Korner keepers

Abstract

Korner Keepers is a sticker having 3 cut outs at 12:00 o'clock, 4:00 o'clock and 8:00 o'clock. This apparatus is comprised of threaded laminated peel away stickers shaped especially for applying and conserving the corners of keepsake cardboard boxes as its name implies. The very middle and intact part of the self adhesive angel design is applied to the corner point of a box and the three flaps are pressed over the three outer periphery edges to facilitate improved reinforcement or repair of cardboard boxes containing items needed to be stored in their original, delicate packaging, such as games, puzzles, shoes, kits, etc., as the first functional embodiment. Further embodiments will include elongated stickers or sheets of same variation for light duty plastic and for the binders of paperback, hardback or school text books.

RELATED APPLICATION

Under provisions of 35 U.S.C. §119(e), the Applicants claim the benefit of U.S. provisional application No. 61/044,740, filed on Apr. 14, 2008, which is incorporated herein by reference.

BACKGROUND

People have previously used regular tape which only holds temporarily. Duct tape also serves a greater, long-lasting purpose but is not transparent, nor attractive. Bottled glue would not be conducive for cardboard boxes frequently opened and closed or that of which has any substantial weight. These disadvantages exacerbate these relevant conditions and are not a viable solution. This often causes problems because the conventional strategy does not have the desired transparency and durability.

The wings of the sticker will slightly overlap thereby making the application more supportive for cardboard corners and this design feature would more preferred than a solid round sticker with no cut outs that would have bubbles, not lay flat and prevent the two units joining without added force maintaining its original veracity.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The following detailed description refers to the accompanying drawings. Wherever possible, the same reference numbers are used in the drawings and the following description to refer to the same or similar elements. While embodiments of the invention may be described, modifications, adaptations, and other implementations are possible. For example, substitutions, additions, or modifications may be made to the elements illustrated in the drawings, and the methods described herein may be modified by substituting, reordering, or adding stages to the disclosed methods. Accordingly, the following detailed description does not limit the invention. Instead, the proper scope of the invention is defined by the appended claims.

The apparatus 100 comprises two major embodiments, a first major embodiment and a second major embodiment of which has several alternative embodiments. Embodiments of the apparatus 100 in FIG. 1 comprise three layers laminated together. The first of the three layers comprises an antistatic,. paraffin wax contact paper as the substrate layer. The thickness varies from 20 to 500 micrometers.

The second of the three layers comprises an aqueous adhesive. The aqueous solution comprises half (½) an ounce of dissolved alum in 2 cups warm deionized water. The aqueous further comprises stirring flour or starch into the dissolved alum mixture to get a creamy consistency. Then 9 drops of clove oil and 1 teaspoon of powdered resin is added. The mixture is then cooked at 212 degrees Fahrenheit to increase viscosity for bonding. The aqueous adhesive may be employed in amounts from 1 pound per 10 square feet with thicknesses ranging from 1 to 100 micrometer. Upon drying and curing, the aqueous adhesive will provide excellent pin strength, as well as superior resistance to water.

The aqueous adhesive is thick and the same quality as that of a postage stamp which bonds permanently and may not be later removed without extreme force and damage to said packaging where material was adhered.

The third of the three layers comprises a label body. The label body comprises an outer polymer layer lined with impermeable industrial grade vinyl lined in a woven mesh pattern with acrylic-based plastic threads for added reinforcement, all being transparent and non-toxic in nature. The acrylic-based plastic threads resemble that of fishing line and aqueous adhesive is easily removed from the contact paper having a release liner secured thereto to protect the sticky element until ready for use.

The label body also comprises high-pressure-processed polyethylene having a density of from 0.800 to 0.835 g/cm³ and an average molecular weight of from 5,000 to 35,000, and/or a straight linear polymerized ethylene resin having a density of from 0.880 to 0.940 g/cm³.

The apparatus 100 in FIG. 1 may be configured such as an angel shape that may be in relation to a 360 degree circle. The apparatus 100 has 3 small triangular cut outs 200 as in FIG. 1. The cut outs 200 are located for example at 355-5 degrees, 115-125 degrees, and 235-245 degrees. Two vertexes may be collinear with the circumference of the circle and a third vertex may not meet in the circle center. The cut outs may be close to center of the circle as depicted in FIG. 1.

A high-pressure process produces the 3 layers. The three layers may have tearable perforations provided on the label body before an undersurface is coated with adhesive and attached to the antistatic wax contact paper. The perforations may be cut slits from 5 to 8 mm, and the distance between neighboring cut slits may be from 0.3 to 0.5 mm. After removal from the separable contact paper, the adhesion strength may be from 80 to 270 gf/10 mm when applied to a desired container 300.

Manufactured sheets may have scored lines of weakness for easy removal from contact paper, while individual units may be packaged. Consumer may select from a variety of sizes depending on their need. The apparatus may also be manufactured, packaged and sold in roles for consumer to size and cut based on independent needs.

While the specification includes examples, the invention's scope is indicated by the following claims. Furthermore, while the specification has been described in language specific to structural features and/or methodological acts, the claims are not limited to the features or acts described above. Rather, the specific features and acts described above are disclosed as example for embodiments of the invention.

Claims

1. An apparatus for preserving corner edges comprising,

contact paper;

aqueous adhesive; and

a label body.

2. The contact paper in claim 1 further comprising a substrate layer.

3. The aqueous adhesive of claim 1 further comprising,

dissolve alum;

deionized water;

flour;

clove oil; and

powdered resin.

4. The aqueous adhesive of claim 1 further comprising,

dissolve alum;

deionized water;

starch;

clove oil; and

powdered resin.

5. The label body of claim 1 further comprising an outer polymer.

6. The label body of claim 1 further comprising a high pressure processed polyethylene.

7. The outer polymer layer of claim 4 comprising an industrial grade vinyl lined in a woven mesh pattern of threads, all of which are transparent.

8. An apparatus for preserving corner edges comprising,

contact paper, wherein the contact paper comprises a substrate layer;

aqueous adhesive, wherein the aqueous adhesive comprises, dissolve alum, deionized water, flour, clove oil, and powdered resin; and

a label body, wherein the label body comprises an outer polymer and a high pressure processed polyethylene.

9. The aqueous adhesive of claim 8 further comprising,

dissolve alum;

deionized water;

starch;

clove oil; and

powdered resin.

10. The outer polymer layer of claim 8 further comprising an industrial grade vinyl lined in a woven mesh pattern of threads, all of which are transparent
