Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

This invention relates to wigs, more particularly a wig with a cap having an interchangeable base section which may utilize different base sections having different styles, colors, and/or lengths of hair attached to them. In addition a user may attach special extensions to the cap to change the style, color and/or length of the wig.

People, particularly women, wear wigs for a variety of reasons, including to cover thinning or balding hair, to permit the wearer to look good when the wearer has not had time to have their hair styled or to style their hair themselves, and to permit the wearer to have a variety of hair styles and lengths without altering their own basic hair length and style.

Currently, wigs are constructed by permanently securing hair to ribbons on a cap which fit over a head of a user. This prevents a user from being able to change the style of any particular wig without permanently altering the wig. Therefore, if a user wants a different hair style, the user has to by a whole new wig.

Thus, a need exists for a multi-style wig with special extensions and an interchangeable base section which will allow a user to easily change the color, length and/or style of a wig without permanently altering the wig.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The primary object of the present invention is to provide a multi-style wig for which a user may easily change the style without permanently altering the wig.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a multi-style wig for which a user may easily change the color without permanently altering the wig.

A further object of the present invention is to provide a multi-style wig for which a user may easily change the length without permanently altering the wig.

The present invention fulfills the above and other objects by providing a multi-style wig having a cap having a top section with an interchangeable base section and special extensions which may be removably attached to the cap. The base section is removably attached to the top section and used with or without the special extension. Each extension is comprised of a clip having hair permanently attached thereto. The clip is preferably made of an elasticized fabric material that is folded around the ribbons of the cap. The clip has fasteners, which are preferably snaps, located on each end. To use, the extension is positioned at a desired location on the cap. Then, the clip is placed around the ribbon of the cap and finally the fastener is secured to attach the extension to the cap. In this manner, the original hair of the wig and the hair secured to the clip appear as a single wig to create a new style (i.e., a brunette wig having blonde extensions). The extension may be used with a traditional one piece wig cap or the wig cap having a top section with an interchangeable base section of the present invention

A user may also alter the appearance of the multi-style wig by changing an interchangeable base section with a different base section having a different color, style and/or length of hair. In this manner, a user may achieve a look of having the top of the multi-style wig one color and the bottom or base of the wig another color.

The above and other objects, features and advantages of the present invention should become even more readily apparent to those skilled in the art upon a reading of the following detailed description in conjunction with the drawings wherein there is shown and described illustrative embodiments of the invention.
