Headrest for A Chair

A headrest for a chair in the present invention has a supporting strip and an abutting surface immovably mounted on an upper end of the supporting strip. The supporting strip has a fastening element secured on a lower end. An adjustable connection between the supporting strip and the fastening element is performed. The fastening element is adapted to attach to a top of the backrest of the chair. The supporting strip is made of MC Nylon so that the headrest enables to move flexibility to any angle posture and to provide comforting efficiency.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to a headrest, and more particular to a headrest for a chair applied to office furniture.

2. Description of Related Art

Among great population of labor staying in office, many people have to seat on office chairs for quite a long time to face the computers during working so that the head, the neck and the spine cannot be sufficiently extended and thus incur cervical weakness or even cervical inflammation etc. Some office chairs incorporate headrests gradually but some of the headrests are immovable without any adjustment. Such headrests do not have much benefit because the head cannot rest thereon comfortably so that the fatigue cannot be eased. Other headrests enable to precede adjustment but cannot move along with the head to any angle for different postures when the headrests thereon and needs some movement.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

A main objective of the present invention is to provide a headrest for a chair that provides comforting-rest and adjustment capabilities.

To achieve the foregoing objective, the headrest comprises a supporting strip and an abutting surface immovably mounted on an upper end of the supporting strip, wherein improvement of the headrest is:

the supporting strip has a fastening element secured on a lower end and adapted to a top of a backrest;

an adjustable connection is performed between the supporting strip and the fastening element; and

the supporting strip is made of MC Nylon.

Further benefits and advantages of the present invention will become apparent after a careful reading of the detailed description with appropriate reference to the accompanying drawings.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

A headrest for a chair in the present invention has supporting strip and an abutting surface immovably mounted on an upper end of the supporting strip. The supporting strip has a fastening element secured on a lower end. An adjustable connection between the supporting strip and the fastening element is performed. The fastening element is adapted to attach to a top of the backrest of the chair. The supporting strip is made of MC Nylon so that the headrest enables to move flexibility to any angle posture and provide comforting efficiency.

Embodiment 1

As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, a first preferred embodiment of a headrest in accordance with the present invention comprises a supporting strip 1 and an abutting surface 2 immovably mounted on an upper end of the supporting strip 1, wherein the abutting surface 2 is selectively curved surface made of cloth, a flat surface made of cloth, a curved surface made of net texture, a flat surface made of net texture, a curved surface made of leather, or a flat surface made of leather. The supporting strip 1 has a fastening element 3 secured on a lower end of the supporting strip 1. An adjustable connection between the supporting strip 1 and the fastening element 3 is performed. The fastening element 3 is adapted to attach to a top of a backrest 9 of the chair. The supporting strip 1 is made of MC Nylon (Monomer casting nylon) which has excellent flexibility and enables to deform correspondingly to move to any directly when user rests and moves the head on the headrest.

The supporting strip 1 includes a bending portion 11 at top and a straight portion 12 at bottom. The straight portion 12 of the supporting strip 1 penetrates the fastening element 3.

The straight portion 12 has a plurality of round recesses 4 arranged in line defined on a front face. The fastening element 3 has a spring 51 with an abutting head 5 inserting into a corresponding one of the plurality of round recesses 4. By pulling upward or pushing downward the straight portion 12, the headrest is adjustable in height. Moreover, the plurality of round recesses 4 is optionally in round, rectangular or oval shape.

The topmost and the bottommost of the straight portion 12 each have a limiting block 6. The fastening element 3 has a lower end and a locking strip 7 mounted on the lower end. After penetrating the straight portion 12 through the fastening element 3, the locking strip 7 is attached to the lower end of the fastening element 3 so that the limiting block 6 limits the moving distance of the straight portion 12 up and down.

The fastening element 3 is adapted to attach to the top of the backrest 9 of the chair by screws (not numbered). Optionally, the fastening element 3 is attached to the backrest 9 selectively by screws, glue adhesive, welding or rivets (now shown).

The supporting surface 2 is made of soft curved net surface to ease the neck stress.

Embodiment 2

As shown in FIG. 3, a second preferred embodiment of a headrest has a same structure with the first one except that: the straight portion 12 has plurality of through holes 4a arranged in line and the fastening element 3 has the spring 51 with the abutting head 5 inserting into a corresponding one of the plurality of through holes 4a. By pulling upward or the pushing downward the straight portion 12, the height of the headrest is adjustable.

Embodiment 3

As shown in FIG. 4, a third preferred embodiment of a headrest has a same structure with the first one except that: the straight portion 12 has a toothed positioning strip 4b and the fastening element 3 has a locker 5b engaging the toothed positioning strip 4b to adjust the height of the headrest. Teeth on the toothed positioning strip 4b are triangle, rectangle, trapezoidal or any other shape.

Embodiment 4

As shown in FIG. 5, a fourth preferred embodiment of a headrest has a same structure with the first one except that: the fastening element 3 has a manual locking screw 5c mounted on the straight portion 12. By loosening the manual locking screw 5c, the headrest is adjustable in height.

Although this invention has been described in its preferred form with a certain degree of particularity, it is understood that the present invention of the preferred form has been made only by way of example and that numerous changes in the details of construction and the combination and arrangement of parts any be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.

Claims

1. A headrest comprising a supporting strip and an abutting surface immovably mounted on an upper end of the supporting strip, wherein improvements of the headrest are:

the supporting strip has a fastening element secured on a lower end and adapted to a top of a backrest;
an adjustable connection is performed between the supporting strip and the fastening element; and
the supporting strip is made of MC Nylon.

2. The headrest as claimed in claim 1, wherein the supporting portion has a bending portion at top and a straight portion at bottom;

the straight portion of the supporting strip penetrates the fastening element.

3. The headrest as claimed in claim 2, wherein the straight portion has a plurality of recesses arranged in line; and

the fastening element has a spring with an abutting head inserting into a corresponding one of the plurality of recesses.

4. The headrest as claimed in claim 2, wherein the straight portion has a plurality of through holes arranged in line; and

the fastening element has a spring with an abutting head inserting into a corresponding one of the plurality of through holes.

5. The headrest as claimed in claim 2, wherein the straight portion has a toothed positioning strip; and

the fastening element has a locker engaging the toothed positioning strip.

6. The headrest as claimed in claim 2, wherein the fastening element has a manual locking screw mounted on the straight portion.

7. The headrest as claimed in claim 3, wherein the plurality of recesses are selectively with round, rectangular or oval.

8. The headrest as claimed in claim 2, wherein a topmost and a bottommost of the straight portion each have a limiting block;

the fastening element has a lower end and a locking strip mounted on the lower end.

9. The headrest as claimed in claim 1, wherein the fastening element is adapted to attach to the backrest selectively by screws, glue adhesive, welding or rivets.

10. The headrest as claimed in claim 1, wherein the abutting surface is a curved surface made of cloth, a flat surface made of cloth, a curved surface made of net texture, a flat surface made of net texture, a curved surface made of leather, or a flat surface made of leather.
