Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

(a) Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to an improved ergonomic chair, and more particularly to an ergonomic chair which enables a chair back to appropriately support the cervical vertebra, and thereby avoid neck pains when sitting.

(b) Description of the Prior Art

Chairs of the prior art are usually structured from a chair base, a chair cushion and a chair back, wherein the chair cushion is disposed on the chair base, and the chair back is joined to the chair cushion at an appropriate angle of inclination, thereby enabling the back of the user to lean against the chair back when sitting on the chair cushion.

However, chair backs of chairs of the prior art are unable to effectively support the cervical vertebra, resulting in poor head postures when sitting, thereby causing pressure on the peripheral nerves of the cervical vertebra when sitting or sleeping on chairs of the prior art for long periods of time and affecting development of the central nervous system.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Hence, in light of the shortcomings of the aforementioned chairs of the prior art, the inventor of the present invention, having accumulated knowhow and manufacturing experience of a diverse range of chairs, attentively researched various methods to resolve the shortcomings, which, following continuous research and improvements, culminated in the design of a completely new improved ergonomic chair of the present invention.

One objective of the present invention is to provide an improved ergonomic chair which enables a chair back to appropriately support the cervical vertebra, thereby enabling avoiding neck pains when sitting.

According to aforementioned objective, the ergonomic chair of the present invention comprises a chair base, a chair cushion and a chair back, wherein the chair base is fitted with front and rear chair feet, the chair cushion is located above the chair base, and the chair back is located to the rear of the chair base. Support strength of cushion pads on the chair back assumes a fan-shape extending from a lower end thereof towards the upper end, thereby dispersing the compressive stress on the lower part of the trunk and supporting the back of a person. A protruding support cushion is located on the chair back corresponding to the position of the cervical vertebra of a person, thereby supporting the cervical vertebra of the person when sitting. A head cushion is located on the chair back above the support cushion, and a plurality of equally spaced depressions are arranged on the head cushion, thereby providing support for the rear portion of a head of the person when sitting. Furthermore, the lower end of the chair back close to the lower part of the trunk of a person is a center point, and two sides of the support cushion gradually slant towards the center point to assume a fan-shape extending from the upper end to the lower end, and each of the depressions are also arranged to gradually slant towards the center point to assume a fan-shape extending from the upper end to the lower end. Accordingly, the design of the support cushion and the head cushion facilitating the dispersal of the compressive stress on the lower part of the trunk and support of the back and cervical vertebra of a person provide the chair back with the ability to appropriately support the cervical vertebra, thereby enabling neck pains to be avoided when sitting, at the same time, the slanting design enabling the support cushion and each of the depressions to assume a fan-shape appropriately supports the cervical vertebra regardless of how the user changes sitting posture, thereby avoiding neck pains from occurring due to poor sitting postures.

To enable a further understanding of said objectives and the technological methods of the invention herein, a brief description of the drawings is provided below followed by a detailed description of the preferred embodiments.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

The present invention relates to an improved ergonomic chair. Referring to FIGS. 1 and 3, which show an ergonomic chair 10 of the present invention comprising a chair base 20, a chair cushion 30 and a chair back 40, wherein the chair base 20 is fitted with front and rear chair feet 21, 22, the chair cushion 30 is located above the chair base 20, and the chair back 40 is located to the rear of the chair base 20. Support strength of cushion pads 41 on the chair back 40 assumes a fan-shape extending from a lower end thereof towards the upper end, thereby dispersing the compressive stress on the lower part of the trunk and supporting the back of a person 50. A protruding support cushion 42 is located on the chair back 40 corresponding to the position of the cervical vertebra of a person, thereby supporting the cervical vertebra 51 of the person 50 when sitting. A head cushion 43 is located on the chair back 40 above the support cushion 42, and a plurality of equally spaced depressions 44 are arranged on the head cushion 43, thereby providing support for the rear portion of a head 52 of the person 50 when sitting. Furthermore, the lower end of the chair back 40 close to the lower part of the trunk of the person 50 is a center point, and two sides of the support cushion 42 gradually slant towards the center point to assume a fan-shape extending from the upper end to the lower end, and each of the depressions 44 are also arranged to gradually slant towards the center point to assume a fan-shape extending from the upper end to the lower end.

According to the assembly of the aforementioned components, and referring to FIGS. 2, 3 and 4, when sitting on the ergonomic chair 10 of the present invention, the design of the ergonomic chair 10 enabling the chair back 40 to disperse the compressive stress on the lower part of the trunk and support the back of the person 50, and enabling the support cushion 42 to support the cervical vertebra 51 of the person 50, as well as enabling the depressions 44 of the head cushion 43 to support the head of the person 50 provide the chair back 40 with the ability to appropriately support the cervical vertebra. Hence, neck pains can be avoided when sitting for long periods of time (when sleeping on the ergonomic chair 10 of the present invention), at the same time, the slanting design that enables the support cushion 42 and each of the depressions 44 to assume a fan-shape appropriately supports the cervical vertebra regardless of how the user changes his sitting posture (or sleeping posture) also enables avoiding neck pains from occurring due to poor sitting postures.

Referring again to FIGS. 3 and 4, groove widths of the depressions 44 of the head cushion 43 are over two-thirds larger than the head width of the person 50.

In the present invention, because of the support strength of the cushion pads 41 (see FIGS. 1 and 2) of the chair back 40 assuming a fan-shape extending from the lower end of the chair back 40 towards the upper end, and the lower end exactly corresponding to the lower part of the spine of the person 50, thus, the center point of the fan-shape is at the coccygeal vertebra. Hence, the chair back 40 is provided with the ability to disperse the compressive stress on the lower part of the trunk and support the back of the person 50. Accordingly, the spine of the person 50 is correctly supported when sitting, thereby avoiding neck pains due to poor sitting postures, and preventing pressure on the peripheral nerves of the cervical vertebra, which would otherwise result in serious neck pains and affect development of the central nervous system.

Referring again to FIG. 1, the chair cushion 30 can be a sponge cushion, thereby providing the user with a soft and comfortable experience when sitting thereon.

Referring again to FIG. 1, the cushion pads 41, the support cushion 42 and the head cushion 43 can be sponge cushions, thereby providing the user with a soft and comfortable experience when sitting.

In conclusion, the improved ergonomic chair of the present invention is assuredly provided with an innovative structure not found in the prior art. Moreover, no similar products have been seen in any publication or in the market; the present invention is thus provided with undoubted originality. In addition, the present invention is provided with unique characteristics and functionality that are without comparison in the prior art.
