DETAILED DESCRIPTION

FIGS. 1 and 2 showing a protective device 100 in accordance with an exemplary embodiment. The protective device includes a cover 22, a body 24, and a latch assembly 28. The cover 22 is pivotally fixed on the body 24; the latch assembly 28 is configured to lock the cover 22 with the body 24.

Referring to FIG. 3, the cover 22 includes a first plate 221 and a second plate 225. The first plate 221 is pivotally connected to the body 22, the second plate 225 is pivotally connected to the first plate 221, wherein the second plate 225 and the body 24 are connected to the first plate 221 at opposite ends. The second plate 225 includes two L-shaped and angled clips 227 mounted on a surface of the second plate 25 facing the body 24 at two corners opposite to the first plate 221, two receiving grooves 229 are formed between the two clips 227 and the surface of the second plate 225. The receiving grooves 229 are configured for holding an electronic device 30 (referring to FIG. 5). The cover 22 further includes stopper portions 223 on rims thereof.

The body 24 includes a receiving space 246 encased by four sidewalls 244 and a base wall 242 for receiving the electronic device 30. The receiving space 246 are set according to the shape and the size of the electronic device that is protected by the protective device 30, that is, varying receiving spaces may by set for different protective devices. Referring to FIG. 5, the receiving space 246 is rectangular for protecting the electronic device 30 having a rectangular shape. Furthermore, the sidewalls 244 define steps 248 corresponding to the stopper portions 223 of the cover 22. When the cover 22 is closed to the body 24, the steps 248 engage with the stopper portions 223 and support the cover 22.

Referring to FIG. 4, the latch assembly 28, to allow latching and unlatching the cover 22 from the body 24, includes a locking portion 282 and a retaining portion 284. The locking portion 282 is engaged with the retaining portion 284 to latch and unlatch the cover 22. The locking portion 282 is attached to either the cover 22 or the body 24, and the retaining portion 284 is attached to the other.

In this embodiment, the locking portion 282 is attached to the second plate 225 on an external surface facing away from the body 24, and the retaining portion 284 is attached to a bottom of the body 24. The locking portion 282 includes a magnetic buckle 2822, and a locking belt 2824, the magnetic buckle 2822 is fastened at one end of the locking belt 2824, and the opposite end of the locking belt 2824 is fixed to the second plate 225. The retaining portion 284 is a magnetic buckle corresponding to the magnetic buckle 2822. When the cover 22 is closed to the body 24 and the magnetic buckle 2822 is attached to the magnetic buckle 284, the cover 22 is locked and cannot be opened. In the exemplary embodiment, the latch assembly 18 includes two locking portions 282 and two retaining portions 284. In another embodiment, the latch assembly 18 may include a hook (not shown) and a locking slot (not shown), and the locking slot is adapted to receive the hook therein.

Referring to FIG. 5, the electronic device 30 can be a digital photo frame, an electronic book reading apparatus, and the like. When to use the electronic device 30 received in the protective device 100, firstly, unfasten the latch assembly 28 and unlock the cover 22; rotate the second plate 225 relative to the first plate 221 to form a preferred angle; insert a top end of the electronic device 30 in the receiving groove 229; then, raise the bottom end of the electronic device 30 against a sidewall 244 opposite to the joint of the cover 22 and the body 24, accordingly, the electronic device 30 is held by the second plate 225 and further supported by the first plate 221, and can be used conveniently.

When accommodating the electronic device 30 in the protective device 100, move the bottom end of the electronic device 30 to a sidewall 242 that joins the cover 22, keep the top end of the electronic device 30 received in the receiving groove 229, close the cover 22 to the base 24, then latch the cover 22 by fastening the locking portion 282 of the latch assembly 28 to the holding portion 284, therefore, the electronic device 30 is received in the protective device 100 and is protected.

Although the present disclosure has been specifically described on the basis of the exemplary embodiment thereof, the disclosure is not to be construed as being limited thereto. Various changes or modifications may be made to the embodiment without departing from the scope and spirit of the disclosure.
