Brush assembly for cleaning motorcycle chain

Abstract

A brush assembly includes a base and a cover which is mounted on the base. A plurality of first brushes are removably received in the base and a plurality of second brushes are connected to an under side of the cover. An extension pipe is connected to the underside of the cover and a plurality of outlet tubes extend from the extension pipe. An inlet pipe is connected to the cover and communicates with the extension pipe so as to intrusion detergent into the extension pipe and spread from the outlet pipes to which the second brushes are connected.

Description

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a brush assembly, and more particularly, to a brush assembly for cleaning motorcycle chain.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

A conventional brush assembly 1 for cleaning motorcycle chain is shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, and generally includes a cover 11 and a base 12 on which the cover 11 is mounted. The base 12 includes a plurality of brushes 13 located therein and a releasing pipe 15 is connected to a bottom of the base 12. The cover 11 includes a plurality of brushes 13 received therein and a plurality of inlet pipes 14 are connected to the cover 11 so as to introduce detergent into the space between the cover 11 and the base 12. A fixing member 17 such as a band is hooked on two hooks 16 on two sides of the cover 11 and goes around the bottom of the base 12 so as to secure the cover 11 and the base 12. The motorcycle chain extends through the brushes 13 and is cleaned by the detergent and the brushes 13. The detergent is then released from the releasing pipe 15. However, when the motorcycle is activated to move the chain, a severe vibration is applied to the base 12 and the cover 11, the fixing member 17 cannot hold the cover 11 and the base 12 properly. Besides, the detergent is supplied into the cover 11 from one side and can clean one side of the chain and might not able to clean the other side of the chain properly.

The present invention intends to provide a brush assembly for cleaning motorcycle chain and the detergent can be evenly spread on the chain and the brushes can be easily replaced.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a brush assembly that comprises a case comprising a base and a cover which is pivotably connected to one side of the base and mounted on the base. A hook is connected on the cover and a protrusion extends from a side of the base. The hook is removably hooked to the protrusion to position the cover on the base. A brush unit includes a plurality of first brushes removably received in the base and a plurality of second brushes are connected to an under side of the cover. The motorcycle chain extends through the base and detergent is supplied via the cover so that the motorcycle chain is evenly spread with the detergent and cleaned by the brushes.

The present invention will become more obvious from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings which show, for purposes of illustration only, a preferred embodiment in accordance with the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

Referring to FIGS. 3 to 5, the brush assembly 2 for cleaning motorcycle chain 5 of the present invention comprises a case 3 which is composed of a base 31 and a cover 32 which is pivotably connected to one side of the base 31 and mounted on the base 31. A hook 321 is connected on the cover 32 and a protrusion 312 extends from a side of the base 31 so that the hook 321 is removably hooked to the protrusion 312 to position the cover 32 on the base 31. The base 31 includes two recesses 311 defined in two end walls thereof and the two recesses 311 are opened when the cover 32 is mounted to the base 31, such that the motorcycle chain 5 extends through the base 31 via the two recesses 311 as shown in FIG. 5. The base 31 includes an inclined inner end and an escape pipe 313 is connected to an underside of the base 31. The escape pipe 313 communicates with an interior of the base 31 and located at the lowest position of the inclined inner end of the base 31. The detergent in the base 31 can be released via the escape pipe 313. The base 31 further includes two connection members 314 on two ends thereof and the two connection member 314 fix the base 31 to the motorcycle by using at least one fixing member 6 as shown in FIGS. 6 and 7.

A brush unit 4 includes a plurality of first brushes 41 removably received in the base 31 and a plurality of second brushes 42 connected to an under side of the cover 32. A plurality of rails 315 are connected to an inside of the base 31 and each rail 315 includes a groove. Each of the first brushes 41 includes flanges 411 extending from two ends thereof and the flanges 411 are slidably engaged with the grooves of the rails 315. The arrangement allows the first brushes 41 to be replaced.

An extension pipe 323 is connected to the underside of the cover 32 and a plurality of outlet tubes 324 extend from the extension pipe 323. An inlet pipe 322 is connected to the cover 32 and communicates with the extension pipe 323. Detergent is supplied via the inlet pipe 322 and spread from the outlet tubes 324. The second brushes 42 each have a through hole 421 with which the outlet tube 324 is engaged.

As shown in FIGS. 6 and 7, the brush assembly is secured to the motorcycle by connecting the fixing member 6 to the connection member 314 on the base 31 and the chain 5 extending through the base 31 via the two recesses 311, the cover 32 is then secured to the base 31. Detergent is supplied into the extension pipe 323 via the inlet pipe 322 and spreads to the first and second brushes 41, 42 via the outlet pipes 324. By this way, the chain 5 is evenly spread with the detergent and when the chain 5 is moving, the dust and grease attached on the chain 5 can be brushes off and the chain 5 is cleaned by the detergent. The brush assembly 2 can also be used as a lubricant brushing device by introducing lubricant into the extension pipe 323 and the lubricant is then spread to the chain 5.

While we have shown and described the embodiment in accordance with the present invention, it should be clear to those skilled in the art that further embodiments may be made without departing from the scope of the present invention.

Claims

1. A brush assembly comprising:

a case comprising a base and a cover which is pivotably connected to one side of the base and mounted on the base, a hook connected on the cover and a protrusion extending from a side of the base, the hook removably hooked to the protrusion to position the cover on the base, and

a brush unit including a plurality of first brushes removably received in the base and a plurality of second brushes connected to an under side of the cover.

2. The brush assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein at least one extension pipe connected to the underside of the cover and a plurality of outlet tubes extend from the at least one extension pipe, an inlet pipe is connected to the cover and communicates with the at least one extension pipe.

3. The brush assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein a plurality of rails are connected to an inside of the base and the first brushes are positioned on the rails.

4. The brush assembly as claimed in claim 3, wherein each of the first brushes includes flanges extending from two ends thereof and each rail includes a groove with which the flange is slidably engaged.

5. The brush assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein the base includes two recesses defined in two end walls thereof and the two recesses are opened when the cover is mounted to the base.

6. The brush assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein the base includes an inclined inner end and an escape pipe is connected to an underside of the base, the escape pipe communicates with an interior of the base and located at the lowest position of the inclined inner end of the base.

7. The brush assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein the base includes two connection members on two ends thereof.

8. The brush assembly as claimed in claim 2, wherein the second brushes each have a through hole with which the outlet tube is engaged.
