 and a rear face (not shown). In one embodiment, the front face 202 of the panel 200 may be decorated with a designing feature. The designing features may include embellishments such as glitter, beads, jewels, buttons, ribbons, thread, embroidery, and eyelets. Further, the panel 200 includes an inner periphery 204 and an outer periphery 206 such that the inner periphery 204 of the panel 200 configures an area for the central viewing portion 300.

The central viewing portion 300 includes a front face 302 and a rear face (not shown), such that the front face 302 of the central viewing portion 300 and the front face 202 of the panel 200 configure a front face (not shown) of the frame system 100. Moreover, the rear face (not shown) of the central viewing portion and the rear face (not shown) of the panel 200 configure a rear face (not shown) of the frame system 100. The rear face of the frame system 100 is discussed further in conjunction with FIGS. 2 and 3. Further, the central viewing portion 300 may be provided with an ultraviolet resistant lining material to protect the central viewing portion 300 from any damage from ultraviolet light. For example, the central viewing portion 300 may get faded due to continuous exposure to sun or otherwise. Accordingly, the ultraviolet resistant lining material provided for the central viewing system may protect it from being damaged. In one embodiment of the present invention, the front face 302 of the central viewing portion 300 may be removed from the central viewing portion 300 before or after an item is disposed in the frame system.

FIG. 2 illustrates a rear view of the frame system 100, according to an embodiment of the present invention. The rear view of the frame system 100 is shown to include the panel cover 400 and a back sheet 500. The panel cover 400 may be configured to cover the rear face (not shown) of the panel 200. In one embodiment, the panel cover 400 may be adhered on to the rear face of the panel 200 by a first adhesive. More specifically, the panel cover 400 may be removably secured to the rear face of the panel 200 by the first adhesive, such that the panel cover 400 may mask the rear face (not shown) of the panel 200. The first adhesive may enable the panel cover 400 of the frame system 100 to be fixed to a surface, for example, a wall.

Further, the back sheet 500 may be configured to cover the rear face (not shown) of the central viewing portion 300. The back sheet 500 may be fixed to the rear face of the central viewing portion 300 by a second adhesive.

FIGS. 3A and 3B illustrate a rear view of the frame system 100 depicting an arrangement of the panel cover 400 and the back sheet 500, according to an embodiment of the present invention. As mentioned earlier, the panel cover 400 may be removably attached to the rear face (herein after referred as the rear face 208) of the panel 200 by the first adhesive. Accordingly, the panel cover 400 may be peeled off from the rear face 208 of the panel 200. Moreover, the back sheet 500 may be adhered to the rear face 304 of the central viewing portion 300 by applying the second adhesive in proximity to the inner periphery of the panel 200. More specifically, a portion of a rear face 304 of the central viewing portion 300 may be coated with the second adhesive.

In one embodiment, the back sheet 500 may be manufactured with a die-cut method such that the size of an item matches the size of the back sheet 500. The item may be disposed on the rear face 304 of the central viewing portion 300. Alternatively, the back sheet 500 may be used as a template for cutting the item (not shown) to the size of the central viewing portion 300. Accordingly, when the item is disposed on the rear face 304 of the central viewing portion 300, the entire item is viewable thorough the central viewing portion 300.

The method for displaying an item by using the frame system 100 may be explained as below. The method includes peeling off the back sheet 500 from the rear face 304 of the central viewing portion 300. In one embodiment of the present invention, at least a portion, for example, a portion 502 of the back sheet 500 may be peeled off initially. The at least a portion may define a complete width or a complete length of the back sheet 500, as illustrated in FIG. 3B.

FIG. 3B illustrates the portion 502 of the back sheet 500 completely peeled off from the back sheet. The peeled off portion 502 of the back sheet 500 may serve as a template for sizing the item, for example, a photograph, so that the size of the photograph may fit into the rear face of the central viewing portion 300. The portion 502 of the back sheet 500 may be placed on the photograph and the photograph may be trimmed to the size of back sheet 500.

Further, a remaining portion of the back sheet 500 may serve as a guide to insert the trimmed photograph onto rear face 304 of the central viewing portion 300. The trimmed photograph may be placed on the rear face 304 of the central viewing portion 300 such that a side of the photograph to be displayed may be kept facing the rear face 304 of the central viewing portion 300. This enables the photograph to be viewed from the front of the frame system 100. Thereafter the panel cover 400 may be peeled off from the rear face 208 of the panel 200 such that the first adhesive coated on the panel 200 may be exposed. Accordingly, the rear face 208 of the panel 200 may enable the frame system 100 along with the item in the central viewing portion 300 to be adhered to a surface, for example, a wall, a window etc.

For the purpose of this description, the frame system 100 is shown to be of a rectangular shape. Moreover, the frame system 100 is shown to include flat surfaces. However, it should be apparent to a person skilled in art that the frame system 100 may have any other geometrical shape. Further, the frame system 100 may be flexible enough to be adhered to a flat or curved surface, without departing from the teachings of the present invention.

FIG. 4 illustrates a rear view of a frame system 600, according to another embodiment of the present invention. The frame system 600 includes a panel cover 700; a central viewing portion 800; and a panel 900.

The panel 900 includes an inner periphery 902 and an outer periphery 904 such that an area between the inner periphery 902 and the outer periphery 904 defines an area of the panel 900. Further, the panel 900 includes a front face (not shown) and a rear face (not shown). In one embodiment, the front face may be decorated with one or more design features, for example, decorative embellishments. Further, the rear face (not shown) of the panel 900 may be coated with an adhesive. The panel cover 700 may be adhered on the rear face of the panel 900 by the adhesive such that the panel cover 700 may mask the rear face (not shown) of the panel. More specifically, the panel cover 700 may be removably secured to the rear face of the panel by the adhesive.

Further, the inner periphery 902 of the panel 900 defines the central viewing portion 800 of the panel 900. The central viewing portion 800 has a front face (not shown) and a rear face 802. The front face (not shown) of the central viewing portion 800 and the front face of the panel (not shown) define a front face of the frame system 600. The rear face (not shown) of the panel 900 and the rear face 802 of the central viewing portion 800 define a rear face of the frame system 600. The central viewing portion 800 may be provided with an ultraviolet resistant lining material for protecting the central viewing portion 800 from ultraviolet light. In one embodiment of the present invention, the front face of the central viewing portion 800 may be removed from the central viewing portion 800 before or after an item is disposed in the frame system 600.

FIG. 5 illustrates a rear view of the frame system 600 depicting an arrangement of the panel cover 700 over the panel 900, according to another embodiment of the present invention. The panel cover 700 may be removably fixed to the panel 900 by an adhesive such that the panel cover completely masks the rear face (herein after referred as the rear face 906) of the panel 900. The panel cover 700 may be peeled off from the rear face 906 of the panel 900, thereby exposing the adhesive coated on the rear face 906 of the panel 900. The adhesive may facilitate the attachment of an item on the rear face of the panel 900. Further, the adhesive may facilitate adhering the frame system 600 (along with the item) to a surface, for example, a wall.

The method for displaying an item in the fame system 600 may be explained as below. The method includes peeling off the panel cover 700 from the rear face 906 of the panel 900, thereby exposing the adhesive on the rear face 906 of the panel 900. Thereafter, the item may be disposed on the rear face 802 of the central viewing portion 800. An outer marginal portion of the item may be secured to a portion of the rear face 906 of the panel 900 in proximity to the inner periphery 902 of the panel by the adhesive, thereby enabling the photograph to be seen from the front face (not shown) of central viewing portion 800. Moreover, a remaining portion of the rear face 906 of the panel 900 along with the adhesive may be adhered to a surface, for example, a wall, thereby detachably mounting the frame system 600 with the item on the surface. Furthermore, a user may remove the front face of the central viewing portion 800 from the central viewing portion 800 before or after an item is disposed in the frame system.

FIG. 6 illustrates a rear view of a frame system 1000, according to yet another embodiment of the present invention. The frame system 1000 includes a central viewing portion 1100, a cover 1200 and a panel 1300.

The panel 1300 of the frame system 1000 has an inner periphery 1302 and an outer periphery 1304 such that an area between the inner periphery 1302 and the outer periphery 1304 defines the area of the panel 1300. Further, the panel 1300 includes a front face (not shown) and a rear face 1306. In one embodiment, the front face may be decorated with one or more design features, for example, decorative embellishments. Moreover, the rear face 1306 of the panel 1300 may be coated with an adhesive.

The inner periphery 1302 of the panel 1300 may define the central viewing portion 1100 of the frame system 1000. The central viewing portion 1100 includes a front face (not shown) and a rear face 1102 such that the front face (not shown) of the central viewing portion 1100 and the front face of the panel (not shown) define a front face of the frame system 1000. Moreover, the rear face 1102 of the central viewing portion and the rear face 1306 of the panel 1300 may define a rear face of the frame system 1000. The cover 1200 may be disposed on the rear face of the frame system 1000 and removably secured thereon by an adhesive coated on the rear face 1102 of the central viewing portion 1100 and on the rear face 1306 of the panel 1300. Further, the central viewing portion 1100 may be provided with an ultraviolet resistant lining material in order to protect to central viewing portion 1100 from ultraviolet light. In one embodiment of the present invention, the front face of the central viewing portion 1100 may be removed from the central viewing portion 1100 before or after an item is disposed in the frame system.

The method for displaying an item in the frame system 1000 may be described as below. The method includes peeling off the cover 1200 from the rear face of the frame system 1000, thereby exposing the adhesive on the rear face of the frame system 1000. The item may be placed covering the rear face 1102 of the central viewing portion 1100 of the frame system 1000, thereby adhering to the frame system 1100 with the adhesive. A portion of adhesive coated on the rear face 1102 of the central viewing portion 1100 enables the item to be adhered to the frame system 1000. Further, the remaining portion of the adhesive on the rear face of the panel 1300 enables the frame system 1000 to be adhered onto a surface, for example, a wall.

FIG. 7 illustrates a front view of a frame system 1400, depicting an arrangement of an item 1402 with the frame system 1400, according to various embodiments of the present invention. The examples of the frame system 1400 include the frame system 100, the frame system 600, and the frame system 1100. The front view of the frame system is shown to include a panel 1404 and the item 1402, such that the item 1402 may be secured to a rear face (not shown) of the frame system 1400. The panel 1404 may be decorated with a design, for example, a decorative embellishment. Moreover, the item 1402 may be a photograph.

FIG. 8 illustrates a perspective front view of the frame system 1400, depicting an arrangement of the frame system 1400 with a surface, according to various embodiments of the present invention. The frame system 1400 may be adhered to a surface 1500. The examples of the surface 1500 include, but are not limited to, a sticker, a greeting card, notebooks, lockers, windows, walls, a mirror, car dashboard, desk, filing cabinet, furniture, refrigerator, appliance, gift card, suitcase, and the like. As an illustration, FIG. 8 is shown to include the frame system 1400 adhered to a greeting card (herein after referred as greeting card 1500).

The frame system 1400 along with the item 1402 may be mounted on the greeting card 1500, thereby enabling the item 1402 to be viewable through the frame system 1400. In one embodiment, the frame system 1400 may be adhered to a glossy printing surface so that the frame system 1400 may be removed from the surface and may be re-adhered to another location.

The present invention provides a frame system for displaying an item. The frame system may be adhered to a surface and thereafter may be removed easily and repositioned to another surface without damaging the item. The invention avoids the use of attachment means, such as nails and equipments like hammers, screwdrivers for mounting the frame system on to the surfaces. This enables users to mount and demount the frame system with ease and without damaging the surface or the item therein. Moreover, the proposed frame system is light weight and easy to apply.

The foregoing descriptions of specific embodiments of the present invention have been presented for purposes of illustration and description. They are not intended to be exhaustive or to limit the invention to the precise forms disclosed, and obviously many modifications and variations are possible in light of the above teaching. The embodiments were chosen and described in order to best explain the principles of the invention and its practical application, and thereby enable others skilled in the art to best utilize the invention and various embodiments with various modifications as are suited to the particular use contemplated. It is understood that various omissions and substitutions of equivalents are contemplated as circumstances may suggest or render expedient, but such are intended to cover the application or implementation without departing from the spirit or scope of the claims of the present invention.

Claims

1. A frame system for displaying an item comprising:

a panel comprising an inner periphery and an outer periphery, the panel having a front face and a rear face, wherein the rear face of the panel is coated with a first adhesive;
a panel cover disposed on the rear face of the panel and removably secured thereon by the first adhesive;
a central viewing portion defined by the inner periphery of the panel, the central viewing portion having a front face and a rear face, wherein a portion of the rear face of the central viewing portion in proximity to the inner periphery is coated with a second adhesive; and
a back sheet disposed on the rear face of the central viewing portion and removably secured thereon by the second adhesive,
wherein the front face of the panel and the front face of the central viewing portion define a front face of the frame system, and the rear face of the panel and the rear face of the central viewing portion define a rear face of the frame system, and
wherein upon removal of at least a portion of the back sheet, the item is capable of being disposed on the rear face of the central viewing portion and secured thereon by the second adhesive, and
wherein upon removal of the panel cover, the rear face of the panel is capable of being detachably adhered to a surface, thereby mounting the frame system with the item on the surface, such that, the item is viewable through the front face of the central viewing portion.

2. The frame system of claim 1, wherein the item comprises at least one of a photo, a menu, a recipe, a bulletin, a greeting card, an invitation card, a business card, and artwork.

3. The frame system of claim 1, wherein the surface comprises at least one surface of a greeting card, a book, a notebook, a locker, a window, a mirror, a car window, a car dashboard, a car bumper, a desk, a filing cabinet, a furniture, a refrigerator, an appliance and a suitcase.

4. The frame system of claim 1, wherein the front face of the panel is decorated with a design.

5. The frame system of claim 1, wherein the central viewing portion comprises an ultraviolet resistant lining material for protecting the item from ultraviolet light.

6. The frame system of claim 1, wherein the back sheet is manufactured with a die-cut method.

7. The frame system of claim 6, wherein the at least a portion of the back sheet provides a template for cutting the item to the size of the central viewing portion.

8. A frame system for displaying an item comprising:

a panel comprising an inner periphery and an outer periphery, the panel having a front face and a rear face, wherein the rear face of the panel is coated with an adhesive;
a central viewing portion defined by the inner periphery of the panel, the central viewing portion having a front face and a rear face; and
a panel cover disposed on the rear face of the panel and removably secured thereon by the adhesive,
wherein the front face of the panel and the front face of the central viewing portion define a front face of the frame system, and the rear face of the panel and the rear face of the central viewing portion define a rear face of the frame system, and
wherein upon removal of the panel cover, the item is capable of being disposed on the rear face of the frame system, such that, the item covers the central viewing portion and an outer marginal portion of the item is secured to a portion of the rear face of the panel in proximity to the inner periphery by the adhesive, and
wherein a remaining portion of the rear face of the panel along with the adhesive is capable of being adhered to a surface, thereby detachably mounting the frame system with the item on the surface and enabling item to be viewable through the front face of the central viewing portion.

9. The frame system of claim 8, wherein the item comprises at least one of a photo, a menu, a recipe, a bulletin, a greeting card, an invitation card, a business card, and artwork.

10. The frame system of claim 8, wherein the surface comprises a surface of at least one of a greeting card, a book, a notebook, a locker, a window, a mirror, a car window, a car dashboard, a car bumper, a desk, a filing cabinet, a furniture, a refrigerator, an appliance and a suitcase.

11. The frame system of claim 8, wherein the front face of the panel is decorated with a design.

12. The frame system of claim 8, wherein the central viewing portion comprises an ultraviolet resistant lining material for protecting the item from being damaged by ultraviolet light.

13. A frame system for displaying an item comprising:

a panel comprising an inner periphery and an outer periphery, the panel having a front face and a rear face, wherein the rear face of the panel is coated with an adhesive;
a central viewing portion defined by the inner periphery of the panel, the central viewing portion having a front face and a rear face, the rear face of the central viewing portion being coated with the adhesive, wherein the front face of the panel and the front face of the central viewing portion define a front face of the frame system, and the rear face of the panel and the rear face of the central viewing portion define a rear face of the frame system; and
a cover disposed on the rear face of the frame system and removably secured thereon by the adhesive coated on the rear face of the panel and the rear face of the central viewing portion,
wherein upon removal of the cover, the item is capable of being disposed on the rear face of the central viewing portion, such that, the item is secured to the rear face of the central viewing portion and the rear face of the panel is secured to a surface, thereby mounting the frame system with the item on the surface and enabling the item to be viewable through the front face of the central viewing portion.

14. The frame system of claim 13, wherein the item comprises at least one of a photo, a menu, a recipe, a bulletin, a greeting card, an invitation card, a business card, and artwork.

15. The frame system of claim 13, wherein the surface comprises a surface of at least one of a greeting card, a book, a notebook, a locker, a window, a mirror, a car window, a car dashboard, a car bumper, a desk, a filing cabinet, a furniture, a refrigerator, an appliance and a suitcase.

16. The frame system of claim 13, wherein the front face of the panel is decorated with a design.

17. The frame system of claim 13, wherein the central viewing portion is provided with an ultraviolet resistant lining material for protecting the item from being damaged by ultraviolet light.
