Clip designed to prevent pant hems from dragging on the ground.
Herein is described a device that prevents the back of one's pants from dragging on the ground by clamping the back of the pants to the back of the shoe. This is done particularly by attaching adhesive hook and loop fastening strips to both the base of the clip and the back sole of the shoe, attaching the clip to the shoe via the hook and loop fasteners, and sliding the bottom of the pant leg between the clip and the back heel of the shoe.
Fashion is an important aspect of today's younger generation. One accepted fashion statement is newer, looser fitting pants or jeans. This style is achieved by purchasing pants with a larger waist size than the actual waist of the buyer. As typical manufacturing standards dictate a direct proportionate pant length to waist size, the aforementioned younger generation typically purchases pants that are longer than they desire in order to achieve a baggy look. The hem of these pants typically extends beyond the sole of the shoe, and the resultant friction from dragging on the ground frays the hem of the pants destroying them and negating the newer look.
A belt is an accepted device resolving the issue of a larger waist size, however no correlating device currently exists that resolves the issue of a longer pant length. Purchasers desire an easy-to-use tool that will prevent the fraying of the hem while saving the time and money required for tailoring the pants
BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONThe invention is made of injected plastic molding or metal, with parts sectioned as follows: base, tip, wings, and midsection, which together will henceforth be referred to as the “clip”. The invention has the ability to vary in shape, but will always adhere to these such standards: From clip base to tip may equal up to 5 inches in height and 3 inches in length. The wings may measure up to 3 inches in height and up to 2 inches in length each, The clip, in its entirety, may be up to 5 inches in height, 7 inches in length, and ½ centimeter thick. The clip will be bowed in the middle to align more closely with the back of a shoe. The clip will attach to a shoe heel by utilizing two strips of adhesive backed hook and loop fasteners. One strip is adhered by the user to the inside of the clip, and the other strip is adhered by the user to the back heel of a shoe. The strips are then pressed together by the user, securing the clip to the back heel of the shoe. The user's pant hem is slipped in between the clip and the heel of the shoe. The clip holds the back of the pants hem securely and stylishly in place, elevated above the ground, thereby preventing the user from tripping over excess material and the dragging and damaging of pants legs.
Herein is described a device that clamps the hem of a pair of pants to the back of a shoe, thereby preventing the hem of said pants from dragging on the ground. This is done particularly by attaching a first adhesive-backed loop fastener strip (25) to the base of the inside of the clip (20), and another adhesive-backed hook fastener strip (30) to the heel of the shoe, then pressing the two corresponding hook and loop strips together, thus creating a small gap between the clip and the heel of the shoe. The user can then slide the bottom of a pant leg between the clip (20) and the heel of the shoe, keeping the hem of the pant elevated above the ground.
The clip (20) that is made of injected plastic molding or metal, is approximately 1 to 7 inches in length and approximately 1 to 5 inches in height, preferably bowing in the middle to accommodate the shape of most shoes.
Corresponding hook (30) and loop (25) fastening strips with adhesive backs are used to attach the aforementioned clip to the back heel of a shoe (25). The adhesive backed hook and loop fastening strips are preferably up to three inches in length, and up to two inches in height. (20).
Each hook and loop fastening strip is attached via an adhesive backing as follows: the adhesive backed hook strip (30) is attached to the back heel of a shoe, and the adhesive backed loop strip (25) is attached to the inside of the base of the clip. The strips are aligned and pressed together in order to firmly secure the clip to the back heel of the shoe. Once the clip is attached to the back of the shoe via the adhesive-backed hook and loop fasteners, the user's pants will slide between the clip and the back heel of the shoe, and be held elevated above the ground (
The device may be manufactured by cutting out a pattern of plastic or metal. Alternately, the clip may be manufactured by making a mold of the desired design, then using injected plastic molding to complete the clip body (20).
A design, pattern, logo, or other decorative element may be added to the surface of the clip during or after the manufacturing process. The clip itself may be manufactured in a variety of colors.
While a preferred embodiment of the device has been described here in detail, it should be noted that modifications and variations in size, material, shape, form, and manner of use, all of which fall within the true spirit and intentions of the invention are possible. Therefore, the following claims are to be considered as illustrating only the principles of the invention, and are not to limit the invention to the exact construction and mode of use shown and described. Modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, so long as they fall within the scope of the invention.
Claims
1. A device for securing a pant cuff, comprising:
- a first fastener having two sides, wherein a first side includes an adhesive and a second side includes a first set of protrusions;
- a second fastener having two sides, wherein the first side includes an adhesive and a second side includes a second set of protrusions operable to engage with the first set of protrusions;
- a clip operatively connected to the first side of the second fastener using the adhesive;
- wherein: the first side of the first fastener is operatively connectable to an object using the adhesive; the second side of the second fastener is operatively connectable to the second side of the first fastener based on the first and second set of protrusions; the first and second fasteners are operatively connected to create a gap between the clip and the object.
2. The device of claim 1, wherein the first and second set of protrusions comprise velcro.
3. The device of claim 1, wherein the clip is plastic.
4. The device of claim 1, wherein the second fastener is operatively connected to a midpoint of the clip.
